Stay away from these "chemo girl hair extensions"! I paid $3,000 for extensions that have shed since day one, and 14 bonds have fallen out so far a month and a half after they have been placed. While I was getting them put in, he said "I'll put another row at the bottom before we're done". That didn't happen even though I paid for them, because he was rushing to get done and home to his wife for dinner, per his phone conversation with her.
While I was there he said "you might lose 2 or 3 total before coming back to get the extensions moved up" after I lost 5 the first week, I asked him and he said "you'll lose up to 10". After I lost 8 not long after and told him how much they were shedding and all he said was, "your scalp must be oily". I live in Colorado which is a really dry climate, and my hair has never been oily.
He is taking advantage of women who so desperately want normal hair again after chemo, and charging $3,000 for hair extensions that fall out and shed. Charges another $1,500 every 3 months to have whatever's left over from the shedding and falling out to get moved back up your head again. Please stay away from this scam! Horrible way to run a business. Zero stars if I could.

I have had extensions done many times, over at least a 7 year period, and Jon is EXTREMELY talented! He is able to install extensions on very short hair, which other salons refuse to do. He really, truly, knows what he is doing which is not always the case plus he makes sure you understand how to care for your extensions once you leave his salon.

Jon is Extremely Talented I've been going to Jon Richards for haircuts and color for many years. I travel a fairly good distance to get to him because I feel his skill and expertise are well worth it. Although I have never had extensions myself, over the years I have met a number of his extremely satisfied clients. And I must admit, they look fabulous; very natural with thick, luxurious hair.
That is why I was most surprised to see a review posted earlier this year from one of Jon's clients who was dissatisfied with her extensions. I guess you truly can't please everyone all of the time. But honestly I think others ought to give Jon a try at creating something amazing and decide for themselves. He is always willing to provide a consultation so you really have nothing to lose. And besides, I can guarantee that you will be delighted with his wonderful personality. Do yourself a favor and schedule a meeting with Jon!

All it can take is one bad review to discredit your business. But don't listen to one client. There always will be those, no matter how good you are. Jon has been doing extensions for over 15 years, and if you want to know how good he really is, go to his facebook page and check out the wonderful comments from other clients who were thrilled with their extensions.
You can never and will never please everyone. Different factors can cause different results, but Jon has way more happy clients, then those who were unhappy. To read his facebook ratings you can go here. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jon-Richards-Salon/51442181295?sk=reviews

Jon is a very nice guy, and he'd probably be fine for a haircut. But I strongly urge you not to get extensions with him because for me it was literally the worst hair experience of my life and continues to haunt me. I guess I learned my lesson: don't get extensions, but especially don't get extensions from a man who shaves his head.
Let me just list a few of the things I was/am unhappy about. 1. LOW QUALITY HAIR. The quality of the hair was bad. He told me I was getting European fine hair (the only thing that would work will with my very fine hair.) But, the hair was coarse and dry and extremely tangly, and when I went to another salon for a second opinion they told me no way was it European fine and that I had been taken advantage of. 2. DIDN'T LISTEN TO ME. Jon did not listen to my concerns.
No matter what I did, the hair tangled horribly, and I told Jon this, but he made light of my concerns and could never seem to solve the problem. He gave me products that didn't help. He told me to flat iron it, but that didn't help. He "thinned it out" which just made it look thin and tangly. 3. HURT MY HEAD. The extensions often hurt. I asked if they were messing up my real hair, and he said no, but that was a LIE (see #6). 4. TOLD ME CONFLICTING THINGS AND JUST SEEMED GENERALLY CLUELESS. Jon told me conflicting things.
He said I could wear my hair in a low ponytail, but then, when the extensions "looped" and matted, he said it was because I was wearing my hair in a ponytail. "So I shouldn't wear my hair in a ponytail?" I asked. "No, you can, " he said. WTF? He also told me that using Moroccan oil would keep my hair from tangling, then he said it was the oil that was making it tangle.
And so on. 5. ROUGH WITH MY HAIR. He was rough with my hair. He would yank and rip the extensions apart when they would get matted and dreaded (which they seemed to do immediately, no matter what I did to try to take care of them). When I got the extensions taken out he yanked and pulled and my scalp was on fire. 5. THE EXTENSIONS RUINED MY HAIR! I kept asking Jon if the extensions were hurting my hair and he assured me no, everything was great, and wow, I was going to be amazed when the extensions came out and I saw how long my hair had gotten. Yeah, I was amazed when the extensions came out and I saw how THIN my hair had gotten.
I only wore them for 4 months and somehow I had lost half of my hair. I've always had fine hair, but now my hair is HORRIBLY THIN. I feel like I've lost about 50% of the volume of my hair. I got it cut short to try to hide this fact, but it still looks and feels TERRIBLE. It feels like candy floss or baby hair. I feel so ugly and I hope to GOD that my hair starts to grow back and go back to normal.
I want to say it's all Jon's fault, but I know it's not. I should have done more research and gone somewhere else for my extensions. In fact, I just shouldn't have gotten extensions at all. I only had them in for 4 months (cost me $1200) and they were nothing but stress and frustration from day one. And now they've ruined my real hair.
My suggestion for everyone is: don't get extensions at all. But if you do, O NOT go to Jon. He is not sympathetic to your problems and does not listen to you, and even though he's been doing extensions for a long time I don't think he really understands what women want when it comes to their hair. He thinks all we care about is length, but I'd much rather have short hair with body than thin candy floss hair of any length.
I hate to be mean because like I said, he's a very nice guy who is dedicated to his career, but he RUINED my hair and having extensions with him was nothing but STRESS and FRUSTRATION.
