Born and educated in Connecticut, Barbara has worked as a hair stylist since 1972. She chose the independence of working instead of art school, which her teachers and parents suggested. She lived and worked in Maine for several years before opening Artful Designs Hair Care in 1984. The original plan was a hair salon and art gallery. That was before she found out she was going to be a mother.
After 25 years, she is thrilled now to be painting one day a week and hanging her work in her salon. Oil painting is her preferred medium for representational art. She is currently studying on her own and is excited to see how her skills develop over time.

You cannot go wrong with Barbara doing your hair styling. I am 62 and I have medium-length hair, but Barbara keeps up with all the latest styles, techniques, and products, so she can serve customers of all ages - kids, teens, young adults, and all the rest of us. Barbara has cut, colored, and permed my hair and she has done a wonderful job each time.
Her salon is cheerful and comfortable and her prices are very reasonable. Barbara is an interesting person with many interests, including art, and her oil paintings are on display throughout her cheerful and comfortable salon.

I have worked with Barbara and she keeps up with all the newest styles, new products,and takes pride in her work. She has been in business for thirty plus years and has now bloomed in showing her artistic abilities in showings in Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor and has paintings now at th MDI Hospital. I believe you will be happy with her performance as a hairdresser and knowledge of product.
