My last two experiences at Strawberry blonde were so terrible. Both times due to extremely inexperienced stylists. Last time Courtney spent 5 hours giving me a partial highlight. Yes. 5 hours. Took me back and forth to shampoo and then would add more toner in the chair and bring me back to wash again? It was ridiculous. And she completely botched my haircut.

This time I don't even know who my stylist was because my appointment was changed twice on me. Not only that - then they stuck me with a trainee to finish who had NO idea what she was doing. Sweet girl but it felt like she had never even practiced on a doll before. I'm okay with not being completely satisfied and I'm usually very easy going but both times I left in tears and I couldn't believe nobody said anything.

Nobody offered to fix what was obviously the worst curl job I've ever seen. Or offer to compensate in any way. My problem here is the clear lack of supervision and proper teaching. If someone messes up it's fine - but both times nobody else noticed or said a word. $183 to have my hair pulled out and yanked at and burned by hairdryers for three hours.

It was so painful. Getting your hair done for me is a huge treat and I took the day off work for it because it's impossible to get a weekend appointment. Disappointed is a huge understatement. I'm mortified and won't ever come back. Note~ I gave two stars because my coloring did come out pretty well this time. Then I was passed onto the person in training and it all went downhill from there.

My stylist was very friendly and seemed like she knew what she was doing. i told her exactly what i wanted, that i wanted to go way blonder, and have prominent money pieces. i didn't get either of those things. my hair looks darker than it did when i went in and i spent 4 hours there. spent $200 that was not worth it at all. very disappointed and now i have a head of hair that i need to go get redone and spend another $200.

I went to Strawberry Blonde for the first time, trying to find the salon in West Ashley after I moved. I went in for a haircut and layering. I had 2-3 images as references. The first try wasn't what I was hoping. It felt like I was just getting a simple haircut with minimum layering. We tried to fix before I left. I communicated that I would like the bottom half of my hair to have less volume so that it gives the top part of my hair more volume.

But I was told that it wouldn't look good. Well, what I was trying to tell my hair lady was basically something I had for years. However, everyone was nice and wonderful to me. I left the salon thinking - "this is OK for now but I probably will have to keep looking for my perfect salon."

The no-show policy is wack. They charge you full-price. There are too many good salons in Charleston for them to get away with treating people (and their money) this way. I found this out because they charged me (full-price) for an appointment that I requested to reschedule 3 days in advance. The manager insisted I provide a screenshot of my request to be refunded. Thankfully, I had the texts saved.

I have yet to be refunded. I hate that who's really being punished here is my stylist. Leah, if you do at-home service or change salons, let me know! Bummer to loose out on a 2 year loyal customer.

When I left the salon and looked in the mirror in my car, there was a 1/4 inch band of dye from my left ear, around my forehead, ending at my right ear. I believe when you spend $200+ at a salon, you should expect that the professionals can dye your hair without leaving a ring. If you're wondering why I didn't notice it in the store, it is very dimly lit and I had an appointment to get to following this appointment.

It was in daylight that I could clearly see the issue. Instead of going back in, I called. First, I was told that they have dye remover if I would come back in. I inquired why it wasn't used while I had my appointment. To that, the woman said that the with dark hair dye this happens. I suggested that in my many years of dying my hair, this hadn't happened before.

She went to speak to the stylist who said she knew but didn't want to scrub too hard. I don't recall her scrubbing at all. Truthfully, what I found most irritating was the indignance and nonchalance with which my complaint was handled. I would suggest with all of the great salons in the Charleston area, that you might look elsewhere where you can trust that your money is well spent.

Response to owner: Thank you for responding. I missed the return phone call, but I will call you back in the morning. To be clear, the receptionist was lovely when I called the salon. I would hate for her to bare the brunt of my woe. It was the manager who called back and seemed indignant toward my frustration. Also, you mention in your response that this is a rare situation; however, one of the manager's responses was that this happens with people who need their hair dyed dark.

She made it seem common and something to expect when having hair dyed at a salon. Her response really prompted me to alert people who may expect to leave a salon without a ring around his/her head.

This was my first time at Strawberry Blonde and I was happy to have another salon close to home. I booked my appointment a couple weeks ago. Today, an hour before my appointment they texted saying that the stylist, Raquel, was running behind and asked if they could push my appointment 15 minutes. I wasn't thrilled with it, but I said that'd be okay.

I arrived at my new appointment time and my stylist was not ready. Waited another 20 minutes (35 min) after my original appointment and she still was not done. Sadly I can't even review the services because I didn't have time to wait around for her to get done. Either the staff is scheduling too many appointments in one day or she can't manage her time well. Either way, very disappointed.

I had my haircut and styled by JM in West Ashley. I was going from long hair (past shoulder blades) to above the collarbone. I checked in and sat down for only a few minutes before she took me back to her chair. From the beginning she really took charge of the appointment after I showed her a picture of what I wanted. She further clarified different cutting techniques and what they did to allow me to decide how she should proceed.

She did a dry cut on my hair to ensure I got the length I wanted and then shampooed me. This may have been the best part! She gives the BEST massages and I felt completely relaxed. After I got back to her chair she finished my blunt cut with precision and added texturing layers. I loved the blow-out and curl. She even gave a free sample of Bumble and Bumble dry shampoo - every woman's best friend! I definitely will be back for balayage and future haircuts.

I had an appointment today at the West Ashley location. This was my first time there as I am a new client. The salon was clean and beautifully decorated. My stylist, Hannah, was awesome! She talked to me about what I wanted and then explained what she needed to do in order to achieve that look. I never leave the salon feeling like my hair is exactly what I wanted it to look like, but today I did! I willl definitely be going back and will recommend Hannah to all my friends. Thank you!

Strawberry Blonde is everything a fantastic salon should be. Fabulous stylists who not only are knowledgeable and well versed in different hair types and textures but also friendly, accommodating, warm, and inviting. Leah has been doing my very thick/curly hair for a year and it's never looked better and been healthier. I also can't say enough about the welcoming and comfortable environment.

It's definitely a place you can bring your child if need be and not feel uneasy. I really can't think of any negative aspects, even the prices are reasonable. Just make note that they solely carry Bumble and Bumble products.
