I've never felt worse about myself than the way I did after leaving this salon for a simple trim. Not only was the woman flat out mean to me but cut an extra 4 inches off of my hair. Then proceeded to give me the worst blow dry I've ever had. I hope this young blonde woman knows who she is and knows how incredibly hurt I was at the way you treated me.

I am so careful with the pandemic and this was one of the handful of times I was in a public setting in TWO years and your treatment of me left me crying the entire night. I don't know what happened to you that day but man it must have been horrible to slaughter another woman's hair the way you did. Truly took my confidence away from me. I will never be getting another haircut for the rest of my life.

Never have anyone that is color blind cut and color your hair. After an unprofessional and incompetent first round with the owner, I actually tried him again. that was a mistake. I would avoid this place. Rude, incompetent, and over priced.

This was a blast from the past! When walking in I could smell the Aveda products and I felt at ease knowing I was in good hands. Christine was my artist and chopped off almost 9 inches! Now that's trust! I'll definitely be back.

I have been going to Ben E Salon for 15 years. Friendly staff at the front desk, very personable stylists, and cannot say I have had ine bad experience. Vance, Ben, and RJ are great for mens hair.

I love the stylist however their female receptionist is very frustrating and continually counter minds you - first experience was able to put my tip on my card. Last visit she told me we only accept cash. Said is this new policy because I was able to put tip on card last time. She came back very aggressively said I was wrong and that never has been the policy. Needless to say went and got cash for my stylist, however given this salons support staff and really this one woman, not sure I want to go back. Overall if you don't encounter this receptionist - great stylists and great staff.sad this salon is impacted by one rude woman.

This salon is so nice! I was able to make a same day appointment with Stephanie. She was amazing. Consulted with me before she did anything & asked my opinion on it all. She explained the process and the products she was going to do. She gave me a price at the very BEGINNING to make sure I could pay for it. She absolutely killed my hair cut and color! It's beautiful, so soft, exactly the color I wanted, and to top it off, she was very easy to chat with. 10/10 I'd recommend Stephanie! Her co-workers were telling her what a beautiful job she'd done.

Maybe this place was amazing 20 or 30 years ago. The walls are dirty with hair and stains, the washing chairs are broken and uncomfortable, and the salon and stylist are out of date. It was super disappointing. If you are over 60 go for it.

Friendly and welcoming. Not intimidating for a very infrequent spa visitor. Lillian (nails) was friendly, polite and did an amazing job on my non-spa ready feet! I would visit this spa again.

I have never been to an Aveda Salon, in fact I have never been to a salon outside of where I live. Gold Coast Chicago. Imelda did an amazing job, both with color and short piecey haircut. I would absolutely make a trip back to the burbs to see her again.

As a working professional it's a fine line between having color and having too much vibrancy. But these guys did perfect in helping brighten what they already had, and fix the layers. I would 100% recommended them to anyone and everyone!

The staff here is nice and helpful, Zofia is an amazing hairdresser who is always up for my random creative shenanigins from fohawks to punk shaves. I love this place and highly recommend it.

I would have given 5 stars because Imelda was great with my short hair but waiting forever at the front desk to pay is frustrating. Front desk customer service not what you would expect at an upscale salon.

I did a donation to Locks of Love so I went from long to very short. RJ was my stylist and he did a great job. He was ready for me as soon as I got there, my service started with consultation and then a wonderful scalp massage followed by a great shampoo. I prefer to not make small talk while getting my service and RJ didn't try to get a conversation going. Overall I had a very relaxing experience And got a cute pixie hair cut.

I went in the first time to get an acrylic fill-in and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. My technician Lily did a wonderful job. I will be coming again for sure!

Kristine fixed my botched blonde highlight job that I got at Trendsetters in Elgin, it was horrific. She is great and remembers everything I liked before, highly recommend her!

I went to see Kristine for mens hair coloring and cut. She used a new product that only required minutes to touch up the color followed by a great cut. I highly recommend her to business professionals wanting to look great!

It is worth the drive for me to come here and see heather to get my eyebrows done. She knows what she is doing and she never lets me down! A visit with heather is worth your time and money.

I have been getting my eyebrows waxed by heather for almost 4 years. She is amazing! She takes her time and makes them perfect for your face and shape. I won't go to anyone else.

I will give my stylist 5 stars, as she was very friendly and did a fantastic job on my hair. However, the salon itself is 2-3 stars at best. It is in need of a few updates. I got the feel that it is run by older people that are set in their ways, with little in the ways of creativity. I felt sorry for the stylists, as they had to make excuses for the dilapidated chair at the wash bowl, which mind you was HORRIBLE!

Anyone with back issues would likely not be able to sit in this chair. What would it take to invest in a good chair for what your clients are paying? The hair stations are "meh" at best, with little to the eye. The tipping process was strange. You have to leave a tip for your stylist in a small envelope that they collect at the end of their shift.

I was unprepared for this, as I usually include in the bill. Who knew?! I had to leave and go to the ATM, and come back to leave my tip. That alone annoyed me. That said, I will not be going back. I had my hair done previously at Salon Shea, but thought I'd try new places as I am new to the area. I will be going back to Salon Shea. I suggest you try them as well and skip Ben E Salon. Great experience with the staff at Ben E Salon with last minute appointments yesterday. After one shower in the well water around here, my hair turned completely orange and Polina was able to not only fix my color, but make it even better than it was originally. She is also just an incredibly lovely human, so it was a great way to spend a couple of hours.

I also booked a facial and eyebrow wax with Heather who was so sweet, professional, and super thorough with the extractions. :- I highly recommend and will definitely be back the next time I am in town!

I didn't know what a good haircut was until I came here. Their stylists are all very friendly and well trained. Vance has been my go to for the last 2 years. For a men's haircut the price isn't bad, and I always stock up on a few products while I'm there. Just be prepared to make appointments well in advance as their more popular stylists book up fast.

Today I went to Ben E. Salon for my third visit. I usually go to Polina for my hair appointments (she is amazing!) but she is currently on a maternity leave and I was in desperate need of a haircut so I scheduled an appointment with Kristine. From the very beginning of the appointment she was extremely kind and detailed with questions she had about what I wanted done to my hair.

She did a terrific job on my haircut, I love it so much! She didn't push product too much which made me feel more at ease because most salons I go to hammer me to buy products. I ended up buying the product that she recommended though because it isn't super heavy and gave my hair the results I had been looking for. Overall, a very good experience! This is a great Salon, I grew up here in Barrington and there is no salon in the town that can beat it. Nicole is the BEST! if you need to get your hair highlighted like I do every month I would ask for Nicole, I drive all the way from the city sometimes to see her if my regular stylist is not available. BEST CUT AND COLOR.

I drive 3 hours to get my brows done by heather! She is the BEST! Today I added on a facial as a special treat to myself and it was amazing! Truly a relaxing retreat, highly recommend.

I've been going to Ben E. Salon for 16 years. I have lived in 7 towns since I started going there, and I still always made a pilgrimage back to B.E.S. for my haircuts and color. That's how good they are. I can't even tell you how many other salons I have tried in the various towns I lived in, and I was always disappointed. They didn't compare.

I can go to B.E.S. with no clue about what to do to my hair, so I tell my stylist to make a recommendation. She always comes up with something I love. The service is so friendly and professional, from the moment you walk in the door until the moment you walk out. If your hair or body need a little attention, or if you want to change your look, I'd tell you to go here!

I come here for my eyebrow waxes, and considering I'm only in town 3x a year this is saying something (um, i do get my eyebrows waxed MORE than three times a year, I just come here whenever I'm in town). I still haven't found someone as good as Christine in SF, and I can always get a day-of appointment. Unfortunately, the prices have risen like crazy. When I used to come here it was $11, now it's $20! WTF, Ben E. Salon, this is Barrington.
