I had an amazing experience here! I came in to get a few inches chopped off, and Jose helped me find the perfect length and style. It was $75 for a wash, cut, and style, which was definitely worth it. They also helped me figure out the best way to style my hair - I had no idea my hair was so naturally curly! Fantastic experience all around! I loooved my cut with Pax. Not only is it exactly what I was looking for, but she was awesome to talk to, extremely knowledgeable and capable, and even gave the best scalp massage ever while washing my hair! Really really glad to have found my salon and stylist in Seattle. The salon is a touch on the pricier side, but after years of going for cheaper cuts, I'm all about Aveda salons, and the experience at Gary Manuel was well worth the cost.

I took my daughter for a consult in November. She has long straight dark hair and she wanted something like the photo below, which we showed - to the stylist. She explained that it would take two double-processing sessions several weeks apart at $220/per and that it probably wouldn't be as light as in the photos, which we were okay with. She said that she didn't have any availability for our time frame, but that she would communicate the details to whomever performed the service.

After the first appointment her hair was what we expected - something in between. The other photo below is after her second appointment. In person the bottom is a dark greyish brown, not approaching white or platinum. I called the salon and eventually spoke to Maya, a manager. While she was apologetic, she mostly kept reiterating the details and issues with double processing, e.g. that you never know how many sessions it might take, etc.

I explained that the point was that it was never mentioned that it might take more than two sessions; had that been the case I wouldn't have gone forward. Including product, tax and tip I spent $600. Maya did offer a free conditioning treatment, but that's it.

I got my hair done by Amanda Fischer and she was phenomenal! :) Super pleased with the way my hair's looking. She was ever so kind and I had the best time chatting with her:) Definitely going back!:)

I went in for the first time today and got a cut by Crystal. The environment was relaxing and the salon was very clean and inviting. She made great conversation and was really laid back, she was personable but also professional. You can tell she's experienced at what she does. I walked out feeling great about my hair! The price was very reasonable for the magic she worked on me. 10/10 rating, I will be going here again as soon as my hair is ready for a refresh. Thank you Crystal for the great experience!

James (girl) did my baby highlights and did a FANTASTIC job! She was friendly, professional, and understood exactly what I wanted. Would highly recommend her!

I wanted to thank my stylist, Johnny T. for my haircut. After I decided to take off 10+ inches for Locks of Love, I was given an appointment quickly. All staff knew and practiced safety guidelines. Johnny consulted with me in the chair until we were quite sure of what I wanted. We went through a very relaxing big chop, shampoo, and conditioning. I felt I was in good hands throughout each step and that I had left with a better understanding of hair care and strategies for volume on special occasions. Johnny is a stylist who goes above and beyond!

I have been a client for over two years and have been impressed by their level of service. Olesya Vasilchuk is my stylist and she is brilliant. She gives good haircut suggestions and does not need up-to-the-inch specifications unlike stylists at some other salons I've been to. I measure a person's expertise at a job by trying to imagine how easy or difficult it would be for a robot to replace that person in the near future.

Hair cutting robots won't be able to replace Olesya because she really brings her experience and intuition into the job instead of just expecting the client to tell her every little thing. She pays a lot of attention to details and had once even scheduled an extra 15 minutes to teach me better blow drying skills. Even her product suggestions have worked out well and she never tries to force a product on me.

She also used to give me a light hand massage after rinsing my hair during the pre-COVID era. Currently they are following several important steps to make things safer for both clients and stylists. Their overall quality of service is fantastic. My suggestion would be to keep sufficient gaps between clients since at times I've had to wait for 15-20 minutes past the appointment time. Another suggestion would be to text/e-mail iCal invites for reservations such that it's easy for clients to add them to their calendars.

The hair stylist rushed the entire processes. She gave me halo highlights instead of a full head like I asked, did not tone my hair enough so it was orange. They did not set the correct expectations for my request then asked me if it was okay to let me leave with unstyled wet hair, which they did. They charged me the same after all of that and let me leave looking like I stuck my finger in a socket. Front desk was rude when I followed up about it and reluctantly offered me a complementary service after nearly arguing with me for a while but I won't be going back.

I was not very happy with my haircut. Unfortunately, I don't remember my hair stylist's name. I made an appointment here the day before for a quick woman's haircut during August. The stylist washed my hair, which took 15 minutes. I told her I wanted about an inch and a half off and just a straight cut (no layers, very simple), and she started to trim my hair.

This took 10 minutes in total. Then, she told me she was going to "fix my bangs, " which I understood as trimming a few unruly strands of hair so they would lie nicely with my bangs. I wasn't paying much attention at this point (was a bit sleepy). Then, she spent the rest of the appointment (30 minutes) blowdrying my hair, which I found quite unnecessary. Anyway, I'm giving this place one star because I get home and discover that the stylist gave me TWICE the volume of bangs as I had before.

This is definitely NOT what I wanted or asked for. I had gone in with nice, wispy bangs and come out with a thick tuft of hair covering my forehead. I got this haircut in August and I am still trying to fix my bangs--the unnecessary bang will need about a year to grow out, and my hair is pretty short! I still have a lot of regret regarding this haircut. Pro tip: if you are Asian and want wispy bangs, go to an Asian hair stylist.

I've been having my hair done at the Gary Manuel studio in SLU for over two years and LOVE it. My stylist, Envy, is upbeat, genuine, and makes personalized recommendations for a new cut, color, or product when asked. The salon is conveniently located on Westlake Avenue, in the heart of the Amazon campus, making it convenient to pop in for a color touch up, hair treatment, or refill on a product.

The staff is always welcoming and friendly each time I come in for an appointment. They offer me a robe to put over my clothes (to avoid any color mishaps), as well as my choice of coffee, tea, or infused water. Get the tea. It is absolutely delicious and unlike any tea I've ever tried before. Perfect to help relax you while your stylist gets to work on your hair. Prices are also decent and transparent, I usually get a cut, color process (1 or 2 depending on the season) and it's ~$130 (pre tip and sans products). Highly recommend, they have a lot of different stylists here so you can be confident you'll find someone that's perfect for you.

Jonny Talmadge was fabulous. He made the experience what it was. He not only did a fantastic job on my balayage, but he was knowledgeable, professional, super genuine and someone you just wanted to be around. Not to mention his style was ON POINT. Ok Moving on, the rest of the staff I interacted with also followed suit. The salon was really nice, hospitable and immaculately clean. I'd def come back for another service and you can't beat the prices. I highly recommend.

Just moved to Seattle and a hairstylist friend recommended I go to Gary Manuel to see Lindsey. The best haircut I've ever had. And she's lovely, as is the rest of the staff. An incredible, friendly, professional, fantastic experience. Thank you GMS!

I've been coming to Gary Manuel for years and their service is consistently high quality and reasonably priced. The stylists are very professional and always do a great job. The only downside is that because the stylists are training here, I'll often be told the person I saw for the past few appts has moved on. Edit to add: I think the owner response was intended for someone else?

3 days into my new cut and I'm loving it, I would say one of my top favorite haircuts! New to Seattle and needing a haircut badly I made a spur of the moment decision to pop in and make an appointment with any stylist the following day. Caitlin Murphy was my stylist and she knocked it out of the park! I will be back for sure! The only thing I was slightly confused about was when I arrived they had me fill out a card and I marked a couple of additional services such as a hand massage that they never did. Other than that I am happy with my decision to give this new place a try.

I've been eyeing this salon for a year now as I pass by it every day when I head to work. The first time I decided to get my haircut in Seattle I looked up Gary Manuel Studio on Yelp and I focused on the 1 star reviews where the customers had a really terrible experience here. These very few customers dissuaded me from coming here so I went to a salon in Belltown (which was a great experience).

The 2nd time I needed a haircut I really wanted to give this salon a try since it's so close to my apartment and I was in dire need of a haircut, versus waiting 3 weeks for my appointment in Belltown. I decided to go all in despite the few negative reviews and had my first appointment within 3 days of requesting it through email. This morning I met with my stylist - Olesya.

She is kind, attentive, and very customer-centric. Got a great shampoo/conditioner massage and she cut my hair how I wanted it after I showed her a bunch of pictures of the look I was going for. She also advised me on how it should be cut as I wasn't too sure how to achieve the looks in the photos I showed her. Towards the end she asked if I wanted to do a layer in the front which wasn't in my consideration set and told her it was her call.

She did it and I'm so glad she suggested it. At the end of my session she gave me a hand/arm massage. I definitely felt like I was treated like a VIP. I would highly recommend anyone who is unsure coming here because of the few negative reviews. Ask for Olesya - you'll be in good hands. The service came to be $60 total. I thought it was $40 for a women's haircut per the website but unsure if it's because I have thick hair that it was a bit more expensive. I'd recommend the salon to update their pricing for transparency.

Gary Manuel is a great place for a cut! I used their website to arrange a locks of love donation cut which is actually complimentary. I showed up, filled out a LOL donation form and the salon took care of the rest (packaging and shipping my hair out)! Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Of course, I have to give GM major props for doing a complimentary cut--super generous and a great way to give back. Thanks!

We have once again had an AMAZING experience at this salon! First with Jackson and then with Crystal, our daughter leaves feeling like a starlet. She's donated her hair here too- to Locks of Love, and the cut is complementary when you do- and it's such a great experience (be sure to tip!) Well come back again and again. Tips- parking is easy and free on Sundays, great breakfast places nearby, and nice and mellow for kids too!

Hair appointment was cancelled 2 minutes before appointment time without a reason provided. If a cancellation was necessary, she should've let me know a couple hours before hand at least, not two minutes before. ------------- I was called in by Markayla to be a hair model and after confirming the appointment, I came 5 minutes before time and she emailed me two minutes before the appointment time that she had to cancel without providing a reason.

I had to take a 50 minute bus ride to get to the studio and now I'm going to go back and waste another 50 minutes to get back without a cut. Pretty disappointed at how things were managed. If a cancellation was necessary it would've been nice to provide a notice a couple hours before

They charge the same $$$ prices as downtown, but with students just out of school. After having a terrible haircut there in the past - a bob, nothing fancy - I avoided them. This weekend I was desperate, and took an appt with someone who had "10 years experience". Thanks to all the construction around SLU, I was 15 min late for my appt, only to find out that he'd gone home.

No call from the salon, no check to see if I was on my way. Just, too bad, come back another time. The salon says its mission is "Making people feel good about themselves in an atmosphere of innovation and excellence." Pure bullsh*t. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Was very excited to get a great haircut and color BUT both were average. Color lasted less than 2 weeks. It was clear they don't have much color experience with men's hair. Glad to be back in nYC and back to world class AND reasonably priced hair salons
