All of our UV tanning beds are made by Ergoline, which is the leading manufacturer in the industry. Ergoline beds have the most innovative UV technology that ensure the deepest, quickest tan with their effective designs. We offer a variety of beds, varying in maximum exposure time and bulb quantity and wattage.
Instead of waiting 4-6 hours, with a pre spray, perfector, your spray will develop within 2-4 hours and offers a PH balancer which helps get a more even tan. The post, moisturizer, option helps lock that color in for a long lasting tan. Versa Spa Pro provides a premium spray tanning experience with an open, warm, relaxing environment resulting in a beautiful tan.
We are the only salon in the area to offer a full body Red Light Therapy collagen producing treatment. Red Light Therapy works by the wavelengths of the lights strengthening your cell's mitochondria allowing for an increase of nutrients and energy. It can be used to treat joint stiffness, muscle aches and spasms, improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, improve collagen fibers, promote weight loss, reduce acne and much more.
You can however get that healthy glow with a Sunless Tan in our automated booth. Yes, you should always use an indoor tanning lotion. They provide the three essentials of effective tanning: hydration, nutrition and oxygenation. Without a lotion it can take up to 12 minutes to start producing melanin but with lotion that production starts within the first minute.

The front desk person was doing too much to push a sale for the lotions. I am aware you are able to get quality and authentic tanning lotions online for much cheaper. She did so much manipulative tactics to get me to purchase a tanning lotion. Already with that I don't feel like the salon is genuine. She said, they're fake online and "fake from china." Yes, that could exist but you don't need to say lies to be pushy.
There are so many authentic and quality lotions online. The business owner will most likely try to respond on the side of their employer seeing she respond to all the low ratings. Most people know you can get cheaper tanning lotions that's the same quality on Amazon/online. I hate places who are fake & manipulative when it comes to their sales and can't help their customers make sincere educated decision. Having those type of employees says a lot about the establishment also and their extreme mark ups. Also, for a newbie I would have liked to get some guidance but luckily I have a close friend who used to work at a tanning salon and therefore I am well aware of the manipulative used car salesmen tactics. I left there feeling so uncomfortable and it just makes the whole experience unpleasant.

Utopia has many options of tanning depending on what you're looking for. I did the spray tan the staff was great they walked me through how to do it they have two different results options immediately you can have clear or color the tan is the same but the color you see instantly when you leave fantastic. If you are going on a trip or to a wedding or a party I would highly recommend the spray tan they have multiple color options as far as intensity.
I do recommend doing a trial before your event to see if you would want to go darker. Looked very clean as well. But definitely go again I think even if I don't have an event feeling a little tan in the winter feels great.

I think my review didn't post due to technical error. If duplicate, sorry. This is the first negative review I have written for a business. Usually, I just don't bother. But, I don't want anyone else to get hurt. I am a "high net worth" individual who would have referred many friends and family if not for being treated like sh*t. Run far away from this business! Basically, I called to cancel my monthly billing plan by phone.
I confirmed with the employee working the front desk that it was cancelled. But, I kept getting billed. I didn't notice until it happened more than once due to being extremely busy at work. The new front desk employee said to come in and complete a written form even though the last one said I could cancel by phone. The second employee said that I would get a refund for the billing mistake. But, I kept getting billed.
I called again, but there was yet another new front desk employee. It seems this business has high turnover in staff. This employee claimed that the phone cancellation was not valid. Also, she told me my cancellion had to be in writing 30 days in advance! The manager refused to even listen to me tell her this. So, I am guessing she will try to say that this is not what happened. Anyhow, that is not what staff told me and a business needs to take responsibility for properly training its staff to communicate accurate information, regardless of what the fine print in any membership paperwork states. But, I did not even get a chance to tell the manager that because she wasn't interested in listening, just reciting "company policies." I had to dispute all bank transactions with Utopia, even the few legitimate ones, as fraud in order to even open a case with my bank.
I also had to cancel my debit card to stop the automatic billing. Now, my bank just told me that I may be sent to collections for one month after I cancelled my debit card. I don't know if that is true; just what my bank stated to me. I have never been treated so poorly. Shame on you. I am sure you will think of a clever response. There isn't enough positive and amazing things I cold say about utopia tanning and spa. The owner is incredibly sweet and helped me through the process. It was my first time getting spray tanned, the facility is clean, the room with the spray machine is spotless and they sanitize between each client. The monthly subscription for unlimited spray tans is so worth it! I'm hooked, I wish I could give them more stars. Will definitely be a life long customer with them. :

I am so happy I found Utopia! I love that they are open 7 days a week and they offer perfect hours for my schedule. Pricing for packages is comparable to other salons. The ladies that work the front desk are very friendly and keep me up to date on any upcoming deals. I have not needed to buy lotion, but it seems like they usually have a sale on those.
My only experience is with the stand up tanning bed (in the first room). It's awesome! I literally saw color after one tan. 9 min max. I will say the one negative about this salon (as other Yelpers have mentioned) is the fact that they don't take appointments. That is annoying if you are on a tight schedule. I've been fortunate enough to not have any issues with walking in and having the bed I wanted be available.

I was happy to find a tanning salon that was open since my home town is closed down do to COVID. However this salon didn't work out for me. The salon has good equipment I definitely enjoyed the bed and stand up. it's a cute place! But the staff have bad attitudes, they weren't helpful, very snobbish. I didn't feel comfortable. Would not return here.

After being a loyal customer for 6 years, I can no longer recommend this salon as a result of a recent experience I had there. I purchased a tanning package before the Covid virus hit in March of this year and had quarantined the last 7 months in Southern California. I relocated back to Bay Area the end of September after knowing that salons had opened up again.
I was told by the Assistant Manager who answered the phone that I had 6 sessions left and that they would expire on Oct 20. I asked if I could get an extension as I did not think I would be able to use them up that quickly as I have fair skin and just want a little color at a time. I was only able to get in only 3 tans before the manager contacted me to let me know the remaining sessions would not be extended despite the fact that I had no control over the virus.
I was really disappointed in the management's handling of this matter, particularly since I had been a customer for years and would continue to be had this not happened. I felt the manager should have honored the extension under the circumstances. I am aware that other salons honored extensions and some through December. Beware of buying any packages from this salon as you may not get to use them all.

Last minute Family pics happening in 3wks. I don't care too much for all my freckles and slight discoloration in some areas. What a beautiful shop! I love the set up. It's quit clean and with the COVID they were cleaning between customers. Mason, (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly) was Amazing! She was pleasant, professional, patient and very informative. I will be returning!

Seriously the best salon in the area. The staff are so friendly, the beds are AMAZING quality and it's always super clean! I used to work at a tanning salon a while back so I'm very nit-picky when it comes to cleanliness and how a bed operates. Blew me away how efficient the whole salon is! Great welcoming bag with the membership, tons of awesome accelerator lotions to pick from in the lobby, I even got the "California contour" which is a nifty mask you wear in the bed to give you a contoured look- how cool is that?!
They bring in new and fun ideas because they go to the trade shows and listen to their clients! I got an unlimited membership for a few months back in Jan before a vacation in March and was able to build a base the right way and keep a tan with maintenance. I no longer needed the full membership and they were very understanding to that, it was a non issue.
Will be back as soon as I'm craving a tan again. Can not recommend enough! Looks like they are doing appointments with the covid stuff happening and seems like they are doing above and beyond to make sure services are given to their members in a safe and efficient way! I have been coming to Utopia for years. I cannot say enough great things especially about all of the fabulous things that have taken place with the new ownership over the past 6 months or so. I get a weekly Mystic spray tan (but have also used all of the beds as well) which not many salons still have and I am asked all of the time where/how I am as tan as I am and not orange. The staff is super friendly, salon is so cute and clean. If you are looking for a great tanning experience, Utopia is it!

After moving away in 2012 I came back to San Ramon, happy to see Utopia was still around, though under new ownership. I checked out other salons in the area and Utopia was the clear winner. Super clean, friendly staff and honestly the best membership price for what you get. In addition, if you sign up for a membership they give you this cute goodie bag!
You can put your membership on hold, but cancellation requires two weeks WRITTEN notice to the salon. If you understand that going in, you're good. I'm sure they tell you that upfront but I didn't go through a new membership because they still had my info on file. I would highly recommend Utopia!

I went here today for my first ever air brush spray tan the woman that does the procedure was amazing, thorough, and made me feel comfortable and fabulous all at the same time. I had an uneven tan line already and she was able to blend it perfectly. Not only would I recommend this place but will use it again in the future!

I went in yesterday for the stand up, and met the loveliest young lady Her name is Kaitlyn and I think she said she was new to Utopia staff. There was only 30 mins left till the store closed but she said it's ok and so I quickly jumped in to the tanning machine. I wish young girls these days could be like her because she was just such a nice young lady.
It makes going to Utopia great when there are nice girls behind the desk I have to add (6 days after my post) Ally is AWESOME! What a great girl. I could talk to her for hours To the boss. you have great staff! I may have to buy another month of tanning!

Extremely Dirty. Expensive. & the staff is poorly trained. The last time I was here the girl was very inexperienced. She was eating chinese food so it smelled weird.also could not smile for some reason. She processed my card twice and when I called her on it she denied it and then called her manager. Manager cannot reimburse me til Monday after the card is already processed and wants me to leave my credit card info? The business owners are obviously Neglecting this place. It is run down and dirty.

Services offered are good, but it is so frustrating their policy. i have gone into tan on three occasions this month, and the bed wasn't being used. Someone had put their name down on the waiting list, but had not showed up to start their session. One time the person showed up 21 mins after the bed was available! My tan would have taken less than 10 mins. The policy should be to be on a waiting list, but if you are not present at the time the bed is available, then the next person present should get priority.
