After a life-long battle with alopecia, Patricia helped my mom find her confidence again with a custom cut and colored topper! For the first time EVER I heard my mom call herself beautiful after wearing her new hair out in public. We couldn't be more grateful for the talented group of professionals at Salon 10! Even the admin staff are kind and helpful.
My only qualm was when my mom brought her hair piece home, she noticed that one of the clips was broken. For a hairpiece that costs several thousands of dollars, I would have hoped the clips would stay in place longer than a day.hopefully the salon can help!

Absolutely love this Salon. I flew into Boston on a Friday, with what I thought was enough time to arrive on time for my 10 am appointment, but unfortunately Boston traffic had other plans for me. After showing up 15 minutes late Pat was patiently waiting for me. She is fantastic, very patient, allowed me to try on numerous hair pieces until I was completely delighted with my choice.
The salon was booked solid Friday and Saturday and I was flying out Monday morning, I really wanted to get it trimmed up and make it my own, so Pat came in early for me on Saturday morning! The Salon was unbelievably accommodating.

My mom started chemo and we came in for a wig. From start to finish Jamie was very patient and helpful with the whole process. He made sure that we were happy with our decision and was super helpful through the consultation and fitting. The rest of the salon team was also very nice and welcoming. Overall very clean and professional environment. Everyone made an otherwise stressful and emotion situation very smooth.

I have Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia and am losing my hair. I never expected this journey to be so emotional or to be so depressed. I never want to go out anymore or even go to work with my hair loss as I was embarrassed and ashamed. In looking for a solution, I came across The Salon at 10 Newbury. I started with a virtual consultation with the owner, Patricia Wrixon. Pat was INCREDIBLE and was so understanding and supportive!
I booked an appointment and because I live more than 6 hours away, she booked me on a Thursday morning, allowing us more than enough time to find the correct hair piece, overnight ship it, color and highlight on Friday and cut and blend with my bio hair Saturday along with teaching me all about the care of Follea hair pieces. Living so far away, Ashley (Office Manager) and Sara answered endless questions and emails.
They ensured our trip was pure perfection. When we entered the Salon, the staff is amazing at Covid precautions as well as assuring you are seen in a private space due to the emotions of hair loss. We were offered coffee, americano, espresso, water and were catered to like royalty. Pat even helped us find the most amazing place to have dinner that evening!
I am deathly afraid of going bald and the texture of my hair has drastically changed. Because of this, my husband and I decided I would purchase a Follea topper and a Follea wig that match; therefore I can wear whichever I am more comfortable in at the moment and no one will be the wiser! Not only did Pat not oversell, she was quick to point out that we did not have to decide that moment.
By purchasing two pieces, it never dawned on me this meant twice the amount of work for Pat, the amazing guru of color, Michelle, and the fantastic hair cut/blend Agi! And yet, they ensured that we had everything including education before we left on Saturday and had both pieces that match perfectly! The pictures below are the follea topper. I am over the moon about how this blends and cannot say enough about this salon.
They are not just helping you feel beautiful again, they are helping to give you back your life. Do not hesitate to make your appointment today. You will NOT be disappointed! Thank you Pat, Ashley, Sara, Michelle, Agi and team from the bottom of my heart! Karen

I have trichotillomania and finally made the decision to get a wig. I was quite apprehensive about the whole process, but Patricia and her team made me feel valued and beautiful every step of the way. These people are ARTISTS. I can't say that enough. The level of skill they have is astounding -- from dealing with my wig's complex color job to cutting and fitting it, their abilities are world-class.
For anyone dealing with hair loss, this is your place. My family is astounded with the results and never thought a wig could look so good. Thank you, team! I'm over the moon.

I came in with my mum today to get a wig (she's losing hair after starting chemo treatments). Before the appointment, she was sad and feeling low about losing her hair. A few hours later, she walked out with a brand new head of gorgeous hair and feeling great! The owner is amazingly kind and patient, and everyone in the salon was a delight to be around. Michelle trimmed the wig and taught my mum how to put the wig on, and in a few weeks, we'll go back to learn how to take care of the wig.
The way that they walk you through the process and options is extremely comforting. When you're losing your hair and feeling less than yourself, these folks really know how to get you feeling good again. They're not at all pushy, and are just so supportive, fun, and kind. I'd love to go back to the salon sometime to get my own hair styled.

I was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer at 34 years old and never imagine having to worry about being bald or other body changes that come with cancer. Pat and Michele made having cancer a little better and made me feel like my old self with the wig that they colored and cut for me. I highly recommend them and will continue to go to salon 10 as they are incredible.

I've had may haircuts at Salon 10 with Kristine in the last 3 years. She's amazing and well worth the price you pay. I recently went back and felt safe with the equipment and precautions in the salon post-pandemic. The staff is as friendly and helpful as ever. Made my appointment via Google Assistant and it was so easy.

My sister found the Salon at 10 Newbury through their other amazing reviews. Having recently been diagnosed I had no idea what to do or where to go once I began to lose my hair. Pat and the team at the salon have made what could have been a really hard process so much easier. They are kind, professional and incredibly knowledgable. Pat helped us pick out the right wig, took photos of my hair to match the color, and when it started to fall out they helped me cut it off and fit/cut the new wig to make it perfect for me.
The whole process was done in a private space and everyone was so kind and thoughtful towards us making every step of the process so much easier during a challenging time. I couldn't recommend them more highly to anyone going through treatment, I can't imagine what we would have done otherwise and we are so grateful to them.

Magdalene did an EXCELLENT job with my hair. I went in December to donate my hair and it was my first "short" haircut of my life. I think I ended up cutting about 10" or so off, but she made sure I was comfortable, engaged me in polite conversation and told me what she was doing the whole time. I think that was really important because I am quite attached to my hair, so it was great to have someone as kind and skilled for such a big cut.
On top of that, she absolutely knocked it out of the park. A nice fresh bob that has grown out to a lovely lob without any issues. : The salon was conveniently located, clean, and all of the staff that I interacted with were very helpful and friendly. The prices are reasonable for Boston and Back Bay in general, and definitely worth it for the experience and the quality of the cut that you get. If I ever donate my hair again I will certainly be coming here, and I may even continue going just for trims because I enjoyed it so much.

I'd like to start by saying that this salon is very good with covid precautions and I really appreciated the level of safety they had. The staff is also friendly and helpful, and the place is clean and nice. However, I was very disappointed with my experience at this salon today :(. First, the stylist I had brushed my wet hair with a bristle brush root to tip, and she brushed it so hard that at some point I could hear my hair physically breaking.
I have bad social anxiety so it's very hard for me to speak up about these things, and all I could do was close my eyes and pretend that this wasn't happening. I also asked for long tapered bangs, and they honestly don't look that bad, but they do look like they were just cut straight across and look a bit blunt and awkward. Secondly, I didn't notice until I got home but the cut is very very uneven. for some reason I didn't notice in the salon how bad it really was, and I asked my bf to tell me if it looked uneven from the back as well and he said yes.
The pictures below show just how noticeable it is. I am just very saddened by my experience as I really wanted to like this salon, and was very excited for my haircut. I paid $110 for my cut and I just don't feel it was worth it :(. I will admit I should've worked up the courage to communicate more and express my discomfort, so I apologize about that. But I just don't understand what happened here.

Salon at 10 Newbury provides an amazing service! My sister is going through chemotherapy. We tried buying a wig online, but it just wasn't natural looking. Pat and her team help us find the perfect wig, which they also colored and cut beautifully. They were professional and kind throughout the whole process and made sure my sister was completely satisfied with her wig. Her nurse at Dana Farber even told her it's the best wig she's ever seen! Cancer really sucks, but Pat and her team made this part a lot easier. Thank you!

I am very impressed with The Salon at 10 Newbury and with the owner Pat Wrixon in particular. She specializes in caring for patients who are loosing their hair due to chemotherapy and other ailments. I found her website on the internet by chance as I was trying to come to terms with having cancer and initiating treatments that would surely result in hair loss.
I made an appointment for the next day and was welcomed into a very COVID safe environment, a private consult room where I met Pat. She look a long time with me, trying on different hair pieces and wigs to figure out what would work best. I have a large head and have trouble fitting hats so I was worried that a wig would never work. I ordered a wig and returned just a few days later for a fitting.
While the wig was lovely and I tried it for a few days, it wasn't quite right nor comfortable. I was discouraged, but Pat persevered and called me to come back in. She had an extra large wig for me to try on. It was perfect! She took back the first wig and I left with a newly styled perfect hair piece (no charge for any return visits). I would have felt very self- conscious in another salon because my hair was actively falling out while I was there but to Pat this is normal and she made me feel comfortable. I hope that everyone who is facing chemo considers going to the Salon at 10 Newbury. There are not a lot of people or places that understand hair loss like Pat does Beryl

I have been getting wigs and hairpieces from 10 Newbury Salon for many years and have always been satisfied with the process and product. This time I have been over the top happy and excited to get a piece that was custom made by Pat She was able through Zoom to figure out the dimensions, the color and size of the hairpiece I was asking for. It was not an easy task but she proved to do her magic to my satisfaction.

The Salon @ 10 Newbury is the BEST of the BEST. My sister is going through chemo and got a gorgeous wig from Salon 10. Pat and her team were amazing from the very first phone call. Pat helped my sister find the perfect wig that looks exactly like her own hair. When she began losing it we went back for them to shave her head and fit and cut the wig to perfection!
They are so empathetic and kind during the most difficult time in my sisters life. She now has a beautiful wig (that noone would ever know is a wig) and a sense of normalcy back. I highly recommend Salon 10 and so grateful we found them.

If you're thinking about visiting this salon, don't sleep on it! The service was amazing and they went above and beyond. I had Kristine as my stylist and she was so amazing to me. I can't thank her enough! I take COVID precautions very seriously and was skeptical about going to a salon in the middle of a pandemic but upon arrival I felt entirely safe at this salon!
They took all precautions to keep me and their staff protected. I have thinning hair and they really paid attention to detail to ensure I got the service I needed. In addition to that they were very respectful and discreet when discussing my hair issues. I couldn't have picked a better salon for this reason.

I'm obsessed! I'm not from Boston so I'm was skeptical about if I should just wait til I was back in my hometown to get a haircut but the reviews for this salon were amazing so I was convinced to check it out. In terms of COVID precautions, you have to call once you arrive to state you are there for your appointment. I was let up and settled in quickly, and with such friendly front desk staff to greet me. Kristine M. was my stylist, and we started off the appointment with a conversation about what I wanted before heading to wash my hair.
She was incredibly attentive in gauging what I was looking for, and the conversation the entire time felt incredibly genuine. I left happy and feeling so great about the whole experience. I can't wait to come back! On top of that, the salon is well versed in hair treatments, hair replacement, and scalp care. Such a sweet salon. Be sure to book with them!

First time client; got a cut and color by Agi today. Can't recommend enough! She did such an amazing job achieving exactly what I wanted. She was very friendly and conversational which was lovely, as I had a bit of anxiety about finding a new salon in the city. The salon was very clean, well lit, and nicely laid out. The assistant who washed my hair did a great job as well!
They offered coffee and water when I arrived. I hadn't done anything with my hair in over a year, so I was a little nervous, but I can't stress enough how pleased I was with my appointment with Agi!

I went in for a hair cut this morning and left SO HAPPY! Agi cut it exactly how i imagined it! She was so welcoming and and a great conversationalist (which i love because i love meeting new people and chatting). The salon is very clean, the products they used smell amazing, and the place has great natural light coming in. Everyone from the other stylists working to the women at the front desk were very nice. I can't wait to go back!

I wanted to get recent highlights corrected (Magdaline) after they did not do what they said they would and offered to reimburse me instead of correcting the mistake. I have never had this happen as it was beyond offensive. I am in the midst of supporting my daughter through chemo! I needed this done between hospitalizations. I guess they do not value their customers enough to want to perform a satisfactory job.
This was a simple task and I have had the same honey caramel highlights for over 14 years. Every salon has done this correctly the first time around. I wont be going back there again.

I called yesterday to see if they had any same day availability, and lucky for me, they did! Everyone is lovely, they really make sure you're taken care of here, I was offered tea/coffee/water as soon as I walked in. I sat down with Janet, and she did a great job of finding a cut that made sense for me. After the cut, she did a rough dry, and I felt like it wasn't just quite right, and she waited very patiently with me as I decided to take another half inch off. At the end, she showed me how to style it really effortlessly. Janet is an absolute angel, I'd totally recommend her to anyone!

I was introduced to Salon at 10 before beginning chemotherapy for cancer treatment. In addition to being a regular salon, Salon at 10 also has a sister non-profit called Wigs for Well Being, founded by the Salon's owner, Pat. Wigs for Well Being helps cancer patients and others experiencing hair loss free of charge, and all of the same stylists who work at Salon at 10 also help with Wigs for Well Being. Wigs for Well Being is located on the same floor as Salon at 10 but in a private location. Losing my hair was one of the biggest concerns I had before starting chemotherapy, and I was so happy to find Wigs for Well Being. Pat the owner and all of the other stylists are so kind and understanding and want to ensure that you look and feel your best during chemo treatment.
They helped me choose and order a wig (you pay for your own wig but all of the styling is complimentary) and then when I received it they styled it for me and taught me how to wear, style, and wash it on my own. Several times throughout my 6 months of chemotherapy treatment I went back to the salon and asked them to restyle my wig so I could feel most comfortable and look most like me while wearing it.
I worked with several stylists who were all really wonderful and kind. Last week I went in for my first haircut since completing chemo (you even get 50% off your first haircut after working with Wigs for Well Being) which was also great. Prior to my experience with Wigs for Well Being I had frequented another great Newbury Street Salon for years, but now I'm definitely switching to Salon at 10 because of their mission and generosity!

I've been going to Hussein for a few years now. I can say that he's truly talented at what he does and is the only one I trust with my hair. He knows my style and always has a suggestion if I want to try something new. I'm also glad about the fact that he works at Salon at 10 Newbury now because it's a convenient location, pleasant stuff and great service overall!

I've been coming here about once a year for the past several years for a haircut, and on occasion for my hair to be dyed. I don't think it's worth the money. I have worked with 2 stylists over the years, both never really listened to what I asked them for, they just did what THEY thought was best. Every time I am charged for a "curly cut" even when I say I don't want one.
The "curly cut" is more expensive that a "regular" hair cut. I have no idea why. Probably because they load my hair up with 3-4 different products into a greasy mess without every asking what I prefer. Charging people with curly hair more for a hair cut - I find this to be predatory and discriminatory against those with curly hair. ESPECIALLY when the "curly cuts" are unsatisfactory, to say the least.
My last visit I paid (with tip) $200 for a wonky haircut I didn't really ask for that I also had to cut myself when I got home to make it look presentable, and for a boring hair dye and color I also didn't ask for that I easily could have done at home myself with a box dye. I voiced my disappointment with the color and was told they could take 20% off my NEXT visit. That's not good enough for me with no guarantee I will be listened to and get what I want.

Meh. I decided to try a salon close to work and this place had next day availability with Lindsey. Upon walking in, I was promptly asked if I wanted a drink or cookie and guided to the waiting area. This place is like Westworld and everyone is a Host. On the mark of my appointment start, I saw Lindsey walk to the computer to look at the schedule and make her way over to the waiting area. Punctual.
In my consultation I told her I wanted a lob (long bob), but not too dramatic, somewhere around shoulder length. I've had this style haircut before and knew I liked it. She showed me where I could "change" (AKA take off the blazer and put on this robe) and then my hair was washed by someone else. I felt like Lindsey was super confident in what I wanted, but as she was cutting I felt a little worried.
She told me after that she had thinned my hair (code for made it extra poofy). And I think at the end she forgot about the bob part when she chopped off the front layers of my hair. And yes, I mean chopped. The cut is super blunt and looks ridiculous if I straighten it. Honestly, I feel like a child. This feeling was made worse when an airline worker asked if I was old enough to sit in an emergency row (I am, by 10 years). The salon is clean and respectful, but also very formal. Plus one star for online booking and next day availability.

From start to finish the staff were amazing. I'm a huge fan of the staff here and that they offer assistance to women in need of hair replacement pieces due to medical reasons is even more of a good reason to support this salon. They are one of a kind and amazing all around! They were able to fix a cut and match my hair color to the exact color and highlights that naturally could be seen from the roots. Grateful I found this place!
