L used to cut my hair here over ten years ago until I decided to go elsewhere. I decided to give it another try so I made an appointment online. The only person available for a curly hair cut was Mary, the owner. My appointment was at 1:00 and I was driving from Marietta. When I arrived I was greeted by Brenda, she used to be my stylist before. We said hi to each other and she went to tell Mary that I had arrived. Mary was finishing up with a client so a sat down in the lobby and waited. and waited and waited. Mary finally came and was taking her client's payment information but she continued having small talk right in front of me for about fifteen more minutes.
There was no acknowledgement of me being there, no comment like, "I'll be with you in a moment." nothing, is as if I wasn't even there. I decided to get up and interrupt their conversation. I told her I had another appointment, that it was almost 1:30 already, if she could finish with that client. She asked me if I could come back after my appointment.
Complete disregard for my time. She does have a very strict policy if you are late or don't show up. I just asked her to cancel my appointment and she just said she was sorry and continued chatting away with the other client. Very unprofessional specially coming from the owner. Definitely never going back, I don't know how this person can stay in business.

My sister did not want to leave a review, but I felt so bad for her, I just couldn't let this slide. She went to this salon 3 times for color and each time she left the establishment, she was disappointed and rightfully so because the color never matched what was wanted. Not even close. The 1st time she went to this salon, my sister asked for rose gold hair.
Not a super crazy color, she showed the lady a picture of basically light pink/mauve hair as a reference. Her stylist said okay without mention that she was not savvy with non natural hair colors (until after the fact). Ya'll. My little sister left with neon orange hair. I'd attach pictures of her hair, but then she'd know I wrote a review. The mark was completely missed.
At this point, I think the stylist asked her to come back again to correct it. The 2nd time she goes back, it's indeed to correct it. For fear of another neon fiasco, my sister asked for a dusty pink, nothing bright; just some toned down pink after a good bleach session. She was so optimistic. only to leave with dusty /brown/ hair. There was barely visible pink hues at the very end of her hair.
She was sad, realizing colors just wasn't her stylist's forte. The dusty brown was kind of cute, but still not what was asked for. Soon enough, it was so brassy. The 3rd time, I tried telling my sister don't go back to Ambrosia because you're going to leave disappointed with nothing at all like what you wanted. Unfortunately, she pushes back, saying "she [stylist] isn't that good with coloring, but I basically want an icy blonde.
Every licensed stylist knows how to bleach and tone hair." Aahh.lol. My sister sent another reference picture. The pic has a girl with very icy blonde/platinum hair. My sister's hair at this point was a level 8. Not once during the session did the stylist mention that she wouldn't be able to get her what she wanted, in fact she was met with optimism for making my sister's hair an icy blonde.
I don't know how this even happened but instead of an ash/icy blonde, she left with muddy brown hair. Like lake water color. It has ashy tones in it, sure. But my God did we miss the mark, again. It's not even blonde anymore and they bleached it twice when she went (last night)! It's a really weird brown color that the stylist basically said the white and ash tone will come through as my sister washes her hair. Okay, why couldn't she leave with what she wanted instead of having to wash this weird colored toner out several times?
The stylist, once my sis' hair was done and visibly showed she wasnt happy with it, then started mentioning that she wanted to protect the integrity of her hair and mentioned something about my sister having curly hair as to why this was a bit more difficult (she has 3C hair) and her curly haired clients rarely ask to go blonde or get color like what she wanted.
We could have mentioned this in the beginning, though. I guess she noticed her ends were getting frizzy. But what licensed professional doesn't at least offer to clip the ends of a client who's hair they've bleached, at this point, over 4 times?! Again, not once was she told that they couldn't take her from a level 8 to platinum and tone it ashy in 1 sitting, especially due to her hair texture.
In fact, they texted each other before this final meeting where the hair she had was shown to the stylist along with the reference pic and was met with a "perfect". So what happened? How did we get muddy semi-ash brown out of trying to get platinum ash? I'd like to mention when I saw her this morning, her curls still look great and coily, and what frizz was left over from the bleach has gone away after she did her curly hair routine.
I was at least told that the staff was friendly and nice and the stylist, equally so. My sister wouldn't tell me the name of said stylist, but you know who you are. She's in the shower as I type, desperately trying to get that muddy toner out. I am appalled that she was able to leave with such an odd color. But then again, she left once with bright orange hair.

Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Value I had a great experience! Brenda did a great job, I am very pleased with the service, she took her time to cut my hair and I had the best haircut ever. Very friendly and clean environment as well. Highly recommended! I made sure I book my next appointment before I left.

I've been going to this salon for over five years and have had absolutely fantastic hair cuts. I drive 30 minutes across Atlanta just to visit Mary who is the absolute best. When Mary is not available Christine cuts my hair and does an equally good job. I know several women that have been going there forever and referred me. I highly recommend this salon!

I have been to this location a few times before and I always get my curly cuts done by Christine, I feel like she knows me and my hair and does what's best for us haha. I will continue to come here until I can't anymore! The service never fails to amaze me, I was attempting to make an appointment yesterday and my calls and messages weren't going through.
I work all day everyday except for the weekends so there are only specific times I have time for a haircut. I decided to message the store on Facebook to see if I could get through to anyone, and after the shop had closed and this employee reached out to me ON HER OWN TIME, OFF THE CLOCK! And got me all set up for my appointment next month, she answered all of my questions and was very polite and well informed. It was so nice to have someone help me out like that when they really didn't have to. You rock Lauren! Thank you so much for all of your help!

I have been getting my hair cut here for years by Brenda. The salon staff is amazing and I feel like part of the family every time I go in. I've always left feeling and looking amazing. This place is special. I now live practically an hour away, but I still come to Ambrosia Salon because the service is exceptional. Highly recommend.

I would like to preface this by saying I never leave reviews- especially negative ones. I was raised not to say anything if I didn't have something nice to say. But I have something I need to say. I am from Miami and have no contacts here to ask for referrals. I found the salon through a yelp/google search, and this salon was a 10 min drive and also had good reviews so I figured I'd give them a call.
I spoke to the receptionist and explained my hesitancy and blindly choosing a hairstylist, because I've had such bad experiences with haircuts in this city. She assured me Rachel was great with cuts and that I wouldn't be disappointed. I even asked for her personal instagram, so I could do some research of my own. She said she was busy at the moment and if I could wait a bit she would let me know what it was.
But with a 24 hour cancellation policy and the fact that my hair hadn't been cut in months, I told her not to worry, and that if she assured me the stylist was very skilled that I would be there. I paid $95 for THE worst haircut I have EVER gotten. Ladies, I am not exaggerating. All I asked was for a slight trim, because I was growing my hair out.
I walked out with half my head looking semi-choppy and uneven, and the other half of my head looking like a straight mullet- half bob, half shoulder length. I literally have no idea how this could have happened. I was VERY clear about what I was looking for- the whole way through, from receptionist to stylist. I called back to explain how unhappy I was and they assured me they had no problem fixing it, and that this is fairly common. Disheartened and very upset, I went back to the same girl who gave me the initial cut and she said she would "blend and even it out." While she did do this, it didn't fix my hair.
There wasn't anything she could do to re-grow my hair. And as I was leaving, she blamed the choppiness on my PREVIOUS haircut?! One I lived in for 4 months and LOVED, and that costed $125 from my longtime hairdresser in Miami- so it definitely wasn't that one. The shifting of blame seriously irritated me. It was the icing I didn't need on this entire experience. Now, after trying to grow my hair out for a year, I am forced to go to a high-end salon and pay another couple hundred for them to fix this mess, just a few weeks later, by starting from scratch.
Back to the freaking bob I didn't want anymore. After visiting Miami last week, and showing my family this awful cut I am STILL bitter about, I got confirmation it's the worst cut they have ever seen as well. My sister actually said the sentence, "you paid her to do that to you?" Um yes, and I wish I hadn't. I write this review almost two months after my haircut.
I tried to live with it, but it is truly the worst haircut I've ever gotten. Every single day that passes and I have to style my hair, I get angrier that I didn't just ask for my money back. I will definitely not be back. And I would advise doing your own research before you trust them with your hair.

I have dry, frizzy, curly hair that doesn't grow past my shoulders. My whole life has been a struggle finding the right stylist, but Tori at Ambrosia is AMAZING. Seriously the best, most thorough curly cut I've ever gotten. She is so great to talk to and she is very detail oriented with hair, which curlies know is very important! I've never left her chair less than excited about my new cut and color.

The salon is so cute and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. Tori has been cutting, coloring, and styling my thick, curly hair for almost a year now, and I haven't once considered going anywhere else! I know all of the stylists are trained for curly hair but my only experience is with Tori and I recommend her 1000000%! The salon has a great selection of hair product as well!

Really really happy with my experience with Brenda at Ambrosia. I have fine, curly hair and feel like I can never find someone to give me a cut that actually works for my hair (and my low interest in taking the time to style it). She did a dry cut and was very meticulous. she took a lot of time making sure it was perfect, then walked me through exactly how to style it, wrote it all down for me, and loaded me up on samples. definitely going to buy their products, really like them! very impressed, very happy!

It's hard to have dark skin and go blonde, but my stylist was a miracle worker. I don't look "crazy", it just looks softly edgy. Love it. You know they are great when you tell them, do whatever you want. He took his time and made sure every strand was colored at is should be with subtle down and lowlights. I get compliments all the time.
I kind f don't want to do this review, because what if I can't get my appointment because they're so busy making everyone look their absolute best! Everyone at the salon is very nice and respectful not just to the customers, but to each other. They offer you drinks, it smells heavenly, and the lighting is great up front, so after your service, do take a second to take a selfie.

I went to get my make-up done. The make-up artist didn't follow the picture and for the price, I expected a little more contouring and precision with color. She definitely needs more training with working on darker skin. However, she deserves the award for lashes. I highly recommend her for the application of eye lashes. The way she applies them is nothing like anything else.
To that end, she uses high quality products and her lashes are impeccable. After 1 week, my lashes were still in place! Talk about flawless. I can't give her props on the make-up, but thus far, I think she's the best in Atlanta for eye lashes. This is a very warm and welcoming place. Everyone is really nice. Nicole is their receptionist and she makes you feel like a million bucks.
I got a chance to see some of their work with hair and I hope they branch out and try their skills on ethnic hair. Their cuts, color and styles are beautiful. They colored my husband's hair and he loved it! You don't see the diversity of clientale here but once they tap into that market, I'm pretty sure this will be the salon of choice in Atlanta!

Lauren took my hair from Brassy to Classy! LOVE IT! When moving from England to Atlanta - one of my main concerns was finding a new hairdresser. I love my hair and I am petrified of anyone ruining it. I left my colour as long as I physically could, my roots were so bad I couldn't cope anymore. After asking around and hearing lots of good things about Lauren Crossman at Ambrosia, I decided to book in.
From the second I walked in I was greeted by the lovely Nicole who could not do enough for me. As I walked through the salon, all the stylists were smiling, welcoming and there was a nice, friendly atmosphere. I also noticed that everyone had GREAT hair.which put me at ease about my own! When I met Lauren I immediately apologised for how long I had let my roots grow, I was so embarrassed. Lauren reassured me and made a plan.
At every point she made sure that I knew what was going on, talking me through what was happening and gave me advice on what would suit me. I am very picky so I ask a lot of questions- each one was answered with careful consideration and confidence. When my colour was finished, Lauren gave me a blow dry. I am never happy with salon blow drys.but this time I loved it and I absolutely loved my colour!
What I must say is that Lauren is an absolute perfectionist, my colour has never looked so natural- yet vibrant. My blow dry lasted 4 days which is unheard of as I have horses and I am constantly outside riding. Thank you Lauren and to the rest of the team at Ambrosia. I will definitely be coming back. I have also posted a photo of my hair to this page.

I came here based on a recommendation from someone. I have curly hair and their website calls the stylists "curly hair gurus." Nicole at the front desk is amazing. She and the davines products are the reasons for the stars. My stylist was working on two other clients as she cut my hair. One left towards the beginning of my appointment, the other after me.
I showed her a picture of what I wanted, I talked about how I love the length of my hair and only wanted to take about an inch off, and we talked. Maybe she was distracted but she basically completely ignored what I said about length and nearly 4 inches of my hair was cut off the back. I hate having short hair. It's just not me - and it's neither the style I showed her nor the one I asked for.
I didn't ask her to "even up the front and back." I asked for layers. After they used Deva curl products on my hair, we all kind of stared at my hair wondering why it looked kind of dumb. It was pretty bad when you know the stylist is questioning why it looks so weird. They tried to add more volume at the top but because it was so short I was supremely unhappy. Also, she asked me several times if my hair was curlier underneath and I said yes.
Why would you cut those bottom layers shorter then? My hair looks so dumb, but mostly I hate the way I FEEL with my haircut. It's super curly underneath and more wavy on the top. It looks like a clown wig. Then I was charged $125 for a cut I loathe. I could barely sign the credit card receipt I just wanted to get out of there. I don't really know what to do because it's not like I can get my hair length back. It's not a bad dye job that they can fix. It's inches of my hair just gone - instructions completely ignored.
I wish I had a better experience but I didn't. Still crying a day later. Maybe for other services they'll work for you. It took years to grow out my hair, man. Oh well.

I love Ambrosia Salon. From the minute you walk in the front door everyone makes you feel so special. Mary cuts my hair and Susan does my color. They take time to listen and ask lots of questions. They make a point of then advising me of all my options. I trust them unconditionally with my hair and color. Today I just go with their recommendations because their ideas are so much better than mine. I have compliments on my hair all the time. It is so easy to style and go! A happy client forever.

MUST READ The good reviews are about a stylist that is no longer there. This can save you money, hair, and sanity. I am in total disbelief of the unprofessionalism at this salon. I purchased a very expensive hair unit from a company in Atlanta whom recommended Lauren at the salon to color the hair piece. Before the coloring process begin I contacted Lauren to discuss the color. Lauren would not answer my questions regarding the color she replied to me that" I was killing her".
I wanted to get answers to my questions and concerns regarding the color prior to beginning to make sure we were both on the same page regarding the color job. Several hours after Lauren told me I was killing her and she never answered my questions or concerns she told me the hair piece was done and I could come pick it up. When I arrived the hair color was nothing like the color I asked for.
The color went from a brassy orange color to a grey muted ash color. I spoke with Mary (one of the owners of the salon and also Lauren mother). Initially Mary try to find every way possible to avoid being responsible for the disaster color job. After running out of options to avoid the responsibility she finally agreed that it was their fault and Lauren should have told me she could not do the job correctly upfront but they would fix it.
She said they would test a portion of the hair to see if it would take bleach to correct the bad color job. Several stylist at the salon jumped in to rectify the problem. I was asked to leave and return in a hour. When I returned the color was beautiful and I was definitely satisfied. I asked Lauren how do I take care of the hair at home. She reply to me, "Do not put shampoo on the hair at home, take it to a salon to be shampooed.
You can put conditioner on the hair at home rinse it and let it air dry but do not shampoo it at home". I wore the unit for 2 days took it off to condition it and store it away for my next use. I wet the hair put conditioner on it allow the conditioner to sit on the hair for 15 minutes and then rinsed the conditioner out. The hair matted and turned into the biggest disaster I've ever seen.
The hair shedded out of the hair piece. My several hundred dollar investment was ruined. I contacted Lauren at the salon and sent her pictures of the damaged hair piece. I told her I wet the hair and put conditioner on it for 15 minutes and rinsed it out. She replied to me saying I needed to contact the salon and speak with the receptionists if I had any questions.
I contacted the owner of the company I purchased the hair from to inform her of the disaster. She in turn contacted Lauren at the salon to determine what process was actually done to the hair. Lauren told her that she made me aware that this was going to happen and I told her I didn't care and to still do the color. Really! After spending hundreds of dollar on hair I told you it's ok to damage it? That's crazy!
I was informed by that supplied that the hair was over processed and that was the cause of the disaster. The hair supplier contacted the owner of the salon Mary four days later after she returned from being out of town. She told Mary the situation and told her it was only fair that they covered the cost of my replacement unit since they over processed the hair. Mary told her she was not going to cover the cost to replace it and she think I was just trying to get a free hair piece! Mary stated that the supplier should have never recommended Lauren for the color job.
She should have recommended herself or one of the other stylist Susan. Mary also told the hair supplier that the color was not right when I initially saw the hair upon arrival because the brown color they placed on the hair initially faded into the orange brassy color to much (reason for my grey ash colored hair when I initially arrived). The salon never told me (the customer) this. Lauren whom is in the background during the phone conversation with Mary and the hair supplier told Mary I texted her and told her I put a color rinse on the hair once I got home because I didn't like the color! (Now they are back at trying to avoid being responsible).
In the text I sent to Lauren the only thing I mentioned about rinse was that I put the conditioner on the hair let it sit for 15 minutes and then I rinsed the conditioner out. Mary told the hair supplier that she was wasting her time on this beautiful Saturday and she did not have time to deal with this sh*t (some professionalism right). I am stuck with a totally damaged over processed hair unit due to lack of communication and inexperience of the salon.
Most unprofessional business I've yet to encounter. Please stay away from this salon. Atlanta has much better to offers. I hope this review saves someone from the disaster I experienced. I called to speak with the owner Mary and she refused to speak with me and also threatened to call the cops if I came to the salon for a conference to settle this.

I wrote this review in March when I was first at Ambrosia but just saw that it had not been posted. SO, I'm trying again because this is an amazing place! What an amazing place! Nicole, at the front desk, is the most kind, friendly person on the planet! She takes wonderful care of clients and makes sure that you are comfortable, enjoying your time at Ambrosia and trying products!
She is a true gem and she clearly enjoys her job. I am grateful that she connected me with Brandon - I got a wonderful haircut and am actually having good luck drying it close to the way he did! : He is very friendly and talented. Anyone is lucky to go to Ambrosia.

Why update when I'm still giving the salon 5 stars? Well, you see the first 5 stars were rightfully earned. This second 5 stars? WAY AWESOMER! My former stylist, Will, left a while ago and I now see Brandon. I really enjoy the work he does with my hair. I'm not a talkative client; I enjoy that he makes me feel comfortable with being able to sit in silence and doesn't appear to mind. He's down-to-earth, friendly, and most importantly, a talented stylist.
He also knows I have the patience of toddler and works fast! He can tell if I don't like something and will graciously takes action to correct it. I feel like my money is well spent here and I don't get sticker shock when it's time to pay. Cleanliness: This place maintained like no other salon I've seen. Everyone helps out.if stylists are in-between clients or it's the other staff stepping in, this place is clean. like OCD clean!
Love it! Customer Service: I appreciate the communication they give. I get calls and texts messages as reminders. I'm not a planner and my hair appts are usually scheduled when I'm in dire need. They do a great job of trying to work something out to get me an appt within the following day or two. On my last visit I called on a Thursday and booked for a Sat.
I was then called early Friday when a client canceled her appt later that day (Friday). They didn't have to fit me in sooner but it's that kind of thoughtfulness that makes me love this place. When I walk in and at various times throughout my appt I'm always asked if I'd like a drink or need a magazine. All the employees and fellow clientele are so personable!
I genuinely feel like the stylists love their jobs and enjoy being at work; it's reflected in the positive atmosphere. Can't say it enough, I really love this place! I love the products they have stocked and available to take home, most of which are local/hand made. The music is never loud and any side conversations are humorous and appropriate for the setting.
There is a small lot and street parking available. In the time I've been going I've never had an issue finding a spot. You all should give this place a try if you're in search of a new salon. Oh, and have I mentioned this place is AWESOME!?

This salon saved me from going out of town looking like a mad woman. I was first skeptical about booking my appointment because I wasn't sure this salon did natural hair. After reading some of the reviews I decided to go for it and make an appointment with Brandon. I scheduled for a color correction because my previous stylist did a red color on my hair that rinsed out after the first wash, and resulted in red, blond, and black blotches all over my head.basically terrible, and Brandon was my only hope to not leave town looking that way.
The salon is very nice, very nice staff (VERY IMPORTANT IN MY BOOK!). Brandon called me back, and consulted with me about what to do with my hair. He lifted and recolored it all under 2 hours (ANOTHER SURPRISE). I am in love with my new color, as is everyone else. The only downside is that the salon is rather pricey, but I will still be booking my appointments to come back and keep my color on top! :)

All I can say is: WOW! Some places make you feel good, some places make you feel great, but few places can make you feel at home and great! This place is the real deal. Everyone has their own house of horrors story about a haircut. I have had such bad cuts that I just quit having my hair cut. This was the first time in two years. They care, they know current trends, and they definitely know hair. I wish that I would have come here a long time ago, but I am happy that I found them now. My stylist was Brenda, and I look forward to my next hair cut with her!

I had Suzanna cut my hair and she did a magnificent job. It was one of if not THE best hair cut I've ever got and I am pretty picky about my hair. I have long wavy hair and I wanted something with lots of choppy layer and bangs. Suzanna understood exactly what I wanted(hairdressers never do) and and she spent a lot of time fussing with it to make it just right. One of the few places I've gone where they really understand how to do curly/wavy hairdoes. This place is great and I am definitely going back:D

I moved to Atlanta recently and have been anxious about finding a stylist that I can trust to help me achieve the perfect degree of blond in addition to giving me a cut that is stylish but low maintenance. I purchased a Living Social deal for Ambrosia Salon to try it out, and I have nothing but good things to say. HL was my stylist, and he did a fabulous job.
I am SO happy with how my hair turned out. His focus and attention were very clearly on making sure I had the best experience possible. We ran into an issue, which is bound to happen in the world of hair coloring, where the color already on my hair interacted in an odd way with the low lights we were trying out, resulting in various shades of pink.
This could have been a HUGE disaster, had HL not gone through strand tests in advance. In my corporate life this is what we call excellent attention to detail and risk mitigation. Other stylists offered advice and we eventually landed on the right color combo, but at that point in the evening we decided to forgo with the low lights and just do a touch up color and a cut.
I have a follow up appointment to add in the low lights in a few weeks, and HL offered to teach me how to use velcro rollers during that session, which I am sure will revolutionize my personal style :) I also picked out a Jenn Anniston cut from a magazine for the cut, and he did a fantastic job of matching it. Throughout the (couple hour) testing process, HL asked several times if he could get me anything and how I was doing, and he obviously performs well under pressure. Overall, great salon, great stylists and I know where I'll be going to get my hair done from now on!
