Poor Customer service. Did partial highlights and charged for full highlights did a completely different color than the one selected and when asked, they said it would get darker with time. It has been 2 weeks now, I see no changes. I did coloring main reason being to hid grey hairs, and my grey hairs are more visible in this color they did. After coloring she told me to wait for 20 minutes and didn't show up till 40 minutes to wash my hair. Overall a bad experience.

Positive: Cleanliness, Punctuality, Quality I went in as a walk in today and was so happy to get an appointment with Tina. GREAT color and cut. So happy with the results. Also had a pedicure with Blanca while my color was processing. She was incredible. So happy I took a chance. Very happy with my visit.

I'm pretty disappointed overall with my experience at this salon. I initially went to get my color done & was quoted a price at my consultation. However when I went to get the services I was charged almost half of what she'd quoted me. I was surprised but of course I wasn't going to argue with being charged less $. Also, I was extremely happy with how my hair looked, she really had done a fantastic job.
So I paid & left but about 10 minutes later I received a call from the receptionist saying she had made a mistake & undercharged me. She told me the correct price & sure enough it was about twice what she'd initially charged me, only $30 more. I was confused so asked if she could give me a breakdown of the price & it turns out the extra $30 was for the glaze which my stylist had not mentioned or included in the price she'd quoted me.
I paid it anyway, figuring it was a simple mistake & didn't hold it against her. I even went back to leave her double the tip I'd given her since I'd initially tipped based on the first price I was charged. I have naturally curly hair that I had straightened for many years but due to some financial problems I've had recently I decided to try and wear it curly & the stylist who had done my color had recommended I have a consultation with another stylist at the salon who specialized in curly hair.
So I went back to see that stylist & when I did, I saw the stylist who had done my color. I asked her if she had received the extra tip I'd left for her & while I was talking to her, I mentioned in passing that she had forgotten to quote the glaze in the price she'd given me. She insisted that she hadn't & I replied that she had but it wasn't a big deal.
I ended up making an appointment for a haircut with the "curly hair expert" who from the beginning was not particularly friendly towards me. At first I thought maybe that was just her personality but then I noticed w/ other customers she seemed to be friendlier so I wasn't sure why she wasn't towards me. I should mention at this point at first the stylist who had done my color was very friendly towards me.
So I kept going back to her & at first I kept trying to make eye contact with the "curly hair expert" but she legit refused to look back at me. She just wouldn't acknowledge my existence whatsoever so I finally gave up. I decided I just wouldn't go back to her but kept going back to the other girl for my color. Now, I should probably also mention here that I'm normally someone who spends an OBSCENE amount of $ on my hair but have had to temporarily scale back.
I used to go to Ulta to get my hair did & was used to a blow dry being included in the price but at Blu its not included & is an extra $45. I still got it done the first time I went & one other time for a special occasion but otherwise I told my stylist I just couldn't afford it. As soon as I uttered the phrase "can't afford it" I detected a slight shift in her warmth towards me but I hoped I was just imagining it.
I kept going back though & every time I did I told her I didn't want the glaze included in my services. For three months in a row I told her that I didn't want the glaze. Then one day I forgot to mention it & as the girl was shampooing my hair I realized I hadn't mentioned it. I figured by then my stylist knew it though. At the Ulta I used to go to in the city, it was the same thing, I'd told my stylist several times I didn't want to get the glaze & she remembered & never gave it to me except once when she gave it to me complimentary.
So I assumed it would be the same at Blu but I had a bad feeling about it as I was starting to just get a kind of off feeling about the place in general. So, I decided to see what would happen if I just didn't remind the girl who was shampooing my hair that I didn't want the glaze and if my stylist would still charge me for it. I kind of did it as a test at that point as I was getting an off feeling about her at that point. Well, sure enough she charged me for the glaze.
As I was paying she was on her phone but she was standing right by the reception desk. I told the receptionist that I don't get the glaze & the words were barely out of my mouth when my stylist rushed over & apologized & told the receptionist to take it off the price. Which is nice but I just had a bad feeling about it. I have no proof of course if this is the case or not but I felt like she was just trying to see if she could slip it into the price & I wouldn't notice.
That was when I'd finally had enough & decided not to go back. I always tip at least 20% & had even given her an Xmas bonus despite the fact that I had literally just met her but she never seemed appreciative at all. So yeah, I was just getting bad vibes all around. I'm giving 2 stars b/c I did think she did a great job on my color but I'm not paying all that $ to have people be rude to me or try to rip me off. From now on I'll stick with Ulta where I actually feel valued as a customer.

Prices have risen astronomically. They won't tell you what the price of your cut and dye is until after and then it's pretty much a car payment for subpar work. Nothing special. Complained and was told there are different tier stylist when I had the same thing done for half the price the year prior. I don't see this place making it in the long run. Sorry boo but it's extortion. We r all struggling no need to rob people. Shame on. You.

I have been going to Blu Salon for about two years now. Everyone in the salon is very friendly and helpful. Facilities are very clean and they are very good at scheduling and being COVID cautious. The highlight of the salon is my amazing hair stylist Shannon! She is great at cutting, styling and suggesting products. Not only she is AMAZING at what she does, she makes me feel comfortable and heard and answers all of my concerns when I want to change my haircuts. Shannon has been my stylists for over 6 years and there is no other person I would trust my hair. I definitely recommend her to anyone.

I've been wanting to get my hair done for a long time and I the lady that did my hair took advantage of me. We both agreed for a simple balayage and I showed her a picture. My hair didn't come out like the picture and it looked exactly as my hair did when I started. They tried to make me pay $300.00 for a color job that was not like anything we agreed for. The people were disrespectful and snooty. Thank you Blu salon for ruining my dream of getting my hair done. Go here if you want to get ripped off and unsatisfied.

$200 for 2 haircuts without blow drying? I mean I have never paid this much money in Beverly Hills, CA or Paris for such a poor uneven haircut! Left the place with wet hair. They charge extra deposit due to covid but the place was so filthy. The hairstylist who cut my mom's hair didn't even wash her hands after smoking cigarettes! No Thank You!

I just moved to the area and wanted to love this salon since I'm looking for my new "go to" place. I got a last minute appointment for a cut and blowout. After the salon cut my hair, the power went out. We waited around 10 minutes to see if they would get power back so they could blow dry my hair and it didn't. Not their problem. What I didn't like is that they still charged me $90 (not including tip) for just a wash & cut.
I asked if I could receive a discount for not getting my hair blown out but was told no. They were well aware that I was a new customer looking for a salon, even offering for me to come back at a later time would do. I understand they were closed for a while but I think they need to focus a little bit more on the customer satisfaction especially when it's a new potential client! Long story short, I will not be returning to this salon.

Pretty disappointed in this place. First off $20 covid charge just to walk thru the door? Talk about a scam to your customers or to anyone!second no blow dry? Then change your prices. and if your getting color the girl at the desk advised you will be sitting outside? Really 90' degrees or winter im sitting outside? Plenty of other salons out there.
Terrible they just lost 6 customers who all do color, cut, wax & man/ped Love the owners response. we all are affected! So a $20 fee everytime? That is a scam and nervy nobody else is doing that. My information was all from the front desk. We have already found other places not needing to up prices or hit us with a fee Shame on them. Typical

Love love love this place! Everyone is always so nice, accommodating and punctual. I do my regular pedicures with Blanca or Chrissy! I would 100% recommend either for a outstanding spa pedicure service. I swear every time I leave with brand new feet and it lasts. These ladies are so sweet and get the job done and most importantly take their time. I get my acrylic done with Sonya and her execution is amazing.
Such clean work, she gets your shape just right and always has the best color choices. Not to mention she is always concerned for the well being of your nails and pays attention to any of your concerns as well. And of course her work is always outstanding. Highly highly recommended!

Blu salon is the definition of elegance and sophistication when it comes to styling hair. The moment you walk into the building you instantly feel at ease. When it comes to the styling, Gil is the best in the business. His fades are flawless, his scissor work is unmatched, and when it comes to his precision, there is no one in the game that can touch him.
I have been going there for over 5 years and I wont let anyone else touch my hair. Oh, and the complimentary coffee, tea, cucumber and lemon-water is a nice touch. For the best cut and styling experience, there is no place better than Blu Salon.

Drita does a great blow out, especially if you have thick hair. Just know she takes a long time & can be a talker so be prepared. But the hair looks amazing so.! Cat was an excellent and super helpful colorist. She "got" exactly what I was going for and it looks great. Nikki is a solid stylist who works really closely with you to give you the look you are aspiring to.and she's good people to boot. Here's what I don't love: 1).Almost every time I leave a color session, I have stains on my forehead from the color.
All it takes to get rid of it is soap, water & paying attention. I always ask and I'm almost always told I'm good but then get home and see really obvious stains. Wish everyone there would pay more attention to the details - that's a pet peeve of mine, especially when you're paying $110 for a single process root touch up and $55 for a blowout. 2) You never know who you're gonna get at the front desk, a consummate and capable professional - like Steve or Tara - who is nice and friendly AND whom I'd ask about services, or the annoying fast talker i got tonight who couldn't be more exasperated when asked them to repeat the mush they just said and whose advise about which services or stylists are right for me I'd NEVER ask. The front desk is, to me, the most important job in a service business and I wish they'd be more consistent.

Over this weekend I had an appointment with Gil for a haircut. I'm currently pregnant and was experiencing severe morning sickness. I called and said I would be a little late because I was ill. I showed up 13 minutes late and they refused to see me, I even asked if I could see someone else and no one would see me. Your front desk didn't care.
Your lack of professionalism and care for a customer made you loose a client. How many times have a client waited to see a stylist and you couldn't do the same? Response: You are blatantly lying stating the front desk asked me to see someone else. Continue to treat customers disrespectfully and no one will return. This is my first yelp review and the salon's unprofessional behavior prompted me to write this.

My wife has been there there a few times in the past and had a good experience. Today she showed up 13 minutes late because she is pregnant and has morning sickness. We called ahead to let them know we would be late and still Gil refused to take her. This is unprofessional and shows a lack of compassion. They have now lost a customer. Either your staff lied to you or your lying but they never offered us another stylist.

I just moved to this area, didn't know where to go for my haircut. Searched for a good one. Trusted the reviews of Blu Salon. Since I didn't know anyone there, I couldn't pick a stylist. Stylist named Drita ended up cutting, coloring my hair. I absolutely loved it. She was professional, kind and very knowledgeable of telling me the tips how to take care of my hair. I am definitely going back to Drita at Blu Salon!

I wasn't thrilled with my hair, even after explaining what I wanted and the process took very long. However, the manager called me, apologized and wanted to make things right, so I decided to update my review solely on customer service. While I would choose a different stylist moving forward, the place is spacious, clean and offers a variety of services.

The staff is very friendly but I've had some bad experiences having my hair dyed. The first time was not what I requested and it was very crunchy the next few days after having it done. Although I love the stylist, she's so sweet. the second time to fix it (3 weeks later), as a courtesy they did not charge, except for blow drying. all the color washed out 2 days later after using the recommended shampoo except for a few random streaks.
I was sincerely hoping this could be my go-to salon for hair coloring but i haven't had much luck. Please keep in mind that the staff is truly kind and so try, I would recommend them for hair cuts, they are good and clean.

Update- the manager's response below is a complete LIE from start to finish. I came in for a consult and as a courtesy to them m, came in for another consult because they forgot about my first one, plain and simple. I didn't have any special requests (other than being treated professionally, apparently this one is hard for them to do). So I'll add to the mix that this salon is staffed by LIARS as well as jerks. Read the reviews of this place for yourself - Blu Salon treats its customers like garbage and has major issues with its front desk and booking.

Salon was amazing from setting up the appointment to checking up after the fact. The stylist, Gil, was lovely to talk to and gave me an amazing haircut. He was incredibly detailed throughout the whole process which I had never seen from any other stylist I've gone to! I will definitely be coming back!

I didnt know any of the stylists yet so I made an appointment with a lady named Anna, she was so sweet, helpful and yet it is the third day of my hair it holds very well! Thanks Anna and all the pleasant Blu Salon staff :) See you next week;)

To be fair, the final product was great. I really like how my hair turned out. However, their customer service and business standards are poor. My stylist was apparently doubled-booked because she kept coming back and forth between me and another customer. While my hair was 1/2 dry, not ideal. Also, when I called to make my appointment I was quoted one price and then they tried to charge me $10 more than that when I checked out. Again. high talent, great products. I just expect more than that for their prices.

Best hair salon in New Jersey! Not only do they have amazing hair / color services, but also have makeup, spray tans and nails. I also got a spray tan a couple months ago prior to a girls weekend in Miami and I could have been more thrilled! The color was beautiful! Usually when I use any type of tanning lotion / cream, I end up an orangery color, but the color here was so natural! I won't go anywhere else for hair cuts and have been going for years! Highly recommend.

Your hair is getting a little too long. Men's haircuts used to be about as complicated and as pleasant as washing your domesticated cat, but the wave of metrosexual hair styles have made landfall at my workplace, and I embraced it whole-heartedly. Most Macklemore and David Beckham body doubles venture out to Gotham City and purchase expensive hair products made from space-age polymers, but I grew tired of following this route.
Being a relative suburbanite, venturing to Manhattan to get a haircut is akin to traveling to the Ganges to bathe Fluffers. Blue Salon happens to be the perfect compromise when commuting to the center of New York is simply too cumbersome. Located right off River Road in Edgewater, in an area most Koreans call Korea, Blue Salon was filled with middle-aged women trying to color their quickly graying fur.
My stylist of choice was Alliana--pronounced "Ali-ana", and I sincerely hope that most neurosurgeons have as much finesse and hand dexterity. I have been to many different salons and rarely did I encounter a stylist who needed this little an explanation of what I wanted. The haircut was superb, and the fastest I've ever gotten. Most hair artists are not dissimilar from yelpers: their laconic-intolerence is legendary.
Not Alliana! I cannot overemphasize how grateful I am to not have to listen to how many dogs or parakeets you own, and how Obama is destroying America, or field questions about how I make my living. Alliana was simply the professional's professional. I will definitely be back.
