Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Value Their nail work is very mediocre and not up to date at all. I would not recommend young women to go there because the nail technician is definitely NOT up to date with the trends. Services: Pedicures, Manicures

They screen you on the way in which is great. My daughter and I have been using Shonda for manicures and pedicures for the last 20 years. She is very good as well as knowledgeable about her craft.

I've been going here for at least 10 years. I had given up on my previous hair salon and just walked into Shear Pleasure in desperate need of a hair cut. Maria helped me. She listened to me and did an excellent job. All of the people there are warm and friendly. I haven't gotten a bad cut ever since finding Maria.

Salon is very dated. It's a bit pricey for the location and services offered. I got because I trust my stylist, Penny. She's a little salty, but very skilled. I trust her to do what she thinks is best.

I've had my haircut done by Louie a couple times and he always does a fantastic job. Today, I had a quick trim done by George. I showed him a photo of what I wanted and it turned out perfectly! Will definitely be coming back here regularly.

Gianni has done my hair forever and it's never a worry! Love that they keep current. Busy but not too busy that i cannot get in! Great place always!

I honestly may have just gone on a bad day. My appointment was at 10, Snow got there by 10:30 because of traffic. She seemed a little frazzled and didn't say much, but that's okay we've all been there. She started my nails and still seemed frazzled but slowed down. It took 2 hours to do my full set. I thought it meant they were good quality, they looked great!

Unfortunately within 1 week, 3 nails had broken which has never happened at any salon. I went to get them fixed but had to wait a few days to get in. Contrary to reviews, she still didn't talk much but asked how I broke them and that I must've hit them (I didn't, I opened a cabinet and picked up a tiny box). The front desk told me it would be free to fix, but I still got charged.

No big deal. She deserved a pay. But, when I left, MORE broke. A total of 8. I've spent more money getting them fixed at other salons than if I just went somewhere else to begin with. One of the only ones that didn't break was separated and the new nail tech said I had fungus growing because of water coming in it. I'm disappointed because I read great reviews which brought me in, but I will not be returning.

I went there yesterday for a simple flat ironing my hair, i got charged for $55.00. One time shampoo, no conditioner applied to my hair, no style. just flat iron. The place is too expensive for the services they offering. Poor costumer welcoming at the reception.

They were really really nice there, but the quality was lacking. They left a cut ton of hair on my face and head. The cut shape looked good but on closer inspection it was unevenly done. My barber also didn't really clean up the neck line. For the money, I'd like a little pride in their work!

I've been coming here for over 10 years. I get my hair, nails and waxing done here. Never been disappointed. Pricing is reasonable and the entire staff is wonderful.

Good stylist, but very pricey for no reason. It's like a Hair Cuttery, but family owned and not as crowded.

I love this place. Great stylists. Wonderful job. Been coming here for years. Louie is a great colorist. Always listens to what I say and goes accordingly.

Not a bad place. Clean and mostly professional. But one of the shampoo ladies an older white lady is very very rude. So is the older Hispanic. Tip: find better shampoo assistants who aren't completely ignorant.

The people were nice but unfortunately they didn't finish my hair and still charged me $110 I'm disturbed and highly suggest to any Africa American not go to this salon they have a great set up but aren't trained properly to do our hair

Update: After I called and talked to her, she repaired my nails out of any charge. I really like her mani and pedi! It was so precise. I def go for mani and pedi but i am not sure about Gel! I didi my nails 4 days ago with Snow since she has great reviews. I did gel nail polish, and only after 4 days, they are all chipped or pilled which is wired. I have done gel nail polish before and i had them for 2 weeks! It was sooo disappointing.

Snow is an amazing nail tech! I'm SO glad to have found such an amazing lady who does an excellent job! If you want quality nails done in a very nice relaxing salon as opposed to the salons who depend on volume and will rush you in and out with sub par nails, this is THE ONLY place to go! Professional staff and a warm welcoming environment are what await.

Snow is Awesome it was my first time for a wax and it was a good experience. stings yes but no pain. Great place, excellent customer service. Clean establishment.will be returning

Snow is AMAZING! It has been 2 years since my last brazilian. I was fed up with shaving and creams and all that mess but all I could think of was the pain associated with the process. I was determined to tame the madness and thank God.and Yelp reviews because they led me to Snow. I felt so relaxed and comfortable that when it was time to undress I didnt think twice about hopping on that table! LOL. I didn't get the brazilian but oh I can't wait for my next appointment because I see it in my future. Thanks Snow and see you soon!

It's been over a year since I've gone to get my eyes brows waxed after one horrific experience. Because of Snow and her great work, my latest eyebrow experience was delightful. She maintained the thickness and cleaned up my eyes brows which is what I had asked for. I'm ready for my next waxing appointment in the next few weeks!

I cannot say enough good things about Snow and how happy I have been with the services I have had done. I've had a mani, pedi, and eyebrows done many many times. Each time was awesome. She does excellent work. And really takes time to get things perfect! And I will say my feet are awful ( like I am embarrassed about them) and she always makes crusty heels feel baby smooth with out that cheese grater thing most shops use.

I found Shear Pleasure via Yelp - I wanted to find some place closer to my home that offered better quality than my former salon. My nail technician, Bonnie, is who I've been searching for! She is an artist - meticulous, deliberate and skillful. As she carefully nipped and manicured my nails, Bonnie educated me about nail care and the latest nail techniques. I've never had a nail tech handle my hands, nails and eyebrows with such care. She is amazing - as a result of her work, she's gained herself a regular!

I went to this place because I wanted a place close to work to get my Brazilian done by snow. Ugh. What's mistake. First, when I called they said it cost from $50-$65 depending on the work she had to put in. My hair was no longer than a grain of rice. They charged me $60 and it took her exactly 6 min. I left there with burns and the hair immediately started to grow and I had so many ingrowing hairs it was painful.

I usually go to Tammy (polish) in GT she charges $40 and it's the best Brazilian you can ever get. I don't work in DC any more therefore Tammy is a long way from home. I will travel. I will never visit this place again. Do not go there they do a bad job and they over charge.

I have my nails done here by Bonnie. She is absolutely the best of the best! She is so meticulous and I leave relaxed and very satisfied every time. Her after care is more than can be expected also - she can always squeeze me in to fix a break or a chip between appointments. She also does waxing, and even though it hurts like the dickens, she makes it bearable and much more comfortable than some other places I have gone in the past.

Teresa was amazing! I came in with a horrible at home hair color job. I came to the shop hoping to just make that mess look better. But Teresa was able to make it even better than I could have ever expected. She cut & colored my hair. All I can say is WOW! Her technique for coloring gave just the right heights. The cut was fanatic as well. My hair hasn't looked this good in years.

Wish I had before and after pictures for you guys. Teresa I can't thank you enough for fixing the mess I came in with but thank you again. Although, Teasea was helping me. Everyone there at the salon was kind, and very busy. If you want to make an appointment you may want to call ahead.

Joanne from Shear Pleasures is phenomenal. She made me extremely comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. She made great conversation which distracted me from some of the pain and the awkwardness one would have to endure in the same situation elsewhere. Joanne knows exactly what she is doing. There is no possible way you can be dissatisfied with her service. She's no longer there, but she's still waxing in College Park. I found her by searching "Waxing by Joanne."

NEWS FLASH- Snow is back and in full effect at Shear Pleasure. Also, the Tuesday special is still in. She's still the ABSOLUTE best on the TOES in the DMV. get at her! This review is based on my Mani-Pedi experienceS. SNOW(Shonda) is hands and feet(I wanted to say feets for the non spelling folks;)) down the absolute best in the Washington DC Metro area.

I was introduced to SNOW by my bestie who had her minx done by her. Ever since my first visit(1+ year ago), I have a new found love for the woman. Now, I am a FRUGAL chica and I have been known to purchase various mani-pedi groupons, but those buying days are(and have been) OVA. There's no use wasting my $ on other nail technicians. If it's colors you want, Shonda's got them.

When getting my nails and toesies(;) ) done yesterday, I could NOT figure out what colors I wanted to go with - and it's not because I am indecisive. It's because the woman has mo' colors and mo' colors and mo' colors! Additionally, she's got the most extensive collection of Gel colors that I have seen - I didn't even know that more than 10 or so colors existed as all you see is the basics(blah).

She takes her time shaping, scrubbing, shaping and scrubbing and then some. When leaving yesterday, I pre-paid for an appointment for my Mommy(I LUVS that lady) so that she could experience what I adore. Moreover, so that she could stop wasting her $ at these fluke fluke nail spots that dip your feet in the water, put lotion on them, paint your toes and spray them with the Old School Red Can(ya'll KNOW what I am talking about). Run, don't walk, to see SNOW! p.s. Pedis are discounted on Tuesday's(I hope I don't regret sharing this - because if I can't get an appointment on Tuesday I'm beefing;) )

I love Shonda at Shear Pleasure! I had a horror story for my first brazilian waxing where I went to an Asian Nail Salon. It was so bad actually that I told the woman to just stop and do the bikini line but the damage was already done. Just think of the Steve Carell in the 40 year old virgin waxing scene and you'd have a pretty good picture of what happened.

A few days later I found Shonda on yelp and thought the reviews sounded good. Not to mention there are not many places that do waxing in the Silver Spring/College Park area. After leaving her I loved the finish product and didn't have to return for another 4-6 weeks. I now have gone back a second time and think I am going to become a regular. $50 well spent by going to Shonda.
