Salon U

I could not recommend Salon U more strongly! I chose this place based on the reviews and thought "that can't actually *all* be true, can it?" but, it absolutely is! My stylist (Carey) was truly talented and knew exactly what my hair needed and also what my curtain bangs needed. He was also wonderful about understanding my intentions and being mindful of what I did and didn't want, and did a beautiful blowout as well which can be challenging on my hair type (dense and wavy) and has come out frizzy or damaged before at far more expensive places.

I also found Salon U really fairly priced and welcoming as a place. Don't hesitate at all in coming here (unless too many of you come here and it starts getting hard for me to make my next appointment in which case, back off my hair-itory please)!

Everyone was so nice there + Carey did an AMAZING job on my hair. this is definitely my new hair salon, highly recommend!

I first came to Salon U as a model for one of the girls in their training program. I have been coming back ever since. They are very safe with covid and are conducting temperature checks and sanitation for all guests. Prior to covid, guests were offered a beverage, but not anymore.

Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Value I've had the pleasure of seeing Duschan the past several years and he is beyond amazing. The salon is contemporary and well managed. Accommodating staff and the latest and greatest products.

WOW WOW WOW! I have been going to the same hair stylist since I was in seventh grade (whom I adore and always does an amazing job) but I wasn't able to get in with her due to a death in her family. So after too much time spent going through yelp reviews of salon after salon I narrowed down my search. The main reason I chose Salon U was because of the warm, welcoming first phone call.

I simply asked for a general price point and they were so sweet and helpful especially compared to the other places I called where half the time I couldn't even get ahold of someone. So yesterday I went and saw Hannah. We instantly connected and she was an amazing listener and never made me feel dumb or like I wasn't an important client.

She asked me tons of questions regarding what I wanted done and she always walked me through the steps she was taking while teaching me things I didn't know. It was above and beyond service! For the first time in my life I have my dream hair! Yay! Thanks Hanna and Salon U! I'll be seeing you again!

Got a men's cut and coloring with Carl and was very happy with the outcome. He's a great stylist. Reception was courteous as well. Price is totally fair.

I just wanted to say that both hair dressers did a great job. I called the hotel I was staying at and they said there was a salon nearby so I looked it up and emailed them. 9 of us were coming to Chicago for a wedding and we needed our hair and make up done. Selma was the one I spoke to with emails back and fourth and they did a great job with everyone's hair and makeup and for a great price we were all very very happy with the service. Thank You so very much you ladies did a great job. We will recommend this salon to anyone who needs hair style or make up or updo s done. Great ladies.

I've been going Salon for about 4 years now. He truly understands curly hair inside and out! I've had nightmare cuts in the past and had to live with months of trying to grow out bad 'dos. NEVER AGAIN! I will NEVER EVER have anyone cut my hair but Fritz.he is a curly hair GOD! If you're a curly top like me and are dying to find the perfect stylist who truly understands our hair, Fritz is a MUST!.

The place is very nice and they have good atte tion. However, it didn't go wekl for me. First I wanted a balayage so I scheduled my app for that and they made me babylights, atvthe first time it was is not to bad to chand a little bit. I went 8 days ago and since that time I only wash my hair once and looks onrange and this was the first thing I asked not to happend.

I don't even want to go and claim that they fix this. Now I have to wait for a while with this orange hair and pay again in another place to fix it. I mean this was my experience, wouldn't back!

Was looking for a salon to do my birthday make over. Found this salon on yelp with great reviews. Called in and made an appointment for a consultation. Met hannah and she was very friendly and took the time to walk me through what she was going to do to my hair. Few days later i returned to get my hair done and she definitely didnt disappoint! I loved it! My hair came out beautiful and all the staff were very nice and accommodating. Definitely will return.

Kailey is an ANGEL and is amazing at what she does. I have tricky hair - super long, thick and light - and our first try at balayage didn't stick. Instead of pretending that the results were great, Kailey rearranged her afternoon and redid my entire head. I was in awe of her kindness and accommodation. The second time around the results were perfect. Thank you again!

Found this spot on Yelp and the reviews were so accurate. After a few years trying out an ombre fade, I decided to go back full blonde. I'm also growing out my hair and it was in the awkward "middle" stage. DuShawn fixed everything, both cut and color. I love it and he will absolutely be my go-to stylist going forward. I also loved the staff and friendly vibe in the salon, and prices are really reasonable for the level of quality of the service. And Kingston Mines is right around the corner so my boyfriend has something fun to do while he waits! Thank you guys!

Very accommodating for my availability and needs. I haven't dyed my hair in years due to poor hair stylists prior but I'm so glad I found Ericka. She was able to lift my dark hair to the blonde balayage I dreamed of (in a healthy way!)

I've been here twice for a haircut and balayage color, and stylist Hannah did an amazing job both times! My hair isn't easy to manage to begin with, so I was thrilled to get exactly what I asked for with results far better than I would've expected possible

Very dissatisfactory service! My scalp still burns a little (10 days after the service!). I got a red spot on the top of my scalp during the coloring process, which I showed to my stylist (Drew), and he applied some cream on it. I went there for a color, and my grey was still showing when I left the salon! I am wondering what brand is the hair color the salon uses, and how safe is it for its clients!

Hannah is amazing! I've gone to her twice and the last time I wanted something drastic and new. I decided to get a pixie cut for the first time. I've had short hair for a while and she said that she loves cutting short hair which was super reassuring. She was just as excited as I was to get a pixie and was so supportive. I needed a new stylist after my old one moved away and I'm so happy I found one in Hannah!

Since moving to Chicago in August, I have been on the HUNT for a salon to get my hair cared for. Not just a take a number, have a seat, get a cut and go - girl, my hair isn't deli meat. After one failed attempt at a "chain" salon, which unfortunately has great reviews on Yelp. I should have gone with my gut and steered clear. Let's just say I'll never get that time or money back. Thankfully, my hair grew back. Then, saw a friend who got her hair cut at Salon U, by Hannah.

I was so impressed with the quality of the cut, I called that week and was so lucky to get an appointment for that Saturday. Hannah is so genuine and friendly. Not to mention her superwoman scalp massage, scissor, and blow dry skills. We had a great consultation and discussed what results I was looking to achieve with my cut, and eventual color goals, and Hannah was able to deliver on everything we discussed!

She is just fabulous! The salon itself is great! They have a small but lovely waiting area and offer mimosas, champagne, beer, wine. and water. I love how they have the hair driers hanging from the ceiling! They also offer an incentive package to entice you to come back, (I would be coming back anyway), but it is definitely a nice perk! Street parking is available and its super cheap (especially mid-morning on Saturdays). I'm excited and relieved that I found my go to hair Salon and Hannah! I'm already excited for my next appointment!

I originally started going to Salon U to follow a stylist who I'd been seeing for years. When he told me he was leaving the city, he recommended another stylist at the salon, Crystal, who I've now been going to see for 3 years, for everything from event styling to a regular haircut. I cannot recommend her to you enough. Not only is she an absolute sweetheart, but she truly listens to what I'm looking for, and finds ways to make it even better than what I was thinking.

This is no small thing for me. I've got thick, frizzy, wavy hair ( a common refrain from previous stylists is, "wow you have a lot of hair!") which when not dealt with right, leaves me looking an electrocuted poodle. I've had stylists in the past who make me feel like taking care of my hair is a burden, but Crystal always make me feel like it's thickness makes it more fun to style!

Yesterday I came in to get balayage and a more cropped cut done, and Crystal was almost more excited about it then me, which made it all the more fun! After seeing the finished product, I can definitively say she is an artist with a dye brush and a curling iron. I have never ever been happier with a haircut and I absolute love the color. It's pinterest worthy!

The salon itself is also always lovely to be in. Clean, bright, and filled with attentive friendly staff, an absolutely great place to be. I can't imagine going anywhere else.

I have been going to Duschan for for my blonde color and my extensions. I'm naturally dark hairs Hispanic. He got me to a cool blonde with zero brassiness without damaging my hair! He also does my extensions and my hair looks flawless every time. The staff is professional And welcoming. The salon is clean and sells the best products including Oribe which changed my life after using it.

Prior to Duschan I tried several other expensive trendy salons in chicago and paid hundreds for highlights and base color and got reddish roots and color would turn brassy. If you want true blonde salon U is the best in the city! They use the best products. Pics attached: of course I'm the blonde

I have been coming to Salon U for over a couple years. I was badly sick today and called to reschedule my appointment and was told they wanted to charge me to reschedule. After thinking about it I have no idea why I returned to this place because there is nothing unique or special about them and the cuts are just ok at best. Additionally, the conversations and politics at this establishment are not professional.

The hair cuts can be rushed and lack consistency. I've gotten color on my face before a few times that they have not removed. I feel like these guys don't care a lot about there customers and are just about money. Also I heard that many reviews came from friends and family hence the overwhelming support on yelp. Overrated, much better establishments out there, don't waste your time much better options all over.

I've been going to Salon U exclusively since 2007 when I used to live right next door, now I travel a few miles to continue to go there. I've had 3 stylists in my time there, Shirley, Julie and now Jacqueline and each one is better than the last. Michelle has been there setting up all my appointments for as long as I can remember and is always a friendly face when you show up. It may be a few dollars more than some other places but they actually spend a lot more time with you and I've never had any less than a great cut.

Okay. I walked in not knowing what to expect, because I had not been to a salon of any kind for a while. Personally, I think I was very thorough with my search for a GOOD salon-not too far away, within price range, and experienced stylists. I found a GREAT salon. Everyone was fantastic, accommodating, and highly respectable. Hannah was my incredible stylist, and she gave me recommendations to give me a style that fit my face and personality.

She even gave me tips on how to style it at home! My hair + their knowledge = good look. As I was donating to Locks of Love, the cut was half off, but it is definitely worth the full price. Trust me. I actually loooooove my new, super short hair (compared to what I had before). Might I add: free drinks, relaxation, good company, and HAIR HAPPINESS, will come out of any visit here.

Best salon in Chicago! Duschaun is amazing, simply THE BEST at color and style. I love this salon. Kaylie does amazing "occasion" hair so if you want something fun for a night out on the town ~ book now! From champagne when you sit down to mints when you leave everything is top notch at Salon U.
