My rating is a combination of experiences with two stylists. One was inexperienced; my simple cut took 2x the time, and she "didn't have time" to get my cut the way I asked. The second stylist is very experienced but has poor taste IMO. He can probably execute on specific requests just fine, but I wouldn't ask for his recommendation on a style. I went for a cut before an important event abroad and he did a style that didn't complement my features or preferences. I got it re-cut while abroad.

Your always greeted kindly and warmly when you go here. Kristen, the esthetician, is amazing! Very friendly, makes you very comfortable, and extremely good. She's happy to adjust things to your personal tastes rather than try to fit you into a mould, too. I've had several haircuts there, too, and they were all good. My usual stylist had to move so I'll be trying a new one here soon and I'm very optimistic.

Kristen is the best. Waxing, massages, and facials you HAVE to book with her. Waxing, she always makes you comfortable. She is full of tips and tricks to make it a great experience and her aftercare tips are freaking on point. Facials, she uses Aveda products so they're great for your body besides the obvious. Spa days aren't just for ladies either. My husband loves these too. We don't go to anyone else. So happy I found out about Kristen!

Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism As a guy I was tired of going to a classic barber and getting the same high-low haircut for 8 years so I decided to go to a hair stylist instead. It's a little bit more expensive but well worth it. Their professionalism will help you find the perfect style and deliver the best cut of your life. Services: Hairstyling, Haircut

Pretty much every experience I've ever had here has been underwhelming to bad. I've had makeup and hair done here, in updos and just cuts. Their products mess my hair up and frankly, I had to completely redo my makeup after I went here before my wedding. I wish I could recommend this local business. I didn't even get water last time. :

Salon St. Louis is such a gem located across the street from beautiful Tower Grove Park. I just had an appointment with my stylist, Tim, last night. He is amazing at cut and color and I always leave with the professional look one would expect from such a reputable salon. He listens well and gives advice on current trends in the industry while performing at top levels of service.
The owner, Marie, believes in satisfied clients and uses personal touches, signage, and her phone calls to make this 30 minute drive well worth it for me as I feel like a valued client. Thank you for maintaining a welcome and safe space for my first appointment after the mandated closures.

Yesterday I learned that a.bigger salon doesn't always mean better. I went to this salon with the intention of getting an up do for my wedding. I had a little picture with me, and it looked simple, but admittedly i have thin/fine hair. Instead of maybe telling me this isn't a good idea at this point, the stylist (Kelsie?) Says she can do it, but is sighing, .hands shaking, etc.
I could already tell this wasn't going to go well. It didn't. My hair ended up being teased to give it volume like we were in 1986. I didn't like it. My maid of honor didn't like it. Not knowing what to do, I gently told the stylist that my hair was too frizzy for me (it looked like when small children fall asleep with beautiful hair styles, and wake up 2 hours later after a beautiful nap.
At this point, my maid of honor and I exchange awkward text messages. I quickly come to the realization that my hair on my wedding day is just going to be f#$ked. I just let it go and go pay. Back at the station where.my maid of honor is getting her hair done, she asks me.if I'm ok with my hair. At this point I'm 99 percent done, but I just tell her it's ok.
This is when is it gets really WILD! The stylist who had done my jank looking hair comes over and starts literally yelling at us because we texted in front of her and we were being "unkind". Apparently this entire situation is my fault because I did not get a consultation. After her fit, she then offers to fix my hair. As if I'm going to have the same angry lady style my hair poorly twice. Honey.if you can't do hair then you can't do hair.
Against my better judgement, I still paid and tipped this lady. I should have just been the Karen that I know I can be. I left the salon crying and I called my normal stylist who isn't currently doing hair due to Covid. She begrudgingly accepted to do my hair, so I had to spend the drive home digging a ton of poorly placed pins out of my hair.
I then had to wash out the bank style, etc. The hair stylist who was out of commission due to Covid, fixed my hair in 30 minutes, charged 20 bucks and it looked 1 thousand percent better than the original, much longer style.

This review is for Spa St. Louis: A sanctuary in the middle of St. Louis. I stayed at Hotel St. Louis for conference, and was in dire need of a haircut and color. Miranda cut and did subtle balayage on my hair to mimic Sandra Bullock's hair in Ocean's Eight. She hit it out of the ballpark! Spot on. Couldn't be happier.

I had gone MANY, MANY years without a professional haircut. I came to Salon St. Louis needing about 6 inches cut off to get my hair back to a healthy length. Ben was so kind and did a fantastic job cutting my hair. I have been receiving so many compliments from friends and coworkers on the new haircut which is always a nice bonus! The staff was so kind and accommodating and I was offered many extra complimentary treatments (scalp massage, paraffin dip) which made me feel very pampered. I will definitely be a repeat customer!

We have been to Salon St. Louis three times. And, the experience is really hit or miss, depending on who you see. The person we had a great experience with is not gone. Having read good reviews about Hunter, we booked with her. She was so unfriendly! She didn't speak to my teenaged daughter ONCE during the appointment. She skipped the paraffin treatment.
She cut my daughter's hair 1. less than we asked 2. unevenly. What was supposed to be a pleasant day out became very uncomfortable. We will NOT return to Hunter again. And, I am hesitant to book with anyone else there now, too. I am looking elsewhere for future haircuts and suggest others do the same.

I was very happy with my experience here. Matthew did a great job! I would go as far as to say it's probably my favorite hair cut I've ever gotten. It took me a minute to get used to it because I cut a lot off and I usually like to restyle my own hair, but I love the cut! They give you a scalp massage before washing your hair and it's amazing and also have a complementary paraffin dip for your hands. I'm a student and was given a student discount as well. Needless to say, I was very happy, will definitely go back, and will be sure to request Matthew in the future!

I had a great experience getting my hair cut at this salon. The environment was fun and cool. They offered me a beverage while I waited which was nice. I loved my hair stylist Lyndy who I felt was very real and professional with me. She understood what I wanted and gave me a great haircut. The only disappointment of the experience was that they ran out of the wax for the complimentary hand treatment so I was not able to take advantage of it. I will be returning soon though!

If you are looking for a local neighborhood salon for haircuts and brows in the south city / tower grove area this is your place! Meredith cut my hair and was amazing; while this was probably the longest (time wise) haircut I've ever had, it was because of the attention to detail that was conducted to ensure my hair was cut to perfection! I have already recommended this place and Meredith to everyone that has complimented my new bangs!

I've been here to get my hair cut several times, mostly due to it's close proximity to my house. Their prices, at least for cuts/trims, seem reasonable (I pay $36 but it depends on the stylist and their level apparently). Not sure what pricing is like for color or other services. I don't know if I just don't have the proper vocabulary or what, but I can never seem to get across what it is that I'm looking for to a stylist.
I try to go in with a pretty clear idea of what I want, and a picture if possible, but I always get flustered and feel like an idiot. I've never had a bad cut here, but at the same time I feel like she holds back for fear of doing something I'm not going to like. That being said, after my last visit and a very "meh" cut, I decided I wouldn't be back. Maybe I should have just tried a different stylist, but I always kind of feel weird about switching within the same salon and find it easier to just move on.
