I've been natural since 1999. For three weeks I've been contemplating about putting a relaxer in my hair for this style that I wanted. Several beauticians said I needed a relaxer for that cut. I called and made an appointment with Mrs. Dee. Still going back and forth with myself about getting a relaxer. When I arrived Mrs. Dee asked me why did I want to put chemicals in my hair after all these years. I AM ONE HAPPY CUSTOMER. I got the cut & style that I wanted and I'm still relaxer free.

I love this salon, 2nd time getting my hair done here and i was truly satisfied! Christian environment which is a plus for me, can't deal with busybodies, affordable, the Stylist are very professional, know all about hair care and have blessed hands! Yaaasssss, they slay all day! No more Hair cuttery for me! Thank you "Lady D", and "Ms. Tray" for making my hair look fabulous!

I arrived at Utopia and was instantly greeted at the door, three minutes later I am sitting in Shakia's chair. She asked about my previous relaxer experience. I explained to her how I can barely keep one in for five minutes. She was so attentive and based my scalp well. She used a relaxer for sensitive scalps and for the first time I kept a relaxer in for more than five minutes.
She never left my side during the process. I received a relaxer, deep conditioning (included no extra charge), hair cut and a few tracks added. I left looking fabulous and felt valued and important. I was offered beverages and the owner greeted me. Needless to say I was very pleased and will be going back.

STAY AWAY! STAY FAR FAR AWAY! Here is a brief summary of the nonsense and lack of service that takes place in this salon. 1. They talk about their clients (with other clients) 2. The staff talk about each other 3. They make you wait over an hour, then once you get in the chair you wait 30 more minutes 4. Will leave product in your hair, then go and work on someone else 5.
Will LIE and say they are using a particular product, when they are using something totally different 6. I've known people who's hair have broken off after going here.luckily I made it out before this happened to me 7. They talk on the phone while doing a client's hair If I could select no stars or a negative number, I would.

If you are ever in the area of Stafford, VA and in need of a hair appointment, I would recommend paying Utopia Hair Salon a visit. This was my first visit to Utopia Hair Salon and it won't be my last time visiting this salon. My hair was prepped and done by three stylists that day. All three stylists were very pleasant and knowledgeable about hair treatment and styling. The price of the hair services I received were very reasonable.

The stylist, Michelle, is great, but many of the other employees leave something to be desired. It's a bit of an unprofessional atmosphere (people constantly on their phones, kids running around, etc.). There's also a long wait sometimes. I'd say try a better, more upscale salon.you'll pay the same price anyway.
