I'm giving this place an updated review. The service is still excellent. I always love my haircuts. Credit to Laura. Thank you! You always do an amazing job on my hair and it always comes out somehow the way I want it to which is funny because half the time I just make stuff up before I come in as a thought that I want and Laura always makes it happen. She's been doing my hair since I was little and I won't know what to do when she has to retire.
I can't imagine going to anyone else. Anyway, this is general suggestion not complaint. Support for Apple and Google Pay would be greatly appreciated! That's the only suggestion that I have. You still get five stars despite that minor set back. Thank you!

Jessica F. is a great hair stylist, and colorist. As soon as I sit down, Jessica will ask me how I'm dong, and what have I've been up to since my last visit. Every time I go there, ( I've been a client since 2002) I am always made to feel welcomed from the second I walk in the door. Everyone in the Salon is very professional. And when I leave, I look like a Million bucks!

The worst! I only gave it 1 star because there isn't an option for zero! Don't give your money to this salon! "Stick to your own kind, Maria!" I decided to try this salon because it was in my town and easy to get to. I also saw it had a rating of 4 out of 5. The website specifically stated there was a hairstylist who specializes in cutting and styling curly hair.
That is a LIE! First off, the "curly hair specialist", Stephanie, addressed a mother daughter duo, who seemed to be her regular clients and apparently had the same appointment time as myself and my daughter, and acted as if she didn't know why I was booked instead of them. She didn't seem happy about it. Secondly, she came over to me and didn't introduce herself, and basically said "What do you want done?" RUDE!
As I proceeded to tell her that I wanted a cut and style but a curly style, she said "Yeah, because I don't know what I would do with that, with the rain!" If you are a real stylist, I would expect YOU to know EXACTLY what to do with curly hair, even if I wanted a straight blow out, on a rainy day, which my daughter did get, who also has very curly hair. SO THE "SPECIALIST" dried my hair with a diffuser, after cutting it in supposedly long layers, and then applied product., to dried hair.which was now frizz!
Even after I told her that is not how curly hair is usually styled, she proceeded to only add a few drops of water to my hair and continue to add the wrong product to my hair. I believe she is racist against women of color, and was also upset that her regular clients had to be pushed back, causing Stephanie to leave later than she wanted to. It was not my fault she was double booked!
Either way, she should have had more class, and needs sensitivity training and hairstyling classes. This is not the first time I have encountered racism in New Windsor and it wont be the last, but I am an educated Hispanic woman who will use every channel to report people and businesses like Overtones Salon. I do not recommend this salon! Worst experience ever!

This place is nothing but the best. I have been going here for my whole life and have loved all my haircuts. The staff is extremely friendly and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good haircut. Please do not look any further if you need a good haircut. I personally have almost always dealt with Laura and she makes good conversation when cutting my hair. She try to crack a joke or two while I'm there.
