We had such an amazing experience at Salon ^ PK. Jasmyne did a wonderful job on my daughter's hair. It was her first time getting her hair straightened and trimmed. Jasmyne made sure the experience was nothing short of exceptional. She also recommended products and tips to better care for her hair. The salon was very clean. Charlina, Lauren, & Jasmyne were all extremely professional and displayed great customer service. If you're looking for the perfect salon for your natural hair, this is it!

I am so upset! So I scheduled a set consultation last week on Saturday for a hair emergency. The stylist texted me and said the she had a family emergency and if there's anyway I can come in earlier. I told her that my son had a football game and I could not. She replied "okay no worries".Than at 8pm she texted me " Hi good morning, I just had a family emergency come up and I have to leave the salon this morning. Is the virtual consultation something you're able to do?" I replied back" yes"and the consultation was done during my child soccer game.

Call went fine and I was optimistic. I originally scheduled my appointment for March 12 b/c that was the only Saturday available. During my virtual consultation, the stylist informed me that she had a cancellation for 2/19 on a Saturday and she can see me at 11am. I was excited to the point where I canceled a previous engagement I had plan to attend!

I did so while we were on the phone. Let it be known, she was well aware! Fast forward to 2/19. I arrive there at 11: 00 and to my surprise the same stylist asking me who am I there to see. I reminded her of our last conversation. She somehow doesn't recall that we rescheduled. In between me trying to jog her memory I can tell it clicked. She than informed me that she had ANOTHER EMERGENCY, this time with her car, and she couldn't see me.

It was so awkward due to the fact that she had a customer in the chair and I was basically getting kicked out of the establishment. She apologized for the inconvenience. She offered to see me any other day and time of my liking but her track record turned me off. As the saying goes "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Very disappointed all in all.

I visited this salon for the first time and my experience was AMAZING! The salon is beautiful, spacious and well up to my standards. My stylist was Jasmyne whom I absolutely loved! She was professional, attentive, and patient with all my hair (anxiety) needs. I explained my concerns and she quickly provided the best services along with educated remedies to restore the overall health of my hair. I would recommend Jasmyne to anyone looking for a great stylist that does their absolute best to satisfy their client. Jasmyne, you ROCK and I will definitely be back

The staff is always professional and they offer quality services. The atmosphere is comfortable and the space is always very well kept. They are clean and strict about adherence to COVID guidelines for safety. Relaxed hair, natural, any length or color, the stylists at SalonPK will not just style your hair, but, they will help you learn to manage your hair in the most healthy way. Jasmyne is my natural hair stylist, and I love her work.

She pays attention to my requests, gives me real expectations, advises me on the best techniques and products to sustain my style when she's done, and manages her time well such that even if she has other clients I'm not left waiting for long periods of time. She's par for the course in this salon. I definitely recommend!

It's been 2 days and I'm still upset. This is the first-time I left a slon and cried in my car. I've worn protect styles for 3 years. The ONLY reason I went here was because my braid appt was canceled last minute and I had already taken the old ones down. So I was grateful and happy for a same day appointment at a reputable salon. Jasmine burned my head, burned my hair then cut 2 inches off (swearing it was damaged) because she has NO real experience with 4c hair. Devastated is an understatement. My age and manners kept me from acting out. I expected better. ***And the lack of accountability is disgusting. Remember, you get what you give. Karma.

I figured I would write a review since there was no resolution. When the stylists at this salon mess up on your hair, they blame it on the you instead of taking responsibility. News cast friends, long time friends & clergy wives receive special attention, so be forewarned. I would like to tell you about my 2nd color experience that I received in April of 2019.

About a year or so prior, I advised Lauren that I wanted to go platinum blonde. She advised me of the steps I needed to take to be able to get my hair this color, such as becoming fully natural as I was still relaxed. During the transition period from relaxed to natural I visited the salon regularly for conditioner treatments. After I received the all clear from Lauren to proceed with the coloring process, I received an ashe blonde color on January 19, 2019.

I was fine with this as I knew & was advised I couldn't go from black to platinum blonde in one visit. I received my ashe blonde & I loved the color, but I still wanted to go lighter to platinum blonde. My hair was healthy & did not shed outside normal shedding. Between my first coloring visit & up until my second color visit in April of 2019, I didn't visit the shop regularly (weekly) because of work obligations.

During this time I also had to work out of the country for a month, but my hair was not shedding more than normal. After I received my 2nd color process in April 2019, I noticed my hair started shedding more than normal even if I just touched my hair. I didn't give it too much thought because it wasn't whole strands of hair popping off & I have thick hair.

As time went on more hair began to shed & my hair didn't feel full/thick like it was prior to the 2nd color session. I asked Lauren with my hair shedding more than normal do I have anything to worry about & she said she would only worry if I started to have thin/bald spots. Lol. My hair hadn't progressed to this point yet & didn't think it would. On a prior visit, I advised Lauren of the excessive shedding & was advised because I didn't visit the salon regularly (weekly) to get my hair conditioned & me going out of the country for a month between my first color & April 2019, this caused my hair to shed more than normal.

My at home moisture process did not change between January 2019 & April 2019 as I also visited the salon a few times during this time. The few times that I visited the salon after my April 2019 coloring process, Lauren advised me to try different products (Mizani h20 & repairing shampoo/conditioning products) to increase my moisture to slow down the shedding.

Over these 2-3 months, they slightly slowed down the shedding but my hair was still shredding more than normal. I've been wearing protective styles since my last salon pk visit, trying to slow down the excessive shedding with less hair manipulation, but this didn't help. After getting frustrated with the shedding I decided to visit another salon & was advised that my hair bonds were broken/fried during the 2nd coloring process & there was no moisture element added to the color when it was applied to my hair.

My hair was doomed when I received my 2nd coloring process in April 2019. Getting moisture treatments & using various mizani products were only used as a bandage on the issue, but Lauren advised more moisturizers would help with the excessive shedding. This did not correct the issue. I understand that Lauren has been coloring hair for sometime on other people's hair, but something went wrong with my coloring process & it wasn't my fault nor my hair was the issue.

There was no apology/refund offered as the issue was blamed on me. My last color process at SalonPK was $300+ & I expected to enjoy my color for longer than I did. I did not expect to have to cut all of the color off to get my hair back healthy. I've had platinum blonde before & did not have any shedding/breakage of this magnitude. I gave salon pk a second chance with my hair color & I am not satisfied with the outcome. Would not recommend at all! Unsatisfied customer

Unfortunately I'm having to change my review to 1 star. If you want a forever place, this is not it. Unfortunately Jacksonville does not have the best when it comes to hair salons. This is the second time my stylist has been let go (both different individuals). I have not been notified that my appointment was canceled. Luckily I was able to find my stylist on Facebook, who was able to inform me of what happened because I called the salon 3 times and they haven't answered.

They make the choice to not rehire great talent A LOT. Whoever runs this shop doesn't care enough about customer experience, and doesn't make the best political decisions for their business either. If you let your employees go, the experience affects the customers unless you go out of your way to make it seamless. The first time I showed up to the shop and wasted my time, this time I was smart enough to call first since I didn't receive an appointment confirmation.

Just to share my experience, I went to a hair salon in Gainesville, FL for about 4 or 5 years. Similar quality stylists (a little better if I'm being honest). I would say out of the 8ish stylists that were there, at least 6 of them were there the entire time that I was going. One of those 6 was my hair stylists. They had customer and employee appreciation events, and even made and sold their own hair products.

This is a BLACK OWNED salon. ALL of their stylists were A1! I KNEW that if my hair stylist was not able to come in, WHOEVER did my hair was going to do a phenomenal job. They were a family. I imagine instead of firing people, they probably have them something like (hmm let me guess) constructive criticism. They have done an amazing job at conducting a successful ethnic haircare business.

They have also been in the same location the entire time. The consistent service kept me and many others going back for years and I promise you if they were here, I would be going there. I saw so much potential in this salon. It pretty much is like the Jacksonville version of that salon, and we all know Jacksonville has different standards. Hope to see this salon turn it around one day and retain a bit more business.
