I have been going to Gael for 30 years. When I first met Gael, my hair was one big split end that never grew past my shoulders. Today my hair is to my waist, healthy, blonde - thanks to Gael - and beautiful. You want good, strong, fabulous hair with perfect color, GO TO GAEL at 5 Star, Burke.

First I asked for a less experienced person to keep the costs down. Nothing complicated to do. I went in for a simple bang trim and hair trim. I was assigned to Sook (she supposedly had high level experience). She was not very friendly towards me. I told her all I needed was a trim. Then she tried to make me do a shampoo and got nasty when I told her I didn't need a shampoo, "just a simple bang trim and 1 inch of my long hair." She spent about 10 minutes me and I was charged $55.00! Their prices are insane! I believe I was charged for a shampoo and blow dry, which I did not receive! STAY AWAY FROM HERE! I'll never go back their again!

If you have watched America's Got Talent, then you know they give the "Golden Buzzer" for something exceptional. Today I'm giving the Golden Buzzer to Nicole at Five Star. First of all, thanks to the wonderful owner, whom I know, for getting me in. She asked if I had a particular stylist. Since I have never been there, she gave me Nicole.

Since we are in the middle of the COVID pandemic, my regular stylist, of 26 years, who happens to own her own salon, is not available at this time. So why not try someone new on this hair that is basically a mop. Nicole hit it out of the park. She also knew the bar was high in comparison to my regular stylist. She may be young, but she has a gift for making a newbie comfortable. She has a fresh "old soul" that will make her a superstar now and in the future. Thank you Five Star and Nichole

I had a wonderful experience at Five Star thanks to Giselle who did an amazing job on my hair, and Penny (the owner) who was so friendly and helpful with booking my appointment. I was looking for a way to bring back some of my natural wave but nervous to cut too much off my hair. Penny suggested I come in for a consult (no charge!) and after discussing things with Giselle ended up getting a cut that took a lot of weight off and perfectly restored my hair to its natural wavy state. Penny and Giselle worked patiently to accommodate both my time and my desires, and I'm 100% in love with my hair cut! Can't wait to go back.

Everytime I go here it gets better! My stylist, Lily Nguyen, talked me through every step! It was my first time getting a new style (putting in layers). She listened, she showed her process, and to top it all off, she was so kind! Phenomenal work Lily! I cant believe I was so afraid of getting layers before, they just look perfect. Best hair experience!

Oh my God! I came in with this disaster hair. Roots were dark, follow by redish color, ending with very orange tips. Fara, is a miracle worker. She fixed my hair making me look amazing. She was so kind and gentle. I am so in love with her quality of service and the rest of the staff was so supportive and incredible. I am officially hooked with you guys for life. I went to 5-star Hair in Burke to get a hair cut and highlights. It was my first time there; I was a little late for my appointment but was introduced to Giselle right away. Before we got started she went over all the options as far as the different techniques she could use to give me the look I was after. I'm in my late 60's and also wanted help with a come-over on my ever-expanding bald spot as well as some kind of highlighting to mute my gray hair.

She spent the time necessary to go over the process she thought would be best, It wasn't what I was planning on, but I said ok let's do it. All I can say is she totally nailed it! The best experience I've ever had at a hair salon.

I'm here right now with Giselle and am having the best time with her and Cindy. Everyone is so friendly and fun! Giselle gave a great consultation and really listened to what I wanted. I'll update with a picture when I'm done!

Just wanted to give a shout out and recommend Soo at Five StAr Hair and Nails in Burke! I have used salons all over the country and she has given me some of the best cuts I have ever had, she is truly an artist. I have a very choppy short hair cut and it isn't always easy to find a stylist that gets it SO RIGHT! THANK YOU SOO!

Son gets his hair cut here. He has crazy wild thick hair. The staff tames it and makes him look great. He lives coming here and much much better than any barber or stylist. We have tried many places until thought to try "mom's" place. Highly recommend.

Great cut last week as a walk in with Soo. My husband needed a haircut and was getting out of work late, so I suggested Five Star since they close at 9! He walked in and was unwelcomed by a male who said all the stylists were gone, although my husband said there was a group of people talking in the back. I understand it was late, but you advertise you're open until 9 and walk ins are welcome. Sorry I sent my husband over and he was turned away.

I've been getting my hair done here with Mary for over 10 years, and I have never once been disappointed. Although I don't change my hairstyle THAT often, when I do she provides sound advice and when it's just a trim, it's still fantastic work. Ownership/management of Five Star is also excellent, with Penny and Kenny being a powerhouse brother/sister duo. They treat me like family and always make me feel at home when I go there.

The absolute worst hair cut I have ever had. I had gone to the same stylist twice before and gotten the same haircut. I told her I wanted the same style (a couple inches off the bottom and side bangs). I looked down for a second, looked back up, and she butchered my bangs. She cut them above my eyebrows and layered them. I looked like a toddler with a bad haircut.

I asked what happened and she said that I asked for bangs like that. I told her that I didn't and she said, "Don't worry - they will grow." I was in a wedding the next weekend and was mortified by this cut. Save yourself a very expensive cut and go somewhere else. Hair Cuttery would be better than this place. She didn't apologize or anything.

Researched places in Burke to have my nails done, inexpensively but well. This place had decent reviews so I tried it out. TOTALLY WORTH IT. Everyone was friendly, nice and accommodating. I chatted with a bunch of the staff and my nails looked great. I feel as if it's a place that I could make "my salon". I plan to get my hair trimmed next and hopefully that experience will be just as great. Highly recommend.

I so wish I could find a hair stylist that can cut my hair as I ask! It definitely was not at this place. I got scalped! The young woman started out great but couldn't control herself or her scissors. She kept "thinning and evening" until there isn't a lot left. Did not get my hair colored so can't comment about that. Just Very Unhappy about to the cut. Will not be going back to this salon!

I LOVE this place! I get my eyebrows, hair, and occasionally nails done here. Melana is the only woman I trust to do my eyebrows after having unsuccessful attempts other places and Gael is a a miracle worker with my hair! I will admit the first time I went I was upset with my haircut, and then my mother told me to try Gael, and I am so glad I did!

She knows exactly what would work with my type of hair and nudges me away from things that wouldn't work. Got my highlights done by her as well and she is one of those people who just knows what would work.

So in the past I've had only positive experiences, but recently I was there for a manicure. I made an appointment via the online scheduler, but when I arrived, the manicurist was bitching about staying late for my appointment. How am I supposed to know her schedule? She did my manicure, and then started getting ready to leave, before I was dry or anything. Didn't even say anything about it, just got up and started packing up literally the second the last coat went on my nails. Sorry, but if I'm paying this much for a manicure, I think I deserve better treatment.
