Had a terrible experience. Worst haircut ever and the hairdresser was extremely rude. Salon was dirty.

Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Value I went here on a whim while in town visiting my parents to fix my brassy hair. Emily surpassed my hopes - she toned my hair so well from an orangey balayage to a gorgeous ashy caramel. I'm so excited with my new look! Loved it. Clean, courteous and proficient. Also, you don't have to book crazily ahead of time for an appointment. Just a few days in advance for your preferred stylist.

Second time here Amanda Slayed my hair! Got a balayage and cut and style! Never had such a wonderful hair experience from the check in process to the blow dry I recommend anyone coming here!

Had a wonderful first visit at James Joseph Salon! Came here for a much needed haircut, Karen greeted me at he front, and walked me back into a sparkling clean chair. She was professional, skilled, and very personable. I felt very cared for, and particularly appreciated the extra time she spend with me during the consult at the beginning of the appointment (My hair came out perfect!). I can't recommend Jess Riccio enough! I moved to DC five years ago, and tried four or five stylists before deciding none of them could compare. Now I schedule my haircuts around my trips back to the northeast. She takes the time to listen and also advise. She is meticulous and clearly takes pride in her work. I've never had a bad haircut from Jess - and I've never had a better haircut from anyone else. She's cut my hair when it's long and chopped it down into a short little bob. She's totally versatile, super talented and also a wonderful person. You should book with her. Really. You won't be disappointed.

I had a hair appointment with a stylist for a partial, the girl was super nice but I ended up not loving the color. The manager promptly called me back the next day, was so genuine about making me another appointment and accommodating my schedule. I saw a different stylist, Karen, and I have never been happier with my hair. Although in the beginning I wasn't pleased, the experience was still a 10/10. Would highly recommend Karen and I will be visiting again.

Emma knows her stuff! She picked the perfect color and tone for me and shaped my thin, fine hair into a style that is perfect for me. She was great at translating what I described.

I was a walk in today and was able to be taken care of by Bianca Zarba. Her attitude and professionalism were far above what I had seen and most other salons and barber shops. Well done Bianca! Thank you for a great cut fast service and great conversation.

Went for a blowout and the senior stylist used products that made 5 extentions slip out of my head during the blowout, for anyone that's not familiar with extentions that's $100 worth of hair. Daniela did retape them in which I was grateful for, however she didn't put them where the came from and so high in my head you can now see the bonds when I put them into a ponytail.

I told her what my hair was not able to use because of extention rules. Will not be returning. Left midway through appt when hair was dry enough even with a lot of damp patches. Waste of $60.

Janelle was amazing! She was so caring and really took care of my needs and what I wanted. My hair has never looked better since going to her! I always leave my appointments feeling satisfied and happy with the money I've paid. Would definitely recommend Janelle to anyone and everyone!

Janelle did an amazing job on my hair! My hair was a huge frizzy mess before She transformed it with Brazilian blowout and it came out SO good! My hair was so soft and shiny for a good few months. Highly recommend her. She's a lovely person, funny, attentive and very professional! Best hair stylist and best service

Had Stephanie and she is fantastic. Listened to everything I wanted and the results came out perfect. Won't go to any other hairdresser again!

The hairdresser smelled like smoke. All I could smell while he was styling my hair. Should have a policy about smoking at work, especially if he hands are in or around people's face. Won't go back.

Finding a stylist is challenging. Having gone to this studio in Back Bay, I assumed this would be a similar experienced. Unfortunately it was not. The stylist I had was clearly over booked leaving me to sit with foils for close to 1 hour. When time to rinse I was left with my head in the sink for another 20 minutes. Ultimately, my hair was left to process too long and now has blue/grey streaks running through it.

When it came time for the cut, I showed her pictures. What I walked out with was not even close. I have an unattractive bob with no texture. The final straw was the price. $300 for over processed hair with a horrible cut. Completely disappointed and won't be back.

Went into this salon with INCREDIBLY damaged and very long, dark, black hair that I box colored numerous times. The people there were immediately SO friendly and cool and my stylist, Denise made me feel so comfortable right away. Her hilarious and down to earth, yet classy and highly customer service oriented personality, coupled with her stellar skills and caliber of talent so high, make her a precious GEM to this industry! I left there with hair So gorgeous that it exceeded all my expectations! Denise has a client for life!

This salon is so clean, their technology and products are top-notch, and the staff is incredible. Denise Lavino is a master-mind and by far the best stylist I have ever seen! She will be honest and has that eye to create a look that is perfect for you. Not to mention she is hilarious and a fantastic person. This salon makes you feel comfortable and well taken care of. I thoroughly look forward to my appointments, the massage chairs at the sink and the head massage after your wash! Highly recommend :

I love this location! Making an appointment is so easy and all of the staff is so kind and courteous. They also use the best professional products. I really enjoy coming here to get my hair done and plan on sticking with this location. There's also plenty of parking at any time of day.

I found this place in a panic after my hair was butchered at another salon and could not be happier! My appointment was with Melissa who worked a miracle with the disaster I came in with. Not only was she able to fix the color but was able to give me an awesome cut without losing too much length. She gave me her honest input on what would be best for remedying the situation which I think is an invaluable quality in a hairdresser. Everyone there was super friendly and they also have awesome products. I would highly recommend Melissa and am so happy to have found someone as great as she is!

Danielle did an awesome job on my hair! I'm very pleased with the golden light brown bayalage look along with my long voluminous layers! Great look for the fall! Will definitely return!

The new James Joseph Salon at Marketstreet in Lynnfield is finally open! Though I've been faithfully travelling to the Medford location for years to get my super-pro haircut from Mayumi - she moved to the new location and I followed suit like a baby bird. The new space is huge and open. Great modern decor and all around a pretty space. Hair styling chairs line up in bays along one wall and there are a handful of hair-washing sinks in the back corner.

I like that everything is open and airy. The sinks are equipped with very fancy reclining massage chairs -- while I was a little freaked out at first (was I breaking the chair?) the reclined massage that came along with my hair wash was very welcomed. As always I got the best haircut from Mayumi. She gets me. And the rest of the staff was super nice and friendly, as expected.

Love that this space is so close to so many great restaurants, shops and a Whole Foods. I can run all the errands I want and need before or after my salon visit -- which makes my life all the more efficient!
