Stephanie is the absolute best! I haven't been to her in many years bc I moved. I decided while I would be in town to get my hair done. She remembered how I liked my hair! It was perfect. She is friendly and a nice atmosphere! Looks like I may be driving 2 hours to get my hair done! Yes will keep doing this because she knows my hair.

Well. My honest opinion is I think all Salons should have experience with all hair textures Not just your race but all Race! However I'm an African American woman & she told me they doesn't really do my type of hair & she didn't know what an Simple silk press was DONT WANNA SAY SAM and BILL's are the worst but I will say we Have to do BETTER!

Dang. I loved this experience. I was looking for someone to give me quite a substantial cut. I met Shilo after she had a last minute cancellation. I really lucked out! This legend is typically booked solid and I can see why! The salon itself is very welcoming and cozy and Shilo, my stylist, is very talented and professional. Run, don't walk y'all. Xx

Kristi is my favorite! She listens and consults like a queen; takes her time to cut with precision; and is incredibly easy going, down to earth, and relatable. I will continue to book my appointments with her as I look forward to being pampered! Sam and Bill's is such a unique salon with its cozy like interior rather than I sterile salon. I've always been treated with respect and professionalism.

This place is the best hair salon I have ever been to. When I first came to Sam & Bill's my hair was a literal disaster, but the stylist Jessica worked hard to fix it. She gave me tips on how to help make my hair healthy again, while also through some miracle work fixing the disastrous hair color that I came in with. I continued making appointments with Jessica, and every time I came in she would outdo herself to make the coloring job look better than it had beforehand.

In addition, the salon is very reasonably priced. I am moving out of the Raleigh area and I will be blessed if I can find a stylist as talented as Jessica in my new location.

I have gotten my hair cut twice now by sandy and every single time I have left so happy! My hair is super thick and never have I felt like I couldn't trust her with it! Both have been extreme cuts one a bob and recently a pixie. and sandy has left me speechless. everyone at the salon is super nice and welcoming. i will definitely be back and recommending!

Sandy is a true artist as a hairdresser. I love how she uses color to give definition to my hair. I always get compliments on my color and cut. The products they carry keep my hair healthy and shiny.

I decided to give Sam and Bill's a try after having just moved to Raleigh a few months ago, and I'm SO glad I did. First of all, I think for most people, especially we ladies who get more than just an occasional cut or blowout, we want the best person we can find who'll understand our hair and also provide impeccable customer service. Well, I found both of those in Kari!

She not only did probably the best highlighting job I've ever had ( and I've been getting highlights for over 30 years), but she was also super friendly, easy to talk to and made what normally seems like a long appointment go by very quickly! I just moved to the area and was on the hunt for a new salon. I called in advance to get an idea on pricing for partial highlights and a cut and they were friendly and the prices seemed very reasonable, especially compared to other salons I called in Raleigh. I had Kari as my stylist and loved our conversations and she was really efficient and worked quickly.

I'm so happy with my coloring and she blended the blonde shades beautifully! I also left with a complimentary gift bag that had samples of shampoo & conditioner, a tumbler, and scalp brush. Overall I actually had a lot of fun talking with all the stylists and receptionist there and am looking for a reason to go back soon

Kari is the best! She's the only person I trusted with my hair for the 8 years I lived in Raleigh. Cuts were always great and when I decided to try balayage she did a great job as well! She is also awesome at providing recommendations when I wanted a change and also introduced me to products I will never stop using (Moroccanoil dry shampoo ). Plus she's also just a super nice person. Go see her!

Finally found a place that gave me a cut to address my thinning hair. Really neat place as well.

Recently went to Sam & Bill's Hair Design for the first time, a really friendly atmosphere the whole time I was there. I was seen by Andrea who did highlights and a cut. I love the consult that helped her make the careful and right choices for my type of hair and personal likes. She was so personable and seemed very genuine and talented in her field.

Very glad to have found this place and Andrea too! It was a bit higher than my budget allows for (as often as I likely will need color and a cut) but when my budget allows I will absolutely be at their doorstep!

I got my velvet balayage done here last week by Jessica. It looks wonderful. Although I have thick long dark hair and the process took a couple of hours, she was patient and nice all the time. I will definitely be going back.

This Raleigh icon has recently celebrated a major milestone birthday. It's a quaint old two story house which has been converted into the go to place for hair cuts, styles and color for both men and women. It is located on Oberlin Road between Cameron Village and Hillsborough Street. Lunch or a cold beer at Players Retreat could be a great way to show off your new hairdo. It's only going to look this good on the day you visit, regardless of how many outrageously over priced products you leave with.

And they do push product. The receptionist is always super helpful and scheduling is done in person or over the phone. A reminder text is deeply appreciated. Usually, I'd say 3 out of 4 appointments begin on time. If I have to wait, it isn't more than about 10-15 minutes. Sandy has lots of energy and gives a positive vibe, despite scolding you if you haven't been in for a while. When I'm not sure what I want to do with my hair, she has good ideas! Super friendly!

Shilo saved me and my hair! She's honestly the hair superhero! I came in for a color correction ( April from Bella la Vi had done a number to my hair) and Shilo took my fried brassy hair and actually made it look good! Something I thought was going to be impossible! I had gone to 2 other hairstylist prior to her and no one wanted to touch my hair due to the terrible integrity of it, but she was very careful with it, trying not to overlap the highly processed pieces in efforts to salvage what I had.

My hair is a work in progress and Shilo made sure to explain every step of the way while using very little hairstylist jargon that most don't understand and was also very transparent with the pricing before we even started. this was something that I never got with April, so I was very appreciative of Shilo's professionalism. Thank you so much for giving some life and beauty back to my hair! You've earned yourself a new customer! Also she's amazing at balayage!

This is probably the most unsure I have been about the quality of a service ever. I am not a professional hair stylist and I do not claim to know what is right or wrong technique. But as someone who has been getting devacuts for more than two years now, I can tell when something is off. I have recently moved to raleigh and choose Sam and Bills bc of their great reviews.

I went in for a devacut with Stephanie, and she did her part of making me comfortable and asking me questions about what I want. But the end result is something I am still very skeptical about, like i said since I am not a professional I will just let the pictures do the talking for this review- I have attached pictures of my current devacut from Sam and Bills and the okder ones I have been getting.

It wont take much to tell which is which. All in all I am out of 100$, time i invested inwaiting to get an appointment, the hair length that i need to grow back if I want to try something next. I really want to give the stylist benefit of doubt, but i just dont think I can afford to. One of the saddest salon experiences ever.

Kari is amazing. I came in for some color and could not have been happier with the result. She was so sweet and took the time to style my hair beautifully. The salon had a great environment, I absolutely love my hair, and the staff was extremely kind. I will be back!

I was a walk-in who needed a simple, quick one inch trim. The receptionist and hairdresser were friendly, my service was quick, my hairdresser answered my questions, I didn't get a wash as per my personal request, and I did get my ends trimmed, but this maximum 15 minute procedure cost me $50. I would maybe think that this was the minimum a hairdresser could charge, but the card I was given had $30 and $40 options.

I still tipped my hairdresser as I would normally. I suppose the service wasn't terrible, but I felt jipped and disappointed that I was charged so much for an incredibly simple procedure.

Whitney was great. I have curly hair and she did a wonderful job on the cut. I had a big deal event and my hair looked great. She also made me feel very comfortable, as did the receptionist and other stylist I met.

I have been going to Sandy Brown for years and am never disappointed! Although over the years I have tried other stylist who are closer to where I live, I keep coming back to Sandy. She doesn't complain about my thick hair and when she cuts my hair, it grows out so well that I feel like it never looks bad. Plus, Sandy is such a sweet person, I leave there feeling so good about myself! Sandy is the gold standard of hair stylists.

Great location and reputation - however, as I chose them for being a Redken salon, and gave them the formula used in my hair, was very disappointed with the end result.

I love getting my hair cut here-such a great location and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Sarah cut my hair most recently, and she was great! Although it is a little pricey for college students, I think it's worth it.

I use Stephanie cause she is great with curly hair. The place is a converted house and always has flowers outside and coffee and snacks to greet you. Parking is fine in a lot across the street. This is a top quality salon with prices not sky high. I highly recommend this salon. They do coloring and haircuts and waxing.

Growing up, I was taught a very important lessons by my father: "You NEVER pay for cheap sushi or cheap haircuts. Nothing good can come from either of those decisions." It took a few poor decisions of my own before I stumbled upon Sam and Bill's. It's location is fairly ideal (near NCSU and Cameron Village), but the house that the business occupies can blend quietly into the neighborhood if you aren't actively looking for it. Nevertheless, the salon is friendly and inviting and all of the staff members do a great job of making you feel at ease.

I judge a salon/barbershop by their ability to really listen to the customer; to do what we want rather than what the professional thinks is best. As the great GE Executive Jack Donaghy once said, "my hair is my headsuit, " then I feel the same damn way. Sam and Bill's stylists always listened to my needs, spent extra time dealing with my picky nuances and in the end, delivered a consistently outstanding haircut for around $20. Great place to go if you are looking for rock-solid salon in Raleigh.

Nice atmosphere, friendly folks. I got a cut and color. I would have given it a five; however, discovered I had a big streak of dye on the side of my cheek after I got home. A bit embarrassing as I'd stopped for lunch after getting my hair done.
