5 stars for the botanical head spa treatment here with Kira! : I used to go to a salon in LA for this treatment and it's nice to know that there's a local Japanese hair salon in San Diego. Kira is an amazing stylist and I always feel great after getting my hair done here! I recommend booking a 45 minute head spa with blow dry/styling. They use organic hair products too. Love this place!

It's been almost 10 years ever since I walked in this place for the first time! The services never disappointed me although the price is on the higher end. But i only get a haircut a couple times a year, so the monthly average is still less than what a lot of guys spend

I found the best hair artist in town. Kira is amazing. Even if I lived out of state, in Oregon, Idaho and now I live in LA I still go to her. I trust her and team Terra Hair Design. I've been going since 2005.

Master at hair cuts AND color. Masa is professional, polite, and a quiet and relaxing place to get your hair done. I always leave very happy.

I really enjoyed my experience at Terra. I am visiting San Diego and I decided to get a cut! Masa was very kind and he did a great job with my curly Latin hair. I love my cut and my hair looks healthy. Highly recommend

They have a Japanese auto hair wash machine. It felt so good I almost fell asleep. Masa the owner/stylist was really meticulous with everything from shampooing to final styling.

Love Kira. I have been seeing her for more than a decade. Greatly appreciate her managing to always squeeze me in when I schedule last minute. I have short, straight, dull hair but the way she cuts it gives it a lot of texture and volume.

I'm really disappointed to be writing this review because initially my mom had some good experiences at this salon and everyone seemed nice but after a few days I'm still so upset with my hair and this salon. I had an appointment for roots/ color, once there began discussing with stylist that maybe partial highlights and a trim would work better.

My mom asked for breakdown of price twice. I got the trim and color and stylist never answered about the price. I was not happy with the result as it's barely obvious that I got highlights, it's light/copper at top and barely obvious elsewhere, really strange. Plus, my grays are still Showing, and the stylist had no time to style/ properly blow dry my hair.

The cut doesn't seem any different than a $50 cut I've gotten elsewhere. Come to find out He decided to charge 130 for my trim and 180 for the botched partial highlights?! Although my hair is thicker than most, charging over $300 for a few bad partial highlights and TRIM is outrageous and wrong. Given the fact that the result was clearly not what it was supposed to be, him charging that excessive amount without even offering to fix my hair or without giving an estimate of how much it was going to be was really messed up and unprofessional.

Kira is the best. She not only gives me professional advice but also always tries to fit my last minute appointment into her busy schedule

I love my haircut by Kaz! She was friendly and welcoming. She took the time to assess my hair and asked me what my main concerns were before discussing how I wanted it cut. They have a hair washing machine that was imported from Japan which was amazing. Parking is easily found on the street or there are 3 parking spots in front. Credit cards are accepted here.

Had a great time getting my hair done with Kaz! I've only had my hair professionally colored a couple times in the past, so I am relatively unfamiliar with the process. Kaz kindly went over the balayage process with me and made recommendations that would fit with my hair color and styling history. Kaz was super helpful and nice, and I'm enjoying the new style!

Kaz is the best. She is very detailed and skilled with her work. Terra Hair Design is where you need to go for all your hair needs. The location is so close to the beach. The mood is always peaceful and relaxing with Kaz at Terra Hair Design.

Been coming here for as long as I can remember, Masa is the very best, it's not you run of the mill salon where your a number, the keep track of you cut and appointments even the products that they use on you. It's not the cheapest price but here you do get what you pay for. Masa is a true stylist and color specialist. They use top quality Japanese products and I won't go anywhere else.

I love this salon. Kaz cut my hair. She did a great job and was very friendly and catered to my needs. I recommend going to Terra. The environment is nice and they give you food and coffee, too!

Terra Hair Design is earning five stars specifically because of my amazing hair stylist Kaz. Kaz is friendly, understanding, and meticulous. She works extremely hard to ensure that you are getting the haircut or style that you desire. Additionally, she offers helpful suggestions on how to improve the quality of your hair, and ways to style your look (things I know nothing about). Kaz has cut and dyed my hair for a few years now, and my haircuts always grow out naturally.

I also appreciate that Kaz is always learning and trying to improve her craft. This salon is slightly on the pricier side because of the high-quality products, luxury massaging hair washing machine (that machine is like heaven), and upscale environment. However, I have found that, despite the price, this salon is the place to go to. As a low maintenance individual, I know just how much hair plays in altering appearance, so I am willing to allocate more funds to manage my look by having beautiful hair. If you're shopping around for an awesome stylist, I would steer you in the direction of Kaz. She's the best!

Top notch salon! The staff is very friendly and are very knowledgeable. The salon is well kept, and had a great ambiance. I've had my hair cut a few times at this location with it's newest employee Kaz, but I have been getting my hair cut by her for over a decade. Her attention to detail and her recommendations are what have kept me coming back for years. I don't think I've ever been unhappy with my haircut, even when I let her experiment with different styles!

I called the salon and made a last minute appointment with Masa a day before New Years. Lucky! Masa did a great job cutting my hair, and giving it a lined and edgy style. He is very creative, patient, and also detail-oriented. I will totally be back. Ask for Masa, and you won't regret it.

I love everything about Terra Hair Design. Considerate staff. Beautiful setting. And most importantly- the best stylists! Masa is basically the only person I let cut my hair. He listens and does such a great job. Definitely recommend!

So it's been a whole week and it's official. I love my haircut. Thank you Lydia T for the recommendation and thank you Yohei for listening to my needs and bringing them to fruition. Yohei took the time to listen to exactly what I was looking for in a cut, and also explained to me the balyage process and the upkeep that is involved, I didn't realize it wasn't as low maintenance as I thought.

I felt so well taken care of right from the beginning. Conversation with Yohei came really easy and I felt as if I'd been coming there for years. We spoke about everything, from Comic-Con to my favorite subject, FOOD! Terra has a hair washing machine from Japan, which I have to say is pretty neat and, to me, calming. There's also one of those crazy toilets that have all the fancy functions, I didn't need to use the bathroom long enough to experience them, but I will say the seat was nice and warm.

I added added a conditioning treatment with my cut, which left my hair super soft and seemingly easier to manage all week. There is a steaming device that encases your entire head of hair, this is to help penetrate the treatment into each stand of hair.again, another interesting tool that adds to all around luxurious pampered feeling you get at Terra.

To top off the treatment, I also received a take home supply to help keep my locks luscious for 4 more weeks. After all of this, I do have one complaint, and it is about the teeny tiny parking lot that is difficult to back up out of onto the busy street, but.an easy solution is to park ON the street, so, no biggie. Terra, Yohei.you have a new regular and I will spread the good word to anyone who asks. I totes adore you!

I love this place! Kira's my stylist, and she's really good. She does my haircut and color. I don't go crazy with the cut, it's straight and simple. I've gotten many compliments from friends though, on my color. Red is known to fade real fast, and that's always been the case for me in the past. Since coming here, the red "sticks", and when it eventually fades, it still fades to a pretty shade of brown. They've also got the fancy Japanese automatic hair-washing machines - such a treat!

It took me forever to find a great stylist in San Diego. Then I met Yohei and now my hair has a safe haven. He has impeccable taste and knows how to shape tresses. The salon is modern and clean. Everyone is very nice and professional. The hair washing machine makes my scalp tingle and I look forward to it each visit. I'm addicted to the deep conditioning hair treatment. It smells delicious! The process is pretty quick and last for weeks. Love this place.

I have gotten hair cuts from Kira for countless times, but my last haircut sometime last year I have not gone back. I went in for a usual cut, but came out with the shortest bangs i have ever had in my life. It took me forever to grow it out. Not only that, but the prices went up and they didn't even tell me ahead of time or update it on the website.

All in all, this place is really expensive now, and judging from how my last hair cut I don't intend to go back just yet. That being said, Kira has cut my hair many times and usually does a wonderful job. But whatever it was on that last visit (bad hair AND an increase in price) didn't sit too well with me. I basically paid more to get a BAD haircut that day. Anyways, I would still check this place out. But only if you're willing to shell out a lot of cash and also very verbal on how you want your hair to be cut.

It's worth paying for. FO-SHO! I rarely get a haircut.more like once a year and when I do, it's usually drastic.so I want to go to a place where I'll be extremely satisfied. You have to book with Masa (owner). He is awesome and quite a conversationalist. He is very welcoming and so are his staff. They will take good care of you! Masa is amazing with the scissors.

He has this belt of gadgets (I call it!) for cutting hair and he whips out each one like a super hero and does his *magic* on your hair. You may have to be patient, because he will take his time (~2 hours) perfecting every strand of your hair from one angle to another. BUT no worries. all the waiting will pay off, because you will walk out of there feeling like a SUPERSTAR! no joke. I always do! I am currently growing out my hair again since I need a change.once I do.you know where I'll be to style it up!
