It was my first time bleaching and coloring my hair and I was so nervous but Kirby at VooDoo was a dream! She's cool as hell and made me feel like a rockstar! I've been back to touch up my color already and it was easy and peaceful! Highly recommend Kirby especially!

I came in to get highlights and a haircut with Sierra and had the most amazing experience. Sierra took the time to fully understand what I was looking for and put some of her input in as well, which turned out looking amazing. She went the extra mile and used products to help with damaged hair and build up and truly wants to make sure you're getting the best outcome. Highly recommend.

Forgot her name so sorry- this place was superior for actually LISTENING AND REPEATING BACK to the customer exactly what she asked for! The price ended up being on the high side, but not really when considering the time and energy put in. Def fun recommend.

The salon is cute, and it's in a great location. I have had mixed experience with the stylists though. I saw Sierra once, who I was generally happy with, but was a total no show for my next appointment with her (hey, life comes up sometimes right?), but the salon made no efforts to make accommodations around that. Second stylist I saw was Ella, but my bob ended up uneven length on either side and my part line wasn't made straight so I have to part it extra far over so no wispy extra long pieces go past my bob. Think I'll give up and try somewhere else.

Devon cut and colored my hair and did a wonderful job. The color suits my skin tone perfectly. I am not a very chatty person and get very nervous in social situations especially like hair salons but Devon did not make me feel bad/weird for being quiet. I had a wonderful experience here and highly recommend Voodoo hair lounge. It has a very welcoming ambiance and I left feeling very satisfied with my hair and with how much money I spent.

I have been coming to Voodoo since late 2016/early 2017. Last year, I had my first cut with Rigpa. My hair came to life after. She is knowledgeable, easy to be with, respectful and efficient. It can be hard to find a stylist who gets one's hair. That is why I come to Boulder from Bend, to be tested by her. I am very fortunate to have found someone who understands my curls.

I had my first hair appointment in about a year and I'm glad I found Kirby. Up until now, I didn't have a particular stylist. Kirby warmly welcomed me into the salon (Monday there's no receptionist) and sat me in her chair. She listened to my intentions for the appointment and gave honest, professional feedback. We agreed on a plan and she took me back for a shampoo.

It was more like a scalp massage, which I now believe I need waaaaay more frequently! It was lovely. She cut layers into my wavy, long hair and helped thin out some of the weight that I desperately needed to shed. She gave a blow dry, maintaining my subtle waves, which I loved. The conversations we had were refreshing and fun, this girl has a great vibe.

She sent me on my way after giving me a great cut, sharing knowledge on what products to use and why, as well as setting me up with the products I need to achieve the look I want. If you don't have a stylist you love, I suggest booking with my girl Kirby.

Recently I went to Voodoo to get highlights and had a wonderful experience! I was extremely scared to try out a new hair salon and could not be happier I choose to try out Voodoo! I booked an appointment with Ela and she approached me immediately once I checked in! She was kind, eager to assist me, and evaluated my options when I described to her the look I was going for!

She easily picked up on what I wanted and talked to me throughout the whole process- making it extremely comfortable and fun! She also kept record of what we did so we can reference it in the future! I am super happy with the results and the great positive vibe the salon and the stylists maintain! Will definitely be coming back!

I have curly hair which can be difficult to cut; it needs to be done dry. I see Rigpa at voodoo, and she's a genius. She understands curly hair and does an amazing job. She's kind, and understanding and really listens to what you want. She's also very knowledgeable about hair care, so I always learn something new. Highly recommend.

I just got my hair done with the wonderful Kirby and I have to say this is the best cut, style and hair color I've ever gotten! I've had my fair share of cut & color in Boulder and nothing compares to Voodoo customer service and their hair products. I'll be coming back to Kirby here on out. This is the second time I have been to Voodoo and I am even more blown away than I was the first time. Folks at the front desk are so accepting and hold space for everyone who walks through the door. Kaira has cut my short curly hair both times I have been there. She is the most amazing stylist I have ever had. She is go with the flow but quick on her feet to come up with just the right look. She is also super fun to talk to : I hope to never have to fine another stylist, but know I am in good hands at Voodoo. You rock, Kaira! Thanks, y'all!

Sierra is simply an amazing stylist. I went in for a curly (dry) cut and came out with exactly what I had hoped for.honestly even better than I had hoped for! Not to mention, she is punctual, friendly, open and just a great person to chat with for an hour. I highly recommend Sierra!

Sierra is the BEST! I came to her with many color ideas and she really got it. She listened and then she made art! I've never been more in love with my hair. I get compliments from friends and strangers alike. Sierra is kind, creative and a true professional. I'll be a client of hers for as long and she'll have me and I'd recommend he to everyone.

I got my hair cut by Sierra a couple weeks ago and I love my cut more each day. Sierra took the time to listen to me and adapt the photos I brought with me for inspiration into something that works for my face shape, hair texture, and lifestyle. That to me is a sign of an experienced stylist. She's also just a cool person. The product recommendation she gave me for more volume was a game changer and my hair has never looked so voluminous. I'm still so excited each morning to style my hair because it looks better than ever and is easier to style.

I know Voodoo is pricey but I really don't mind paying that much for a quality stylist, which Sierra is. I also really appreciate that they take covid protocols seriously.

Stylist cut my hair dry when it was still kinky from a braid I walked in with. Photo says it all. Scheduled a 'standard hair cut' (that comes with blow dry style) that was supposed to last 60-75 minutes. I was out in 45 minutes WITH DIRTY HAIR. My stylist, Rigpa Lijoi, didn't wash my hair after the dry cut she did on me. This place let me walk out with filthy hair when it's SUPPOSED TO COME WITH WASH & DRY. Nobody should walk out of a salon with filthy, kinked hair. You're supposed to feel amazing and having clean hair (that I paid for) is the minimum.

I just had an appointment with Anna. She was super good at listening to what I wanted and explained everything she was doing and why. I usually get a lot of anxiety over hair cuts and she very helpful making it a comfortable experience. She was really easy to talk to and obviously enjoys what she does. 10/10 would recommend! A bonus is that they dont go gendered hair cuts, you decide what length/type you want and pay from that :

The owner, Ann, DOES REQUIRE MASKS, EVEN THO YOU HAVE PROOF OF HAVING BEEN DOUBLE VAXED, BUT IF YOU FORGET TO BRING YOUR OWN, she charges $2.00 for a mask for which she paid $0.16, per Amazon, for the privilege of paying out the nose for a haircut! i guess she'll start charging for parking next!

Amber Tillinghast is a hair goddess. I was very nervous to get my hair worked on, I don't trust easily with my hair. Amber completely calmed my nerves, listened to all of my questions/concerns and made me feel comfortable in her chair. She completely transformed my blonde, and my hair looks/feels SO GOOD! So healthy and full of volume. Amber is a creative, experienced and knowledgeable stylist and I will definitely be back!

Yesterday was my first appointment at Voodoo. Stacey did such an incredible job! I came in with a pretty botched/grown out balayage and she corrected and blended it perfectly. I'll be back!

FRANCESCO (aka Frank) IS FANTASTIC. THIS STYLIST IS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS AND SURELY COLORADO FOR MANY REASONS. He is thoughtful and precise with his consultations before washing. He is caring and knowledgeable about many things, hair being an obvious passion. I really enjoy our conversation and when I normally go home with crossed fingers in hopes I can style my cut daily as well as in the salon, he always spends the time and with great detail and description teaches me new tricks and techniques to try at home to promote health and killer style.

I spent 10 years in Chicago mostly seeing a few senior stylists at Art & Science and one other salon, Frank is creme de la creme when it comes to experience. My husband has been seeing him for over 2 years. I don't know why I didn't book with him sooner. Love you Francesco! On returning to the Boulder area, I was searching for a stylist to do color and cut. I have worn the same color and cut, no problems, happily for four years. I was scheduled with Katie. She did a really excellent cut and I decided to return for color. On the first round, my color looked similar to what I wanted (I had showed her photos). The second round of color turned from platinum to a muddy beige color on my return home.

I returned for correction. She repeatedly worked on my hair but it remained yellow. When I objected, she told me I "must see color very differently". I had earlier asked about a very narrow, bright stripe of color. No problem, she said. Seconds after she applied the color, she yelped "oh, no!" and rushed me back to shampoo it---as the color was rapidly spreading all over my head.

I literally stayed for hours while she attempted to control the mess of my hair; she succeeded only in drying and splitting my hair, which was now yellow with a 3-4 inch wide dark greenish blob extending shapelesslyacross my head---like a broken egg. I have always paid well for good work on my hair. This was the first truly HORRIBLE result I've ever had.

I am a professional woman, and am beyond embarrassed to be seen by even my neighbors. My hair looks like *trash*. I try not to look much as I cry over how long it may be before I can have it cut out and recolored elsewhere. Do not go to Katie for color. I spent five hours as she finally broke down in tears over the ghastly, trashy mess she'd made of my hair. I am humiliated to go out and angry over her botched results.

Bad juju left in my hair. I asked for my face to be shaped and instead had to stop the stylist from giving me bangs. I was explicit about keeping my bob shape and walked out with the haircut I had in 7th grade with side bangs. Seemed like the stylist had zero experience with voluminous curly hair, cut when it was wet and flat. got blow dried straight without realizing it was being straightened. left feeling utterly not myself. Had to reshape it myself over the next few weeks.

A reminder why letting strangers cut your hair can be risky. $200 for a cut I had to fix and highlights that I also had to fix. I communicated clearly about what I wanted too. Can't trust just anybody just because they charge the equivalent of a car payment.

I just got my hair cut by Maeve and it was a wonderful experience! Voodoo hair salon is a really nice, upscale salon that offers great service. Covid protocols are strictly enforced - touchless temperature check, a lot of sanitizing, and more like 12 feet of distancing than 6 in the salon. Maeve is a wonderful stylist who really knows how to customize a haircut to suit the client's face and lifestyle.

My hair was extremely dry and damaged from previous coloring, and would take almost 3 hours a week to detangle due to the length and frizz. We cut off about 8 inches and due to some skillful layering my hair looks great now. My hair was about lower back length before and now that it's cut to about below collarbone with some awesome layers, I'm really enjoying how much more vibrant my highlights look with much more smoothness and body in my hair. Thanks Maeve for a great haircut!

This business is attempting to charge my credit card in an unauthorized fashion and for a service I have not received. I paid with this credit card last year when I got my hair cut here and apparently they keep cards on file? I called and received a very pretentious attitude and nothing was solved, however the manger did admit to booking me the wrong appointment over the phone.

This all came about from me attempting to reschedule a bang trim this week In which they booked a wrong service for me in the first place over the phone! The manger claims I "violated their cancellation policy". If that's the case, why are they charging me more than the service of a bang trim originally cost? Yikes, nobody needs this drama over a bang trim. DO NOT GO HERE, they are very unprofessional.

Dear Voodoo Hair Lounge and readers, The pictures and the honest review I provided on 8/17/2020 will speak for itself. While Voodoo may try to paint me in a bad light because they are embarrassed by the review they received, at the end of the day my hair was damaged and incorrectly dyed. Period. It would have been incredibly responsible from a business perspective if Voodoo would have acknowledged the poor cut and color instead of blaming the situation on a "misunderstanding".

The true test of a company's credibility is not when they do what they are supposed to but when they are faced with adversity. When I went to a different salon to address the issue, a "simple toner and reshaping" was not the solution. After the stylist at the salon said "you poor thing" and pointed out additional problems such as highlights halfway down my scalp and how the blond actually looked GREEN in some lights, this further confirmed the extensive errors made. Months of repair will be needed and additional treatments to restore my hair's integrity. Readers- let's be honest, would you go back to a place that damaged your hair and / or personal belongings?

What about a restaurant where you had bad service or food? No. Honest reviews are what allow consumers to make informed decisions when seeking services. I hope you find mine useful when seeking a hair cut and color. Voodoo is simply not the answer. The high ratings are misleading as they do not speak to the quality of service received.

I booked one service here. I do not color my hair so I only booked a female hair cut. My hairdresser did a good job. Unless a hairdresser just completely butchered my hair, it's such a unique experience from stylist to stylist that I wouldn't be able to critique them. However, my review is more on the experience at the hair salon as a whole.

Parking was a nightmare. There is a private lot, but it's small and it's a busy salon. Parking is one of my pet peeves so I typically look for a salon that has a private lot so that I don't have to arrive thirty minutes early driving around for additional parking. It is not on the Pearl St Mall, so it's easier than that. But it's not easy.

And it's expensive. It's a nice, trendy salon that uses quality hair care products and appeared to have very qualified employees. It's just plain expensive. For men's cuts for women's cuts - it's expensive. I found this place on Yelp and it had amazing (and a lot!) of reviews. Would I go back? Maybe. But I would search around first for something less expensive. I did not feel like my service was worth what I paid.

Anyone who knows me knows that I do not "girl" very well and therefore need all of the help I can get. I literally require a guide in makeup aisles and if I manage to brush my hair in the mornings, I'm doing well for my appearance. I was fortunate to discover this place via Yelp Elite event, and it's going to become my go-to place in the Boulder area for when I need to be presentable. It's a pleasant place in a nice location with a kind, understanding, and skilled staff. Help me Voodoo Hair Lounge, you're my only hope.
