Val and her attentive assistant made my day with natural products and a great cut. Price was about 25% less then a Philly but 100% better. Easy peasy free parking in back lot. Val has done wonders to my hair! This is my third time having Val work on my hair and each time I am more impressed. She blends my highlights naturally and I love how she shapes my hair. After two haircuts with Val my hair is thicker and feels so much healthier.

I have waited years to get the courage to cut my hair short, and I finally walked into Solo with a picture of what I wanted and decided to go through with it. I could not be more thrilled with the results. Despite my thick hair, Val skillfully wielded the razor to thin my hair and produce the final product I was looking for. Wow, Val! I went in to Solo with plum black hair and maybe 2 inches of regrowth and this woman took me from that mess to a gorgeous sandy blonde with platinum underneath for a really beautiful effect. Val took a lot of time and care to make sure my hair could safely undergo this transformation. I will not go to anyone else to get my hair done. Thanks Val and Judy for all your hard work!

Val is by far the best stylist to ever cut my hair. She knows what she's doing, gives smart recommendations, and always does an awesome job. I grew up in South Jersey, lived in NYC for many years, and currently live in San Francisco and I still have yet to find someone who can cut my hair like Val. Her cuts make my hair look thicker and fuller and she's taught me how to manage and style my curly hair.

She won't allow crazy requests like bangs (I have super curly hair) and instead will make better recommendations like long layers that frame my face.a much better decision than what I thought I wanted. Unlike other salons I've been to, there's no product pushing. At times she'll recommend products but you never feel obligated to purchase anything at the end of your session.

My husband and I have been traveling around the country for the past 8 months, so I have been getting haircuts and color touch-up all over the place. The best one by far: here at Solo. Val listened to me and had a good sense of what would work for me and my face. In fact I use the "after" pix from this cut to show other hairdressers what I want done. I have VERY CURLY hair. Frizz, not pretty ringlets. I went to Valerie after I had a horrible incident from another salon and one person in particular. I had to let me hair go back to curly with no blow drying or putting any chemicals in my hair to allow it to repair. So I had to find someone who knew how to cut very curly hair, in a style that looked good on me.

It is not easy to find anyone that knows how to cut curly hair in more than one style or even know how to a good job in that one style. I found Valerie through the recommendation of another curly hair friend. THANK YOU! Valerie can cut anyone's hair! If you can cut curly you can cut hair. She is not a one hair cut woman. I have gotten compliments where other woman have stopped me to ask who cuts my hair.

Go to her. You will be happy. Since I have been going to Valerie for a long time, my hair repaired, and now I have her cut my hair so I can blow dry my hair when I want. She honestly can cut hair no matter if you are curly or not. I highly recommend her.

Solo is a cute little shop near the Acme. The owner Valerie is friendly and funny. She makes me laugh. She is a talented stylist who knows how to cut thick, wavy hair. Val has a sign that reads"I am not a magician", but actually she is. I encourage you to let her work her "magic" on your hair!

Joan Wodlinger. I have been with Val for a very long time. Her choice of hair color makes my hair look natural, and she is an expert in cutting/styling! I also have thick curly hair and Val knows exactly what to do with my hair type.
