Went as a hair model and it was an amazing time. My brother is doing so well and every one there is so nice. 10/10 would recommend.

Words cannot describe how amazing the first experience for me was; loved this location and the stylists so much that I referred my future mother-in-law! LOVED BOTH THE EXPERIENCES! $150 for highlights and cut- pending on the level of the stylist; this is not including tip. Before and after photos shown below! The appointment time was around three hours, and parking can be a hassle- so get there early! Traditional cut for someone like me (with long hair) was $75. Portia was my stylist and she was fantastic! Definitely recommend!

This is hands down the best salon that I have ever been to. Brandon cuts my hair with a talent and skill is beyond measure. I recently started seeing Abby in New Talent for my color. She is full of raw talent and eagerness. My creative color has never looked better. I only trust Nikole with my eye brows and makeup. I leave every time looking amazing!

I went in there today to see Moriah. Not only was the staff absolutely friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in but Moriah was an excellent hair stylist. I told her a couple things I wanted and she gave a couple of suggestions. This is probably one of the best haircuts I have ever gotten. I will definitely come back to get my haircut by her. Not only is she talented but super nice. I have never been to this salon before and because of her and other staff members I will definitely be back.

So Veronica is absolutely amazing and the best colorist in Atlanta but if she is busy and you get put with a random person there is a chance you will have a bad color job. I recently went in and for highlights and all he did was two blonde strips by my face that are super clunky. If I had paid for face framing that's fine, but for 250 I expected a little more. Moral of the story: if you find someone you like just wait until they are available bc it seems pretty hit or miss.

At this point I feel as though these people are paying for the 5 star reviews I came in 2016 and I payed 250+ can't really remember for like 5 teeny tiny blond strips of hair and I wanted something way different these people charge for time supposedly they're money hungry they don't care if you look good, all hip and "high end" for no apparent reason lol this isn't my first rodeo with them so this is my 2nd time here and I got up after the consult and canceled and walked out, you're not about to tell me that what I know is possible ISN'T lol! They try to manipulate you. Never again, cutting ties forever now

This is by far one of the BEST hair salons in Atlanta! Many of the stylists have been there 20 years or more! I've been seeing Rod Lawson here for my color and cut for the last few years. No matter where I move in the city, I still go to him. Thank you Rod for a beautiful cut and fabulous color!.and he is quick! No spending 2 hours plus in the salon! The salon is friendly and comfortable, and who can complain about a glass of wine while your color is sitting?

I LOVE Van Michaels (In buckhead!) They are all so sweet and welcoming! My colorist is amazing, no one tops her! (she is the kindest person ever) New talents is great too!

First, I want to say I love the stylist who cut my hair, Billy Jo. She was amazing and my cut is amazing. Only go to this salon to get a hair cut from Billy. If this review was only for Billy it would be 5 stars. Whatever you do, do not get color here. The stylist who colored my hair left me wanting. I did not like the set-up of this salon with one person doing the cut and another person doing the color.

I was a new client and they schedule my color with Maxwell. While I was trying to talk to her about what I wanted and explain my inspo pics she kept saying she got it and knew what to do. I had a bad experience at a previous salon and wanted to make sure she fully understood what I was looking for. She even told me I probably just had a bad experience was nervous.

And I should have been. The base color is fine, but the few highlights I can see look like harsh brassy orange streaks right at my forehead and are not visible anywhere else on my head. She also only did half the work and let her assistant do the rest. She did not even come check the color before having the assitant rinse and put a gloss on. I've never had a stylist not check my color before rinsing.

Once they started to dry the hair I was very apprehensive about it. The assistant grabbed Maxwell. She told me it was the lighting in the salon and it would fade nicely in a week or two. They even walked me outside to see it in different lighting. I just gave up at this point. They styled my hair and I paid for the service and left. If you want a personalized color and experience with a stylist who takes the time to listen to you and pay attention to what is happening with your hair do not go here.

They are set-up like an assembly line with multiple people doing different steps of the process. The cost of service vs what you get Is appalling. I'm now stuck with hair I honestly want to shave off my head because I hate it so much or pay a different salon another 250-300 to fix it.

Paid $240 w/o tip for a hair color that didn't resemble anything I explained to Maxwell. What a freaking rip off. Her license, if she has any should be yanked. Total rip off. Nice architecture etc but not what I care about. Beware rip off.

Why another mask mandate beginning 12/20/21? This is ridiculous! Most individuals in Georgia have been vaccinated, There is no evidence that mask protects against the Corona Virus Disease. All germs are not bad for our bodies we need them to protect our immune system. Your employees are tired of your mask mandates as well as your guest. It will soon be 2022 and unfortunately Covid is here to stay and apparently your mask are too!

Cathrine is the most amazing hair stylist. She truly takes the time to ensure my hair is always cut to perfection! I highly value how Cathrine studies the details of my hair and is never rushes through a haircut. Not to mention, she is so nice yet professional. The facility is extremely clean and well maintained. The chairs are comfy, the lighting is well maintained, and the hair washing room is truly a mini trip to the spa. I cannot recommend this salon enough! I refuse to get my haircut anywhere else!

Love this place! They make you feel like royalty. When I moved here from Los Angeles, I was more worried about finding a salon to do my extensions and highlights than a job or an apartment! Lucky for me, I did. And they use the entire Avesa line! Love this place.

I've been coming to Ruskin at Van Michael Buckhead for about two years now and he does such an amazing job every time! He is someone who really listens to what I am looking for each time I come in.he chopped off my hair to donate it at one visit and just cleaned up my layers and cut only half an inch at the next visit! Can't recommend him enough!

I love this salon! I cannot recommend VanMichael Midtown enough. Great atmosphere, quality service, friendly and welcoming staff, and extremely talented stylists/colorists. I see Walker for my cut and Graham for my color and every time, I've gotten a GREAT precision haircut and gorgeous color. I get compliments on my cut all the time. Walker is the best- she really takes her time and is the true definition of an "Artist". If you want an absolutely terrific hair cut and color- go see Walker and Graham- you will not be disappointed. I received exceptional service from Van Michael Salon, from the front desk support, to the manager helping to accommodate my unique situation (having just moved to Atlanta, needing fast help with extensions put in by another non-local Salon), to the extensions expert, Ginger. The salon itself is terrific - great vibe - and I absolutely adore Ginger and the excellent job she did with my extensions. Can't wait to go back!

I love getting my hair done here at this amazing salon! The staff is absolutely fantastic aside from colorist Armond Kenney. He was very rude to my mother, who had been his client for a few years. I am extremely disappointed in his behavior towards her because you are always supposed to leave a salon feeling fresh and pretty and he took that from her.

She is a well-paying client and she did not deserve his poor attitude. We will gladly go back to the salon in the future, but we will never again sit in his chair. Take my advice and trust someone from the salon's new talent. They are well trained, always friendly, and you will find your go-to stylist. A special shoutout to Harry who goes above and beyond for his clients to make them feel special!

I had my first cut with Bernard ( a legend in Atlanta hair cutting ) and it was by pure luck, as I walked in for a service. Something I do not often do. I am actually a hair stylist, and I AM VERY PICKY! Lori, the manager was amazing and helped me book an appointment along with a salon coordinator. I was very pleased and precooked my next appointment.

From making the appointment to the time you walk in you know you're in for a great hair day. Harry Wood has been doing my hair since he started in the business. He's the best there is. When I left Atlanta I literally let my hair grow out - it was to my waist. I was away for 19 years I missed the way Harry cut my hair. Eve has been doing my color since I moved back to Atlanta.

She is incredible! I feel so special when Eve & Harry are doing my hair. They discuss with each other and me what they're doing. Eve is genuinely interested in how your hair looks after the cut has been done. Her highlight placement is always perfect. The color, shades and tones are complimentary to your skin tone. I drastically change it up every time I go in.

You know you've got the best when you feel dazzling when you walk out. Also, I was reading through the reviews - I disagree with the few disparaging reviews regarding the customer service. The customer service is always consistently top notch from the staff when you first walk in, the assistants, the interns, etc throughout your experience all the way to when you're checking out. Great service!

3 stars because my past visits were amazing. But I no longer come to this location for my services because of the last time being so bad. I have to book two slots because of my hair being so thick, curly and long. My girl was 30-45 mins late. No communication from receptionists, or my stylist. No "Hey I'm sorry I'm running a little wait! I'll be with you shortly" just nothing.

After waiting for that long, I finally asked the receptionist what was going on and 5 mins later she finally got to me. From there on, everything was rushed. My shampoo lasted like 2 mins. I'm used to getting at least a minute or two of scalp massage. Cut was okay I guess. but the blow dry.? Not great. My hair was a frizz ball before I even stepped out of the door.

A few flyaways, sure fine. I can deal with that. But if it looks like my hair has been air dried when I step out of the salon, that's unacceptable. She never offered me any heat styling after my blow dry. My hair typically takes 2 hours when it's all said and done: shampoo, cut, blow dry, heat styling. My service was maaaaaybe an hour, if that. & with this hair, it's not really possible to do all of that in that time frame. Keep in mind, I usually book two slots solely for this reason. I get things happen and I'm fine with that. It's just the lack of communication from me.

Curly hair patrons search no more. First time haircut with Rob was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about curly hair. He listened to my challenges and vision for a manageable style. Truly a Master Stylist! Be sure and read the Mission Statement poster upon entry. The Van Michael commitment for excellence is clear from beginning to end. All staff I encountered were professional, friendly and efficient. I will definitely return.

Today was my first time visiting Van Michael and I am proud to say that I will surely be back! Upon arrival, I was greeted and offered a drink by nearly everyone. (Pro tip: walk into the far left side and not the Aveda side so you don't get confused.) Everyone was extremely patient and nice with my confusion and was so happy to walk me around the salon.

Inside is beautiful and very very clean. Rob, my awesome hair cutter, described the intense process everyone must go through to become staff either and a specialist in their area of expertise. This is clear through the care I observed him and other stylists putting into their areas and throughout the salon. As far as my cut goes, Rob was incredible!

He taught me so much about my hair and hair care in general. He worked really hard to make it a personalized experience that I benefitted from a lot. He made sure I had photos to see on the iPad before he did the cut on me and he explained everything snip he made. The whole experience was very relaxing and I completely trusted him with my hair and new do.

Because it was so personalized, he was realistic about my cut, to ensure I could still braid it or pull up into a pony tail, and taught me an easy way in a step-by-step manner to straighten my hair at home. He also gave me so many helpful tips, compliments :), and walked me through the hair coloring process that I'm interested in doing in the future.

His intern Pepper was also clearly knowledgable and passionate about hair care. She gave me a great wash and was fun to talk with. I was so impressed with their teamwork that clearly is part of the magic of Van Michael. Never once did I feel as if Pepper and Rob's attention was not on me and my hair. They made the experience entirely worth the 45-minute drive and I can't wait to come back again. Rob wrote out a notecard for my future visit. See y'all next year!

I just moved here from NYC and thought I would try this place out. I went to Portia and she is awful - I like my hair long w long layers and walked out with short choppy layers that were not blended in well AT ALL. I went back to my old salon when I lived here in Inman Park which is where I should have gone to in the beginning. Lindsey at Adore is great for color and Alexis fixed my cut - WE HAD TO CUT OFF THREE INCHES TO BLEND IN MY HAIR. That's how bad Portia's haircuts are. I've also visited Katharine at VM and so has my bf. We both think she is terrible.

I have finally found my go-to stylists at this salon! I have been a customer at Van Michel on and off for years. I have also had services done at Sandy Springs and Midtown locations due to lack of availability at Buckhead which is my preferred location. Its hit or miss to be honest and I look for consistency. Timeliness, professionalism and cleanliness make up a good salon experience for me.

I do still get annoyed that they have colorists and hair cut specialists instead of one person doing same job but alas, this is their model. It is pricey but again if it check the boxes, I am fine with it. Lastly, feedback I provide to those I have now landed on asking for every visit, it that they style my hair instead of punting me to their assistants. Assistants just don't do the styling justice the way a senior stylist does.

This last point is a stickler for me, personally. So here are my recommendations on who my preferences are at Buckhead: Hair cut: Murray Mariah Color: Ashley Eve Lydia Happy Salon-ing!

UPDATE: Ron Rock is no longer with Van Michael. I vow to scour the globe until I find him again. Van Michael is OK but Ron Rock was the colorist star.

I only have great things to say about this place! Service was great, receptionist was attentive, checkout easy. I am so so so so happy with my hair. I got color with Gabrielle and a cut with Rowen. Both were amazing. The pics don't lie.

I've been a fan of Van Michael's for many years. I used to frequently visit the The Forum location and went to Ava for haircuts. Sadly, Ava moved to Hawaii. I haven't dyed my hair since 2008. That's 8 years! During those 8 years, I've donated my hair 3 times. I wanted a subtle change. Nothing dramatic like how I used to have because I'm older and work in a professional environment.

I went for blue black. One of my friends works at Van Michael and dyes hair. She recommended me to take advantage of the students at Van Michael at the Buckhead salon. However, they were only available to do so on Monday's at 11 am, 3 pm, or 5 pm. I was cool with it. I mean, it's cheaper and I'm saving a lot. She got me in touch with Cade to dye my hair.

Through text messages for several weeks, I got an appointment that fit with my schedule. Everyone at Van Michael was sweet. Since they are students, you have to be patient with them, they are still learning. I just played on my phone so the wait wasn't that bad. After several hours, I was done. Cade did a great job with the color! I also loved the way he blowdried my hair out.

My hair looks so healthy and shiny. He was too sweet and gave me a hug. He even took a picture of my hair outside so I could see the blue black. He deserved more than 20% tip and I gave that to him. I plan to take my daughter to get her hair dyed there by Cade.
