I have pretty straight, potentially frizzy, blonde hair (blonde only thanks to CAROLINE TOLENTINO's terrific mastery of hair color). She listens to your wishes and then helps define your options to get the best result. I came to her fairly "washed out" and she gave me color that works. I couldn't be happier. Plus the 2 haircuts I've had have been spot on with the layers I requested.

She shared helpful blow dry styling techniques and products that eliminated the frizzy hair. Honestly, it's a win win to get your hair cut and colored with her. Also, parking in Burlingame is only $1 all day in the public lot across el Camino. You can have lunch on Burlingame Ave and go shopping too.

Went to Catalina as a 1st timer to this salon and she did an AMAZING job of not only meeting my expectations but also elevating my haircut according to its texture. Any new client reading this can totally trust her with their hair! Additionally, she had some awesome product recommendations so would definitely recommend going to her.

I am lost without words. This review is for Caroline. I was trying to book a haircut appointment for my mother on the same day and Caroline was very accommodating. As soon as we walked in, Caroline was very welcoming. She walked us through all the steps of the cut and made sure my mom was happy. Caroline is such an expert in her field that she treats every haircuts as uniquely to the individual receiving it. And it showed! My mom's haircut is really perfect for her. (Her best one!) She made my mother feel so special and happy and for that I am beyond grateful!

They charged my girl $300.00 to mess her hair up. She was in tears. $300 bucks is way too much for what they did. Total rip off.

Best haircut I've ever had today thanks to Caroline, her passion and experience shows in her work. Her cut and style gave my fine, thin curly hair more volume than I ever thought I could have, all the while taking the time to learn about my lifestyle and teaching me techniques that I can use in my daily routine. Game changer! So much better than previous experiences (deva cuts and all). Where has this wonderful woman been my entire curly-haired life?!

Jeff, owner of UK Hair is simply fantastic! I started going to UK Hair a few years ago (the name drew me in because I too am British). I haven't been anywhere since. He really takes his time to listen, understand and recommend. Sometimes I'll just let him take the lead by giving his expert opinion and I know he'll do right by me. Sadly I'm moving to NY so I won't be frequenting his salon anymore, although I would definitely go back if I visited the Bay Area again and was in need of a color or cut. Do try. You can't go wrong!

My hair was in rough shape and needed some serious attention and Catalina did an amazing job! I absolutely love my hair. I absolutely LOVE Catalina's vibe. She is so friendly and welcoming and she can really work some wonders! I'm REALLY picky when it comes to my hair and Catalina took 1 look after I told her what I needed done and all she said was "do you trust me?" I took a chance and OMG I was so amazed! Catalina is WONDERFUL!

I've known Jeff for years and have loved watching his salon grow. Currently I go to Lisa for cut and color and she does a phenomenal job (I have very curly hair), and she's well priced. Highly recommend.

I had a haircut with Catalina. She's a lovely person and I wish her the best, but she gave me the worst haircut of my life. I knew what I wanted going in, but she convinced me to trust her, and get something more modern. I'm not sure how you can call what she gave me more modern - I think it's basically a Beatles cut, + a mullet. It's beyond ugly - I'm seriously considering just hiding in my apartment till it grows out a bit, and I can hide it in a ponytail.

From cut to color, its all bad - and I can't even tell if this is what she was aiming for or if she just doesn't know how to give haircuts. Again, nothing personal, I'm sure she did her best. I just wish her best was better.

I took my daughter for a haircut with Catalina and let me say that it was an amazing experience! I'm VERY picky when it comes to getting my daughters hair cut by anyone, she has very thick and long hair. Without me having to say anything Catalina already knew what to do with my daughters hair! She took her time and made sure it was perfect. I am very happy with the service and will continue to take my daughter for her hair needs. Thanks Catalina!

I have been coming to UK Hair for the past 6 years to see Olivia, she is the best hair stylist I've ever had! She tells you what your hair needs or doesn't need, she's very honest and I love that about her! She does excellent highlights and cuts I highly recommend her!

Called UK Hair to get a haircut on a whim. They were able to see me the same day and I got a beautiful haircut from Irina! Went from shoulder length boring hair, to a sassy shag! Thanks so much, I absolutely love it!

I recently went to a hair a dresser that totally messed up my hair color. So I needed to get fixed ASAP. I called UK and they were able to fit me in. I have never been there before and they scheduled me with Irina and she did a amazing job fixing my color. From being super dark to blonder again. I would definitely recommend her. The only downside to this place was that it was $$$$ I have never paid that much for a partial highlight ever.

They did not tell me that they charge for every hour you are there ( which I never knew places did that) And it was a very high price. However the place also was very spacious and felt very clean especially during this covid time.

Terrible service. Made an appointment online days before, arrived tonight and the place is closed. I'd even responded to the SMS and email confirming my appointment the day before. Ridiculous and a waste of time. What's the point? I won't be coming back.

Update to my previous post: my man went back in to have his haircut 'fixed' by Jeff. Again, came home with hair all over his face, neck inside his ears and itchy. Jeff then offered to have him come back in to 'gain his business' and so he went, and AGAIN came back with an uneven, messy haircut. Jeff even had the nerve to ask my boyfriend for my number and has been calling and harassing me to take my original post down. No, Jeff.

Maybe you should not be cutting hair or know when it's time to retire. If you call again I will be getting the police involved. You cannot Harass people because they gave you an HONEST review about your terrible ability in which you consider a skill and profession. NEVER GET YOUR HAIRCUT BY JEFF unless you want to leave messy, itchy, and bloody from him cutting you.

Hair_by_catalina Got my hair done from her and I love it! Great customer service. Very helpful, I didn't know anything about highlights and she walked me through the process.

This review is for Jeff and Irina. Jeff (owner) was amazing from the beginning. I first went to him around Thanksgiving of last year- not my usual hair place! I was unable to get an appointment at that time, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I booked Jeff on a whim, and I was long overdue for a haircut (many months overdue, people). I was so nervous- and he cut off a lot.

I was shocked first- but I realized he gave my hair style, shape, body, and a sophisticated look. I was in love! He is a wizard with the scissors. Also addresses everyone who comes in and makes every client feel tended to. Next- today, on a whim I booked an appointment for color with Irina (when I say on a whim, I mean I booked the appointment at 4 pm for 4:45 pm, same day).

She wasn't expecting me, and this was my first time with her, but she blew me away. I asked for the highlights of my balayage to be darkened, and she did a remarkable job. I am impressed every time I come here. A perfect location, on Burlingame Avenue, and fantastic, personable, professional service. If you are considering switching hair salons, need a last minute cut, or just need a good recommendation, look no further.

I just read a review about Catalina and I have to completely counter the negative review, although, fortunately or unfortunately everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have been going to Catalina at UK for about 2 years and have had many services with her, mostly color and cuts and a Keratin treatment a couple of weeks ago. My hair is not easy and I am blonde (not naturally :-)) Catalina's skills are amazing and I would strongly recommend her.

I have taken her pictures with different colors and styles and she talks thought them with you then works wonders. She is flexible with schedules and always wants to please. Go see her, you won't regret it.

Jeff is not your "fresh" or exotic hairstylist.it did not come out the way I wanted at all, not even close. -he charged $60 for a fade -Did not take my Groupon And I would not go back even if it was free It's ugly. The price he charged was not comparable to his skills. It's not worth it. Just look at the picture. The second to last photo you can see one side is half an inch and the last photo is the other side where clearly you can see it's not the same width and should be cleaned up a lot more. *I asked for skin fade*

After 6 years of living in the Bay Area, I finally found a salon and stylist who can make my very fine hair look good. Jeff is a wonderful, easy going stylist. He knows exactly how to cut hair that doesn't need a lot of product and fussing, especially since I prefer a no fuss, wash and wear haircut.

Both my wife and I have been coming to UK Hair for quite some time. Jeff cuts our hair and always does an excellent job. The establishment in not only well kept and very well organized but everyone their is so friendly and nice. We are always so pleased with our haircuts and highly recommend UK Hair.

This place is great! I would recommend Susan for haircuts and color. She has her own room in the salon. She's amazing. I can't recommend Susan enough! I decided to cut my hair short over a year ago. I would wait to go back to my hometown to get it cut again, because places around here never got it right. Susan, however, knew what I wanted better than I did. She's very good, fast, and professional. I've found my new hairstylist. Thank you Susan!

UK Hair is THE best hair salon anywhere! I've been going for years for hair cuts and hair colors and couldn't be more pleased. The shop is always clean, the stylists are friendly and up-to-date - and they respect each other. My hair stylist is Jeff Silverman, who is also the owner, and it's obvious that he runs a top-notch shop. The receptionists on duty at the desk are exceptional under his training. I am very happy and satisfied!

I love UK Hair's friendly atmosphere and dedication to customer service. I've received consistently excellent hair cuts and color from Irena. She always listens to what I want, talks patiently through the options, and works hard both to set and deliver on expectations. It's also clear that Jeff, the owner, really cares about his customers and staff. I wish more businesses operated like U.K. Hair.

Wow! We were in the area and my friend insisted I get my makeup done, I have no idea how much it costs, she paid for everything! I walked in looking confused since it was a hair place, I thought I walked into the wrong place. A guy named Stephen greeted me half way in and asked if I wanted a drink. I asked for a hot green tea. He sat me down and proceeded to do my foundation.

Then he asked me a question I had no idea how to answer. what colors do you want? I told him I don't know. He said "your friend said you wouldn't. but I'm going to do neutral" suuuuure. whatever. He was very chatty. talked about everything. I've never had a guy done my makeup but he did real good. Except when I told him when he was putting on eyeliner on my bottom lid, it'll make me tear up and it did. He fixed it up and made me pretty!

I understand we live in a digital world and texting is the new norm, but not according to my preference and good business practices. Especially for bookings at a salon. I'm looking for a stylist, so I booked a cut and style online with Michelle through Groupon. I called and left a message on her voicemail. It took a couple for her to get back to me, and when she did she text me.

I responded back via phone and left a message again specifying my preference to speak with her via phone. Michelle may be an excellent stylist, I'll never know because I cancelled and received a refund from Groupon; however, I'm a business person who believes strongly in customer service and experience. If I ask to speak with you via phone for a booking, and you continue to text me like a teenager avoiding conflict, not good business.

If I'm willing to continue working with you and you defend your actions by justifying them, not good business. Michelle's argument was to text me again and state how "her people prefer to be text." So what's the response to my specific request to be contacted via phone? An apology saying "Im sorry your having a bad day." via text. What salon doesn't have a front desk receptionist to book appointments?

Your first engagement with a customer online or off should be personalized and authentic. This is bad. I need to speak with a person when visiting a new stylist for the first time. If I ask you to call me, and you ignore my simple request as well as make excuses as to why you will not honor me a phone call. Not somebody I choose to do business with because what if my request is something important regarding my hair? You going to ignore that too? No way!

UK Hair is a socially conscious business that provides excellent service. Jeff, the owner, is a very talented stylist who knows his clients, and his dedication is unsurpassed. He, and his patient staff, have kindly worked me into his schedule so many times. It is wonderful to get a great haircut while supporting a business that gives back so much to the community!
