In 1997, In The Village opened its doors as a quaint cottage located in the antique country of Mullica Hill, NJ. In 2002, the adjoining Giumarello home was completely remodeled into an elegant, cozy salon, featuring a day spa with relaxing and rejuvenating body and skin treatments. To accommodate a growing clientele and community, In The Village opened a second location in 2010 in nearby Woolwich Township.
Hair is a statement of individuality. Our team of stylists here at In The Village is trained to discern each client's individuality through studying the texture of your hair, your facial bone structure, and your lifestyle. Each hair appointment is personalized to suit your needs and desired look. Your hair is a reflection of your personality.
Stress, diet, and daily environmental aggressors trigger imbalances in the body such as acne, sensitivity, pain, and premature aging. Our team of Spa Therapists will design a customized treatment for you based on your needs. We will help you achieve balance by recommending the appropriate techniques, self-care, and products that are right for you!
Treat your nails to filing, cuticle treatment, hand massage, and an application of your favorite polish. Our manicure includes a wrapped warm paraffin to seal in moisture, filing the nails, cuticle treatment including warm towels, a deep tissue hand massage, and ending with an application of your favorite polish.

I've been getting facials and massages at In the Village for a fews. However, I got a facial as a gift in August and was disappointed. The facial mediocre and the specialist wouldn't put a mask on. I asked her if she could put a mask or a shield during the facial since she would be in close proximity; however she kept "reassuring" me she didn't hVe covid. Thankfully I am vaccinated but I kept my mask on when I could. I recently went another salon and the policy was all employees masked so customers were not put in an uncomfortable situation.

I was going here for over a year and it was great! The last time I went, I was going from a light blue back to my natural hair color (light brown). I wanted a blonde streak in my hair too! I was told it wouldn't be an issue. I was left with a really splotchy brown color on the rest of my hair, with blue still coming through. The worst part was I was left with brown stripes in the blonde streak!
It looked like grill marks! I was heart broken because the blonde was very over processed and straw like :( I would have never gotten the blonde streak if I knew it would be so damaged. I was left alone with my hair being bleached for a long time with no one checking up on me, so the bleach was left in too long. When they put the brown dye on, I was left with it running down my face as it was dripping a lot, and no one was around.
I went back to get the grill marks bleached out, but they still left a brown stripe right on the top! I had to watch out when the wind blew my hair back because it looked so ridiculous. I didn't want to have to go back for the third time, especially when you have to pay $35 to have it blow dried to not walk out with a wet head for the mistakes they made I paid $250 dollars to have my hair completely botched.
I don't know how to fix it either. I had a lot of medical issues a few years ago, so I lost a lot of my hair until recently. It took me years to grow my hair back to the point of being healthy, and it's so painful to be back at a point where I either damage it more to fix this mistake or live with my hair looking like this.

I have been going to this salon for many years and Cannot say enough about how amazing they are! I had to post this review however, after an exceptional visit this week! I have thyroid disease that recently caused my once long hair to break. It looked awful, and I didn't think much could be done to make it look better until it grew in a little more. Bobbie changed all that!
She took a broken mess of hair and made it look gorgeous! She is a very talented professional, both with color and the cut she did for me made all the broken pieces of hair blend in beautifully! I simply can't say enough!

Called and asked if they had anyone who specializes in curly hair and can do a dry cut. Was told yes, will put you with a senior stylist. Appointment time, they switch me to a junior stylist who obviously did not know what she was doing with curly hair-did not dry cut, didn't even know how to use the diffuser without making frizz. I left looking like a poodle!
She was very sweet, but out of her element. I really wish salon's would not tell clients that they can handle curly hair, when it's obvious they can not, this is not the first salon I had been to to do that. Please just be honest with clients!

I have been getting my hair done here for years. My mother is an In the Village veteran, going on 15+ years! I have been to both salons, one location being Mullica Hill and the other in Woolwich Twp. Both are beautiful salons offering a variety of services including hair, nails, and spa treatments, as well as select products such as Aveda and Tan Towel.
It is extremely clean and well kept. The employees are always extremely polite, professional and accommodating. Highly recommend for a hair cut, full and partial highlight, and a just an overall refreshing and new look!

We were a party of three women going to get our hair styled for my son's wedding. We were not from the area, and have never been to the town before the event. I had ask the wedding venue for suggestions on hair salons and the In the village came up. I had called a month before the event to discuss what we needed, and what the cost would be. I was told any style would be $45.
I explained we all had fairly long hair and we wished for an up do styles, again was told the price is $45. Two days before our appointment I received a confirmation call to be sure we would still be coming, They told me to please come with clean blown dried hair, and the stylist would be done in less than a hour. I inquired once more about pricing and was told it would be $45.
On October 16th we arrived at our scheduled time. Three ladies stylist took us to their chairs and began pinning and hair spraying our hair. we did look nice and it did take about 40 minutes. When I went to pay for our styles I was now told the charge would be $210? silly me I had only brought $165 because the styles were supposed to be $135 and I thought $10 tip per person was fair.
When I asked why I was now being charged $70 and the receptionist said because you all had a up do's? I had explained that what we were supposed to get from the beginning. I ended up having to charge the amount because I was not prepared for the expense. They did give me a mere %10 off for not discussing their many different styling fees. Ladies make sure you get it in writing what cost what with this salon, because it obviously changes daily. The receptionist was not very friendly or empathic when I question our charges. I would not recommend this salon.

Nice salon. Feel out of place there (as a guy); however went there first time with wife. There was one other husband. 99% ladies. It again was a very nice lady place. My wife now goes there, and is happy with results. Right across from the Amish market. Several stylists, colorists, assistants - find whom is a good match for you. My wife is a fan of Crystal the colorist.

I have been going to In the Village since it was a quaint little cottage! I watched it grow over the years but it always kept that small cottage feel. What was once a hair salon has expanded into a full service salon and spa. You are made to feel comfortable and part of the salon as soon as your are greeted at the door! I would highly recommend In the Village to anyone new to the area or someone just looking for a new salon!
