****IT'S WORTH THE WAIT**** If you're a new client, you'll have to wait at least two months for a color appointment because of how busy they are. Most stylists there are pre-booked by their clients with appointments spanning from 6 months to 1 year out. Like myself. My recommendation is to get in the rotation, don't miss your appointment, schedule ahead of time and you will NEVER be disappointed.

You can't expect to see stylists in high demand within a days notice, it just doesn't work like that! So don't let that to detour you from making your appointment. Akane is the BEST SALON in the North New Jersey Area, IMO! I've done various services with them over the years from bleaching, cutting and perms and have NEVER been disappointed. The staff is kind, the salon is clean and well kept and the stylists are exceptionally talented.

They keep up with the latest trends and hair styles and have years of experience. Something important to me during my hair journey has been maintaining the integrity of my hair over various bleaching sessions. At Akane they are very careful -they don't use high peroxides and heat over a pro-longed period and fry your hair. Like most places. Instead they create a hair plan and treat your hair with an individualized regiment so that you can go from black pigmented hair to platinum with little damage over a series of sessions.

Something that my hair thanks me for and that others notice; I'm so glad I found them when I moved to NJ. I'll forever be a loyal customer. Thank you Akane for making my hair dreams come true!

I have always had problems finding a salon and sticking with it. But back in 2018, I decided to bleach my hair at home by myself which caused intense damage. I went through 2 different salons in one day to see if they could fix the damage, but both places just used additional chemicals and cut my hair. The damage worsened, and my hair basically looked like the bristles of a broomstick. I finally tried Akane and Kosuke saved my hair in one shot. He is now the only stylist allowed to touch my hair! The wait list is long for a reason. I highly recommend!

I've been to a handful of different salons and barbers in the area and always had issues with either the fade, top hair or both. I heard many great things about Akane and was hesitant at first for I was only paying about 25 per cut. I was introduced to Yusa who later sat me down and had asked what type of cut I wanted. After showing him several images of how I wanted my haircut he started to examine my head/hair for about 10 minutes.

He thoroughly explained to me the nature of my hair and where my part begins and where it needs to be fixed. After 2 hair washes and a massage, I think we found a keeper. Thank you so much Yusa! I'll def be back!

I've been going to Akane two years now. It's so hard to find a place good with short hairs. They are great! They book up quickly. Make your appointment a month ahead.

Yuki did such a great job for my hair and made the balayage came out exactly as how I wanted it. She is very nice and spend the time to cut my hair and color it to how I wanted it. The price is very reasonable too! I would highly recommend this salon and Yuki!:

I am so happy with my hair! My old stylist moved to a new place that was too far for me to drive to and I met with the stylist, Yuki at Akane and she was a gem. She managed to get my natural Asian hair back right into blonde highlights. I highly recommend this salon. It is clean, professional, and timely. They even offer a shoulder massage. A+

One of the best places in and around Fort Lee for hair cut. Staff are professional and the facility was super clean. Plan in advance as they run out of appointments quickly.

I thought I finally found a nice hair designer but they were always back to Japan or moved to others. Only Erica is there over decade but her women hair cut price is quite expensive and need to wait for 2 months to cut my hair. She is good but Kind of tired to wait. Tired to keep changing staffs.

Yuki was wonderful! The other staff were also very pleasant. Very clean, high quality and affordable salon.

Yuki did a great job with the wash, cut and style. She gave my hair more texture and made it more even. Typically I cut my own hair at home and have a barber trim it every few months. Yuki was friendly and made no mistakes! She also gave me more styling tips and what wax to use for my hair. Would definitely recommend for asian men's style and cuts.

I cannot stop looking at my hair! When my mom finally gave me the option to find my own place, I tried out Akane Hair Salon after hearing about it from a friend. Lemme tell you: The best decision of my life. I walked in wanting a nice balayage but I came out with a gorgeous 10/10 haircut and color job. The Salon itself is very professional, friendly, and chill. Going in knowing no one, I was lucky to have randomly made an appointment with Kosuke.

He was so professional, attentive but chill at the same time. It was a 5 hour ordeal but felt attended to every second of the time frame. In the last 24 hours, I got so so many compliments and I am extremely happy with the finished product. I was told by my mom that if I came home with blonde hair compared to my black hair, I would not be allowed back in the house but even as a blonde hair hater, she ended up loving my hair.

I found my hair place and if you are on the edge on making an appointment, you might want to call as soon as possible to even think of getting your hair done within the next month and a half(they seem pretty popular). Kosuke saved my hair y'all. I can't express how thankful I am. Just look at the pictures of when I went to a different salon. I went back to get a refund at the original salon and he had the audacity to say "who looks at the inside of your hair anyway". Anyway Kosuke saved me and my hair! He knew exactly what to do and even better, was so empathetic to my situation and feelings.

The color of my hair when I first saw Kosuke was nothing like I wanted it to look like. He bleached it again and toned it and it came out perfect. I can not recommend this place more. It is on the more expensive side but I do think it's totally worth it. Go see Kosuke!

I came here based on a recommendation from a family friend who has been going to this salon for years. I'm sure they continue to have good experiences considering they only book with Eriko, but I went in with an appointment with a "master stylist" (right under director) who is not even listed on the team page on their website. I asked for lighter layers for my already short hair, but asked to keep the length as long as possible because I just wanted a touch up to give some body.

What I ended up getting is an EXTREMELY layered short hairstyle from an asian salon from the 80s. He took off chunks of my hair. I do not see anyone with this hairstyle who is under 60 years old. This is the worst haircut I've gotten in YEARS. The hairstylist could see I was not happy with the result but did not directly ask how I felt about it. Checking out, the receptionist also did NOT ask what I thought about the result. It is going to take months for my hair to grow back out to the way I wanted it to be. I do NOT recommend this salon.

Today was my second visIt and so far I am impressed. I think the prices are a little high but I get that the area has gentrified quickly. Was happy with both haircuts on separate occasions with separate stylists. This salon is by appointment only so you should call ahead. I had Kei today and was happy with the results (men's shampoo and haircut). Adding this salon to my rotation.

This is a fantastic salon. Ive used several of the stylists and I have gone for both color and haircuts. They are all creative and have great attention to detail, and excellent technique. I have never been disappointed. Appointments are definitely needed, but they are also honored and you will rarely wait. The salon is beautiful and the pricing is very reasonable. I highly recommend!

Very clean, professional, and attentive. Kyu-hay (sp?) is excellent and really takes his work seriously, and treats it as an art. Only one who's been able to cut my hair, and my wife's hair, properly. My only complaint is that it's expensive for a man's cut.$45! $50 after tip. But I guess that's the cost for getting your hair done right.

First time at Akane and really pleased with the entire experience! I scheduled a consultation first --I had initially been interested in japanese straightening but after the consultation, Kyohei recommended the keratin treatment (not permanent, easier going on the hair). He also gave good suggestions on changes he wanted to make to my hair, which was great for me because I'm not very specific/don't have strong preferences about one style.

The consultation was quick, maybe 5 minutes, and they scheduled me for the week after. First they washed my hair (they washed it three times that day: once before the cut, once after the cut, and another time after keratin application. Every time the staff was extremely considerate about temperature and generally very gentle with the wash--I've been to places where it's very aggressive & sometimes painful). Kyohei first trimmed/layered my hair before the keratin treatment, and you can tell he's really detailed and isn't in a rush to get things over with.

The cut took maybe 30-40 minutes. Then they did the keratin application. Then wash/dry and Kyohei went in and did some additional trimming/layering. All in all, I was there for 4 hours--kind of long, but they did warn me about the length of the treatment and they kindly offered beverages and wifi. I paid $200 for the keratin and $50 for the cut. To be honest, I don't feel that I overpaid AT ALL because I was attended to for 4 hours straight continuously and was pretty comfortable the whole time.

Also it was my first keratin treatment and was mildly nervous about it, but I have absolutely no regrets after coming here. Definitely check this place out if you're looking to try some place new!

This is my go-to salon for haircuts. Place is clean and staff is very friendly. Plus, they have a really cute dog that walks around and brightens your mood! Ask for Kyohei.he's very precise with his technique and I don't trust anyone else except him to do my hair. I always feel like a goddess walking out.

I used to be a loyal customer, and now I even got my wife to become one. My cuts are much shorter now, so I cannot justified paying Akane's price, however, definitely worth the money for my wife. Staff is very attentive and service is excellent as usual. Styles can be easily accommodated and the stylists will help you find your fit.

I've been going to Akane for about 4 years now, typically twice a year and they never disappoint. Kosuke is my usual stylist, but you can't go wrong with any of the masters. Definitely call ahead to make an appointment because they are very popular. Regardless of what style you're thinking of, I'd recommend getting a treatment done.

When I first started going to Akane, my hair was extremely damaged, but the treatments have fixed that. Even after your visit, Akane provides you with additional treatments you can do at home. In addition to cutting your hair exactly the way you want it (other places often cut your hair too short) they are all very friendly. Fair warning, Akane is pricier than most other salons. Usually the owner's dog is quietly milling around the salon which brightens my day.

Beware! Hairstylist toy with your hair. I told the hair stylist TARO i want to grow out my hair, and i even show a picture. He said okay okay, he just going to take little off the top. But then he proceed to cut all my hair on the side and back. which look nothing like what i showed him in the picture. My hair was about 3 inches in length on both side and back, he gave me basically a buzzcut. he cut my hair so short that my scalp is visible, they look like bald patches. Took me months to grew my hair out only for him to mown it down.

And the fade is not even, i have a little patch is shorter than the rest. Wtf?! Unreal! If Taro is not sure about the haircut, he should ask me. Afterall customers pay for haircuts. He cant just cut it however he feel like. I look so bad that im choking on my own vomit. No paid customer should deserve this. Hope this review is helpful to you.

I went in when my husband and my 2 year old son got their haircut, and for children and for the price I would definitely go elsewhere, but for my husband they were very thorough and good. When my 2 year old son was getting his haircut, they sort of botched up the side by buzzing way too much on the side above his ear. One side is definitely shorter than the other and did not do much to easy or make him feel comfortable.

My husband on the other hand, I brought in a picture and asked the stylist to cut appropriately to the picture, and because he had something to look at he was able to understand exactly what was necessary. The stylist Kyeshi (I think that's his name) was friendly and was able to fix and make my husband's haircut fit according to the shape of his face.

My husband was very satisfied and made this his regular go-to spot for men's haircut. Make sure to make an appointment at least one week prior to your cut, or else you won't get in.
