Andrew Taylore Hair Design

My preferred stylist is Amy, who does great things with long hair. I am an older woman, dealing with the gray hair I want to pretend I don't have. Amy has figured out the right color tint so that my hair looks really natural, and each time, the gray is completely covered. I have also gotten full or partial foils there twice, and both times, the highlights and lowlights came out really beautiful, and looked really natural. Amy has been great about suggesting slight color changes to help me keep away from the gray more, and which also help me to go longer between appointments, since I am on a budget.

They have trimmed my hair a couple of times, too, and when I ask Amy to take off a quarter of an inch, she takes off a quarter of an inch (not the inch and a half so many other places try to do). If I need a trim, she will let me know, and if not, she does not recommend one. I believe they give me the straight information on what is best for my hair.

I stumbled upon them a year ago, and keep coming back, because I am always happy with the services I receive there. I want to mention also that Amy adjusted her schedule in order to fit me in this last time I went before she went on vacation. I felt that was above and beyond what most stylists would do, so I want to make sure that is recognized, too. Very satisfied customer here!

Yesterday was my first visit to Andrew Taylore Hair Design. The feeling, even before entering the salon, is relaxed and inviting - the small patio outside the entry contains flowers, greenery, two wrought iron chairs and a little table - lovely! I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in. The shampoo woman (Myrna?) - was fantastic - it was a shampoo and scalp massage. Darlene was my stylist; she studied my face, studied my hair, asked how I wanted it to look.

She is thorough, and exacting in her standards - nothing less than perfect will do! When she had finished drying and styling my hair, I was astonished - it's been decades since I have been so pleased with a cut! She is extraordinary. I am a fan for life! - most highly recommended!

The staff are very professional customer oriented. I came away with the best hair cut I have ever gotten. I needed a perm and the result is lovely curls. My hair has never been so soft after a perm. Have been going to Amy for years and love the way she cuts and colors my hair. She is so talented and skilled! My hair is medium short, curly, blonde and very thick. In other words, it is not easy to style and color. Not only does she do fabulous work, she is so personable and easy to work with!

Everyone one was really friendly and professional. The salon was clean and they had tea/coffee while you're waiting. Carly did a great job with my hair. I cut off a significant amount. I was nervous how it would look short. But she talked with me through each step and asked my preferences and picked the best hairstyle for me and my busy life. Really impressed, would go her again.

Shiemi gave me the best haircut that I could possibly ask for. I just walked in and asked for a haircut, and they were nice enough to squeeze me in their busy schedule. Haven't been to any other place ever since. Shiemi has so much experience and knows the latest trends and can recommend different style as well. I didnt expect her to be so good with men's haircut, but as it turns out she is the best stylist in DMV area.

Rehana provided another service which is the ultrasonic and spa facial. Immediately I noticed that my sagging jowls were lifted and lines smoothed out. I decided to use the customized skincare line. I used in the past but used the antiaging line. Rehana explained that I really didn't need everything from that corrective series and mixed the skin brightening and antiaging lines to give me a while skincare regime for my skin that would last for 3 months (I've used these products in the past and they do last) and the cost was still under $200.

Shiemi (new to Andrew Taylore) gave me the best hair color and hair wash that included a fantastic head massage. After she colored and styled my hair I headed to work where everyone complimented my silky hair. Only negative are their high prices. I highly recommend stylist Shiemi.

Amy is the best! Super sweet, actually takes the time to go over a concept with you and even discus the photos you bring in to show her (I've had many a hairdressers simply nod and then do what they would like to do. She stayed late to color my hair yesterday and I'm already received lots of compliments. :) Salon itself is great! I went into Andrew Taylore this morning to donate my hair to Locks of Love. I showed up a bit early, and I was offered coffee or tea while I waited. I was extremely nervous because I have always had long hair, and I was going to have to cut off 10 inches to donate. I had Darlene who has 40+ years experience and it showed. She was amazing. I have a very VERY round face and she managed to make me look great!

Before she started cutting my hair, Darlene talked with me in depth about what I wanted, then pulled out some magazines to show me what it would look like. I felt very prepared for the change and at ease once we talked about it. Having good stylist-customer communication is really important, because if you both aren't clear what you want, it will turn out terrible. Thankfully, mine looks great. Overall, I LOVED my haircut and I am making this my new salon and telling all of my friends to go here. It is close to George Mason's campus, so I would recommend that all students go there!

Excellent customer service and I loved my haircut by Amy. The Yelp coupons was a nice addition. I have no complaints and plan on returning again for my next salon need.

This place is hidden - I'm not sure how you would find it unless you knew to look there. It's in an office complex full of dentists and doctors, and set back from the road. I live less than 2 miles away, but I'd never seen this salon before, and I only found out about it through Yelp. The salon's ambiance is new and modern - very different from the shabby office complex you see on the outside.

Once there, I did wait about 15 minutes, but it was prom season so I don't think this is the norm. I don't remember the name of the woman who I worked with, but I believe she's the only Indian woman there. I was coming in for a short haircut (donating to Locks of Love), which is ironic because I hate how my hair looks when it's short.

I gave the stylist complete freedom and just asked her to pick a hair style that she thought would look good on me. She was very fast - I've noticed that in the past, people have multiple goes at my hair to get it straight, but here, the stylist got it straight on the first try. I have to admit that I was a little hesitant when I first saw my haircut (I attribute this to my fear of short hair), but the longer I've lived with it, the more I like it. Ultimately, my hair is now very dynamic, and has many potential looks.

She angled it in the front, which gives it an attractive feminine touch even when I have my hair tied back. I'm able to curl it up so that my hair looks light and almost Anime-like, if that makes sense. And I'm also able to curl it in if I want a typical bob cut. I'm really happy with my haircut, and I hope I'm able to find the same stylist again!

I followed Erin Motley to Andrew Taylore, and I am very happy about her move. This is such a calm and relaxing salon with no pretense. Everyone is super nice. Erin - I can't say enough great things. She is very talented - I am so lucky to have found her! She is phenomenal with the highlights and I love my haircut and style. I regularly have people stop me on the street to ask me who does my hair.

If that is not telling enough. I was very unhappy with my mother's hair color, but she lives in Indiana outside of Chicago. Three days before my wedding, my mom willing allowed Erin to color/highlight her hair for my wedding - my mom had never even met Erin. My mom looked fabulous for my wedding, and she was so impressed with Erin and wished she could have Erin do her hair all the time.

I only got to use this place once but it was a quiet clean place within walking distance of my house. How I didn't find it before, I have no idea. My daughter and I both got our hair did and had a wonderful experience. A great choice and far better than the "shopping ctr" salons in the area.

Darlene is very professional and gives an excellent cut and color. The salon is clean and well cared for. I have had excellent facials and nail care. I am very very fussy about my hair and Darlene has met or exceeded my expectations every visit.

I started using this salon about 3 months ago. I had a very bad experience at the shop I had been using for about 3 years. Darlene, owner of Andrew Taylore, is a customer of my business - so I went to her for help. I explained my need for appointments after 6pm and she was able to accomodate me quickly. The day after I had my hair done at my usual place, I had it colored and trimmed again at Andrew Taylore in order to correct the bad color and burned hair.

I am so happy with my color and cut and love the professional experience and special treatment I feel like I receive when I'm there. I have been back twice and have already booked my next 2 appointments. You will love the experience here. I highly recommend it.

I've been an Andrew Taylore customer for many years. I ventured out for a more modern looking salon but came back to Andrew Taylore because they do great color and cuts and that's why I go -- for the hair & nail services; not the sleekness of the salon. The salon is charming and warm, like going to a friend's home. As an added bonus, the prices are competitive and that's important to me, especially in today's economy They make me feel special with their attention to detail and customer satisfaction. I always have great hair when I leave Andrew Taylore. You can go to other salons and pay more but you'll get the best color and cut at Andrew Taylore.
