Urbaca Salon

I came in two weeks before my wedding for a trim. Antonio was wonderful! He discussed my hair with me, we talked about what styles were possible with my texture and length, and he gave me some tips on how to add volume for the big day. He told me that as a stylist, he much preferred to cut/color wedding hair closer to 3 months before the date, as opposed to 2 weeks (totally understandable!) But was not at all judgemental, which was a lovely respite from all the planning stress.

Some stylists will blindly agree with anything you suggest, and some will disregard whatever you say and just cut your hair as they see fit. Antonio was a perfect balance, he listened to me, and offered realistic and valuable advice, based on his extensive experience.

Love my salon! Charliegh is such an integral part of my self care and I love their exciting spirit! (Also my red hair is magic!) The space is open and airy and even on a typical grey Porland day, its bright and beautiful. The rest of the staff is very caring and friendly. They offer so many services-even jewelry! Go here, get fierce!

Charlie (I should have asked for the spelling and pronouns) is absolutely, without a doubt, awesome! I was super nervous, as I am a mother of a crazy 2 year old plus I don't get my hair done professionally that often and he made me feel more than welcome. I have never been to a stylist who is so warm and inviting! Most of the time I feel judged for how little I get my hair done.

But this experience was beyond what I needed. He was proficient and informative without being a know-it-all, which is more than I could of asked for. He gave me great tv show and podcast recommendations! Asked how my life was going, and kept the time flowing. He charged me regular price even though I know my hair was a full transformation and gave me product recommendations for my type of hair (which I have been on the hunt for). Honestly I don't take the time out of my day to give a review and here I am giving you reason after reason to give not only this salon but this hairdresser your time of day. Amazing!

ANTONIO is a god sent! He's super fun to chat around with and had some fun stories to share while he did my hair! He made me feel comfortable and I was EXTREMELY happy with the results of my hair! I even got a cute pair of earrings for the ride home! The whole esthetic of the hair salon was beautiful too! The reception was great and everyone was so friendly! The stylists are are friendly & *very* skilled. (They have to do an apprenticeship before they are hired for real). Charleigh (they/them) in particular is great for color & cut, as well as eyebrow shaping. It has a very upscale feel, and they aren't cheap, but their prices aren't as high as you'd expect (& nowhere near as expensive as high-priced, worse, places).

There idea of a bailage hair color is full high lights with soft roots. Which just looks like a bad dyed job with a horrible shade of yellow. One of the main reasons that I pay to get my hair colored is to have a professional bleach job done so I do not end up with that horrible shade of yellow. When I said cut a lot of texture and layers into my hair, the stylist took it as just trim my hair a bit.

The hair comes with a guarantee and if you go here you will end up using it. Which unfortunately going back a second time does not improve the hair at all and all you get is a rude stylist and the feeling of throwing away $268.00

I was visiting Portland and needed a haircut. Urbaca was very accomodating and fit me in the same day. Eve who answered my call was pleasant. They took all the precautions for COVID - right from temp checks to sanitization. I felt very safe during my visit. Adam was my hairstylist and he gave me a very good cut and made me feel very comfortable. He was friendly and professional and gave me the cut that I had asked for.

It is hard when you are not seeing your regular stylist and you are in a new city and don't know if the stylist will understand what you are looking for. I have had my share of bad cuts so was skeptical but Adam was fantastic. Highly recommended. The place was clean and hygienic and the plants there were so soothing. If I ever were in Portland again and need a cut I would definitely go back to Urbaca

Love my hair! I booked a same day appointment for a cut and color which I normally haven't been able to do since my hair is about 2 ft long/hits just above the bum. I was a little hesitant since most places that are good are booked at least for a month. I initially wanted a balayage but due to my bleached ends my stylist gave his educated opinion of not going through with it.

I was a little disappointed but throughout the whole process he was very communicative as we switched from my initial color wants to a different one (my natural color not balayage). Overall great experience and even though COVID restrictions have been lifted they still kept their place very clean and had you wash your hands before entering + stylists wore masks! Also my stylist was Adam 10/10

I had an amazing experience at Urbaca Salon today. I flew in for a wedding this weekend and needed a last minute haircut. They were able to fit me in even after my flight was delayed. Charleigh did an amazing job during turning my hot mess new mom hair into something beautiful. I had so much fun talking to Charleigh. Wish they were a stylist back in my hometown. I would highly recommend checking them out!

Antonio is the best! If you want a great cut and color especially if you're a blonde this is the place for you. I was definitely a salon hopper before and I have not gone anywhere else for the last three years. Every time I leave there I am extremely happy with the work that he does and my hair looks amazing! Highly recommend going to Urbaca and seeing Antonio you won't be disappointed

I've been going to Urbaca for years and I can't recommend enough. Every haircut from Charleigh has been the best hair cut I've ever had. The front desk is kind and caring, they make the space so welcoming! There's also lots of plants around the salon, which makes the space even more comfortable. I've also been very impressed with their safety precautions after phase one reopening during the pandemic. Everyone is clearly working very hard to keep customers and stylists safe! Keep up the great work, y'all!

Beautiful salon that has established great protocols to ensure safety during COVID for its customers. Antonio always does consistent and amazing work! I always make sure to see him when I'm in town - highly recommend.

After writing about my experience, I was contacted by the owner Daria. She wanted to fix whatever happened and asked me to come in. She is a goldwell color trainer. She went above and beyond to make it right and was so kind and gracious. She did not want me to pay for the service and just wanted to make sure my hair looked great and I was happy. I appreciate her so much and she is just an amazing woman. I definitely recommend her and her business!

I love getting my hair done here. I go to Bryony and Daria and both are great. My hair before Urbaca had lots of issues. And now it is healthy and actually glowing. We are experimenting with color and I am so so happy. Thank you to the entire Urbaca staff - everyone is kind, willing to serve, and just fun to be around as well! The whole family goes here - well, except my bald husband. If he had hair, he would go here too!

Apparently, when you heard her being critical of the horrible manner in which your salon spoke to me, you go so far as to deny she was your client AT ALL. Sorry Kristi. I absolutely love my stylist, Charleigh! This color stays in forEVER; reds usually fade, but this does not. I get so many complements on my beautiful hair, even when I'm a week overdue for a refresher. Fantastic!

I have nothing but great things to say about this company. They helped me out of a jam in October when I found out 3 weeks before my wedding that the other spa I had originally booked forgot to put the bride on the reservation list and had no one available to do my hair. Urbaca, and especially Charleigh, were able to get me and my bridal party in and gave me the perfect look. I can not say enough good things about this salon. They have since treated me awesomely and have gone above and beyond what any other salon would ever do. Thank you!

Morgan did such a great job on my hair. I live in Memphis Tn. & was in Portland for business. I desperately needed my hair highlighted because I was leaving Portland & flying to Atlanta for my son's wedding. I had too many things come up before my trip & didn't have time to get my hair done. I appreciate Urbaca working me in so quickly & for referring Morgan to me.

I have thick hair & get concerned about anyone I don't know working on it. Morgan did an excellent job! She is very knowledgeable, professional & personable. I was very impressed with her! She did an amazing job on my hair. I had so many compliments on my hair at the wedding. The color was perfect & she spent so much time blowing drying, styling it. I loved how she styled it! I definitely recommend Morgan if you are needing Color, cut & style! She is awesome!

I was a walk-in today and they were able to get me right in for a haircut with Antonio. I will have to say it's one of the beat hair cuts and styles I have had in a long time! I had several people stop me on the street and in a couple stores commenting on my hair. Update: Another great haircut by Antonio!

Moved from San Francisco with a fairly complicated color and cut so I was anxious about finding a new stylist. Thankfully, I was introduced to Antonio! He is a gem, loves his work, and isn't too humble to ask for guidance from others. He did a great job with the ombre from dark red to blond, plus a precise cut. (Only reason this isn't a 5 star review is that his dye work could be a little cleaner as I tend to go home with stained ears.) Overall, Urbaca is a chill atmosphere with a multitude of friendly professionals. They even had free Bailey's during the Christmas season! I'm a fan!

I went with this salon based on reviews and the feel that I got when I called them to talk about my hair goals. They are a truly warm, genuine, ,d own to earth and very talented salon which is extremely rare to find! I couldn't be happier with the results. I requested Antonio because I wanted a cut and style similar to the photos posted of his work (I went on their Facebook page to get a better idea of my options).

He gave me a mid length layered/textured and a lot of volume. It looks amazing when waves are put into it. He also put in two shades of blonde-one light neutral sand blonde and the other a low light blonde also neutral. It's the perfect amount of dimension and perfect tone and shade of blondes-not too warm or cool. I have been to at least 10 different high end salons in the Portland area but I will be sticking with Antonio and Urbaca.

Everyone at Urbaca is really friendly and helpful. I love having my hair styled by Charles! They are thoughtful and easy-going and they always create exactly what I ask for. Seriously lovely person!

And years later Urbaca is still the best. I wouldn't go anywhere else in town. Daria is the color master!

Urbaca is literally the only salon I have ever felt happy in. And if you go to Urbaca you can be assured that anyone you see here is a professional who knows what they are doing. Also, the salon maintains a balance between being sophisticated and a comforting retreat. I recently started working with Bryony and she is a gem. She is technically skilled and fearless.

When I first came in I had color that needed to be fixed and I wasn't sure it could be. I did a color consult before the appointment first. We came up with a plan, she did her magic, and now I am happy with my color and our ongoing maintenance plan. Bryony is also just a really fun and down to earth person and she specializes in a variety of services.

Antonio is the man to see! Ahhhhhhhhh my hair cut was so perfect and he kills it at Styling. My blowout was incredible. I felt like a whole new person. He's so talented and you won't be sorry if you book an appointment with him I'll 100% be back

She started off as someone who puts up with all my crazy hair request and has truly become family to me. She's not only a beautiful person but she is AMAZING at what she does. She takes me, my mom and my sister and gets us in and out and looking beautiful. Urbaca in general is such a great place.

From the convenience of the location, wonderful staff and the warm atmosphere, it's a place you can't pass up. Everyone makes me feel like I'm apart of the family AND they have so many services available you can get everything done in one day.

Heather Greene is amazing! I just moved to Portland from Milwaukee (Wisconsin) and as a girl who has incredibly thick, long hair, finding a hair stylist can be really challenging. I found Heather through her awesome Instagram, and was sold right a way. Not only is she an amazing hair stylist, she is such a wonderful person (and you gotta love the person you are spending multiple hours with), I felt like I had known her my whole life, just catching up with a friend. She made the whole experience very enjoyable, fun and laid back. I can't wait to see her in a few weeks for a touch up. Thank you so much Heather! :
