Studio 890

I am always amazed how my stylist creates the haircut I want. She is very easy to talk to about changes that I ask for. Very talented and welcoming.

I have been coming to Studio 890 for a few years now the Salon itself- super modern, clean, and chic. I went in for a color and cut by Nikki since I am going on vacation in a couple of weeks. This was my second consult with her as my previous hairstylist was no longer with them. I never had a horrible experience with them like I did this past week.

I informed her I wanted to incorporate more blond as my ends were still light brown and showed her a picture of what I wanted. I also explained how I wanted my haircut, trim my ends only with long layers and face framing. Nikki started placing foils in my hair and started the lighting process. You can not place foils and bleach however and expect good results.

When lighting process was done my ends were still left brown and she stated she couldn't get that hair lightened. Toner was placed and the color I was left with was a dark gray, white, ash blond color with brown ends. I believe the color was even darker than what I had prior to coloring. In the past I would look at a couple of swatches before toner was placed.

We started the haircut and she proceeded to shear off the brown ends thinning my hair out BADLY. I have the smallest ponytail now as she really did cut off all my hair. I was left with a mullet on the back and missing the front length to my hair. I came in 2 days later to try and correct (last 4 pictures) and went with a darker blond hoping to get rid of the different tones. D was the sweetest and really truly wanted to help, but my hair was passed saving as the haircut couldn't be fixed.

I was advised to let it grow back and to come back to get haircut corrected. I consulted with Tim (Owner) wishing to be refunded as this experience was so upsetting. He believed this to be a miscommunication, I did not agree as I explained to Nikki and even showed her a picture. He informed me no refund would be issued do to policy, I was left feeling really terrible after that conversation.

I will have to continue to wear a beanie and my hair in a clip as this does not grow over night and will be looking for a new hair salon. The first picture was how my hair looked going into consult and second was the first color I was left with. I don't even care what color my hair is anymore, this haircut has left me so traumatized.

Thank you Studio 890 for making my wedding day so so special! Claire did my hair and Alexa did my makeup, and Madeline did my sister's hair. All three of these ladies did an incredible job flawlessly executing exactly what my sister and I had envisioned! Not only that, everyone at the Studio was so kind. I couldn't have asked for a better space to get my glam on I highly recommended checking out Studio890-especially for their bridal services and experience!

Reception lady extremely rude and impatient. I think her name was Maria or Mary. Definitely needs to work on her customer connection skills. Gave me attitude the entire call and hung up on me. I'm planning on canceling my appointment. Unbelievable. I'm sure their work is good but i'm not gonna go to a hair salon that treats people like crap

I have been to this location several times over the past couple years and have to say i have never had a good experience. i wanted to give it another chance so i called today to see if there was an opening for a quick haircut. they offered the hairdresser ashley, and scheduled my appointment. ashley was five minutes late for my appointment with no apology or acknowledgment whatsoever. she briefly asked what i wanted and that was the most of the conversation we had my entire appointment. all services seemed rushed like she was trying to get back on schedule for her next client or something. when blow drying my hair, she did not use any type of heat protectant or product. she also did not ask me how i wanted my hair to be styled, blow dried my curly hair straight with no product- so you can imagine how poofy and frizzy it was- took my cape off, and lead me to the front desk to pay. to top it all off, the haircut was $50 before tip. all i've ever gotten there has been $35 for a cut. i asked about this and the front desk woman explained ashley was a "master designer" and this price is typical for her. maybe it's just me, but my experience did not at all seem what should be expected of a "master designer"'s work. i would have at least appreciated notice of this price increase when i scheduled my appointment over the phone. very disappointed and regretting giving this place another chance. save your money and your time and go somewhere else.

I have been a client at Studio 890, Elm Grove for over 20 years and have always had positive experiences! I like to change my hair, entirely, and often and Karissa has done a fabulous job keeping up with my ever- changing look. She is phenomenal! I have seen other stylists here and have been happy with every one. This salon is highly professional, very clean and offers premium services and products.

I moved away from the area and still made it a point to get my hair done when I came back to town. My children also come to this salon and Claire does a lovely job on my 4 year old son. She is very patient and does a fast and amazing job. We will never go any place else.

Maddie was great! She did my corrective color after I messed my hair up because I couldn't go to a salon during the pandemic. (Note: the color in my profile picture is not the color she did). She did a light cool toned blonde per my request for Summer! I love it and it looks 100% better! The salon is clean and pretty with a relaxing atmosphere. I can't wait for my next appointment

Very disappointed, take your business elsewhere! I typically do not review places, but this place provided me with a really awful experience. I came in to get my hair slightly highlighted right before the holidays. The next day after washing my hair (with color protectant shampoo), I ended up with blotchy, unevenly colored hair! I was sincerely embarrassed to wear my hair down.

It looked like I had done a hair coloring kit at home. Not to mention, feeling upset about having spent $225 for this result. When I called to ask if I could have at least half of my money back, I was told that the stylist would contact me, followed by the manager. To my surprise, the stylist didn't bother to call me; she texted me. After a day of texting the stylist, the manager called, which she frankly sounded annoyed having to deal with my complaint.

She also mentioned that they don't do refunds and that I had to come in to see the same stylist. As you can imagine after seeing the results of the first time around, I didn't want to damage my hair any further. I will definitely NOT be back. Sadly, it is so hard to find a stylist that can actually color hair.

Beware they do not tell you but will start charging fees if you miss the appointment. Understand the courtesy call but there are times one is not able to make it or call. Rude customer service. Not experienced this any other place, they don't know the meaning of being a service business.

Best place in the Midwest for any haircare needs. Full service salon with Designers who excell in their craft.

While the salon is on the pricey side, Kira at Studio 890 is totally worth every penny! She's skilled and talented, and is really devoted to her craft and staying current with trends, which I love! She takes time before she gets to work to do a thorough consultation each time I see her, which I adore because even though she knows me and my hair, Kira takes the time to figure out what I want.

Because we've built this really great relationship, she's also gently talked me out of a drastic change that I definitely would have regretted (going much shorter while pregnant, knowing that my long hair is usually one of my favorite features. I'm still grateful that she knew me well enough to suggest something that worked much better!). The salon is upscale and lux - I love that going there feels like a treat each time!

I travel a great deal with my job and because of this have sampled a variety of Salons throughout the US. Almost every time I finish at another Salon, I find myself saying, " I wish I would have waited until I got back home to go to Studio 890." I have been coming to Studio 890 consistently my entire life. They are innovative, professional and truly a step above their competition. They have two locations. One in Elm Grove and the other in Brookfield. Give them a try. You will not be disappointed.

Jessica was great! In town from CA for a wedding. Up-to was gorgeous, price was reasonable!

I have been getting my hair styled by Leslie since I was 19 (I'm currently 32). She gives the best hair cuts and is always changing things up so I don't get bored. She is also amazing at color (I've had practically every shade). I would definitely recommend her. It is a splurge, but when it comes to hair you get what you pay for. The salon is also very nice and very clean.

Quick service and amiable staff but old fashioned +product overloaded hair is what you'll get here. Went to the salon and after my stylist boasted of her experience with hair I felt comfortable. The cut itself took her about 15 min the rest of the hour long session was spent washing and blow drying. She gave me a conservative trim while overly thinning out my hair that looks worse now than before it was cut.

I told the stylist of my concerns and she responded by spraying tons of product until my hair felt stiff and greasy. The cut does not work with my hair's natural style and I'm so distraught that I'm going to a different salon to have it fixed I too was wondering why there are not many reviews but one visit to the salon and I found out why. The majority of clientele are older men and women who probably don't know what yelp is.

I brought my daughters there a couple of times and they loved it! The staff was pleasant and helpful. They knew I was their mother and did not try to take advantage of them by selling extra things we did not ask for. My girls were treated well and enjoyed the salon experience. We will definitely continue to visit Studio 890 for all of our future needs. Many thanks Studio 890!

Best haircut I've ever gotten, easily. I would highly recommend Eliza. Having given up on trying to find a "cheapo" haircut place (cost cutters, fantastic sams, etc.) in the are that can do an at least decent job on my simple haircut I decided to give this place a try, and boy was I surprised. To begin this place is huge and the staff are very friendly.

I came in to have the sides and back of my head shaved very short, VERY short, and the long hair from the top of my head merely straightened out a bit. This is my normal haircut and it usually would take more places about 15 minutes to accomplish. I didn't realize though that this salon only uses scissors for hair, no electric razors(except for my neck line).

I felt so bad that the poor girl had to sit and hand clip most of my head for 45 minutes, but she was completely courteous about it, I even think she enjoyed the challenge. She did a fantastic job making sure it was even all around, straight and clean. I will definitely go back here again, though I will still feel bad about have them hand clip nearly my whole head.

How are there NO reviews for Studio 890! This place has been the hot spot to get hair and makeup done since before I was in high school. It seemed like every school dance there was a race to get an appointment slot for an updo here before they got booked solid. They do some of the best updo's period. I finally got to be one of the "cool" kids.

For my childhood friend's wedding, we all (bridesmaids, sister-in-laws, mothers, etc) had our hair done at 890. The staff were really friendly and super cool. We brought in breakfast for the wedding party while we all got primped and pampered by their staff. My stylist was great. I brought in a photo of the hairstyle I was going for. She was really good about asking questions to get a better idea of exactly what I wanted.

She consulted with me along the way and showed me the progress so I could let her know if I was liking it. In the end, it came out looking awesome. The bride was even amazed.she wanted to know if that was all my hair. Do come prepared, if you don't know what you want your hair to look like you may end up with something you don't like. Do speak up if you don't like where things are going.the stylist will not be offended. And do be prepared to pay $$$, good hair doesn't come cheap. Note: They do more than hair. Nails, massages, skin care, etc.it's like a day spa.
