I am just going to describe my experience. because it speaks for itself. I live 25 minutes across town. I used to live in the area and always wanted to try this place for a treatment and cut. I called on Wednesday the 14th and asked about availability tomorrow (Thursday the 15th) or next week. The receptionist was bubbly and gracious so I had high hopes!
She asked various stylists about fitting me in. They were busy and she couldn't find a stylist with an immediate answer so I agreed to have someone reach out when availability was found and get on schedule. No big deal at all. Shortly after that a stylist reached out via text, introduced herself, and said she could see me tomorrow (Thursday the 15th at 5:00pm).
I booked and decided to work remotely from a friend's house on that day because she lives in the area. That meant I'd only have to drive 5 minutes in the latter part of the day to get to my appointment. When I arrived I was shown the bathroom, smock room etc and the chair where I would sit and wait for my stylist.who was "not in yet". I like to think I am forgiving and patient and had no problem sitting to wait for awhile, but then ten minutes passed.
Another ten minutes passed. Nobody else had spoken to me since I had sat down and I was beginning to look around the room to indicate concern. After 25 minutes of waiting, and I am not exaggerating, I asked the receptionist if my stylist was going to make it. She called the stylist who was still at home. The stylist said over speaker phone to me and the receptionist that she thought my appointment was for tomorrow the 16th.
I showed the receptionist on my phone the irrefutable text from the stylist from the day before indicating that my appointment had been confirmed by her as for today at 5pm. She apologized but that was that. They seemed to think offering the next day was going to assuage me.but I don't have availability and that is why I scheduled for today not the next day.
A gentleman on my way out apologized as well. I have to be honest. I thought the whole thing was handled too casually. I was not offered a free anything or even a discount should I choose to reschedule, no manager came over or called, the stylist did not try to make any further amends. "I'm sorry that that happened" is appreciated but doesn't really make up for the inconvenience and the disrespectful waste of someone's time.
I had hoped that the stylist just couldn't make it in because of the random spring snow. THAT I can understand. but I have written proof of confirmation for an appointment that was simply not attended. Its just a hair cut, but professionally I am not sure that I would recommend this place. Appointments are important on both ends- because stylist's time and service is important and valued, and so should the customer's time and choice of service be valued. That was a great way to lose a new customer and gain a poor review. I appreciate the apologies, but this was a really disappointing experience.

I've been a client of Janine for about 15 years. She's the best stylist ever! I've had cuts, hi-lights, and yesterday she gave me a perm as I'm wanting to grow it out after losing it from chemo a year ago. Over the years I've brought in photos of what I'd want my hair to look like and she always listens and will let me know realistically what I can or can't expect because of my hair type. I highly recommend Janine. Headwaves is a great salon, the owner is always welcoming and the vibe is very chill.

My haircut today was one of the most relaxing experiences I've ever had. Usually I get a quick, inexpensive trim without the wash or styling, so this was a real luxury. I was able to get an appointment within an hour of calling Headwaves, and the stylist, Christina, had me back in the chair within minutes of my arrival. The products used to wash my hair smelled delicious but the halogen lights above the sink were way too bright.
They either need to dim the lights or pass out complimentary blindfolds. Christina took her time cutting my hair, making sure to get it just right. But, my absolute favorite part was the blow out and styling. I think I might have even dozed off for a few minutes. And, when I woke up, my hair was cut and styled just like I asked. I will definitely be coming back again!

I moved from KCMO and was saving my hair cuts for my stylist back home. A co-worker or mine recommended Headwaves, and I am so so happy that I went! Evelyn did an amazing job on cutting my kinky curly hair and even helped me to achieve a shorter style. I felt right at home in the salon and everyone was very kind!

I've been going to Headwaves for a long time. Frankie Wilson is my stylist (don't confuse her with Frankie, the owner). In short, Frankie is a genius at everything hair. Highlights, all-over color, cutting, looking at pictures and replicating the cut. She's accommodating, patient, friendly -- everything you'd want your stylist to be. I've had manicures, facials, and bought many products at Headwaves. If you're new to Denver, new to the neighborhood, or new to Headwaves this is your new home!

I'm new to this neighborhood and saw the good reviews for Headwaves, so I made an appointment for a haircut. Lynn was so friendly and attentive. She did a good consultation with me before she started, so I felt like she understood what I was wanting. I was very comfortable and very pleased with the results! The salon is clean and nice. I will definitely be going back here for my next cut!

It is very sad that someone left a single star for this great place, and even sadder still is the fact that she is so obviously ageist and plain old mean. I have been going to this salon for 15 years and have never once had a bad experience, not to mention a bad haircut. Frankie the owner is a really sweet guy, and greets all his customers personally.
I highly doubt that a business that was as poorly run and operated as the mean reviewer suggests would have been in business for so long. Plus, I go to a salon to get my hair cut. I call my friends on the phone to talk!
