I am retiring after running the salon for the past 21 years after my husband (and Shylocks' founder) August Chemotti passed away in 1995. It has been quite a journey, and I would personally like to thank all of you, our clients, and especially the many talented stylists that have worked here through the years. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Kelly Neyland, my manager for the last 14 years, for her support. As I step away from the physical Shylocks location, I will still be managing the sale of our fabulous Shylocks Oil through our website and at limited salons.

Shylocks of Fifth Avenue was founded in 1973 by August Chemotti, a 26 year-old hairdresser from Southern California with a dream. August chose Marin County to pursue his dream of creating a salon that catered to the health and beauty of hair. He developed the Shylocks Signature Line of products - Shylocks Oil and Earth Mist - with this dedication in mind.
Shylocks Signatgure Oil was developed over 20 years ago by our founder to promote healthy, shiny hair. Our Signature Oil absorbs into the hair shaft to strenghthen dry, damage hair. The oil should be distributed throughout the hair from root to tip using a fine tooth comb, prior to shampooing. Shylocks Signature Oil is made of all natural ingredients and is great for your skin as well.
