Stylist didn't follow written instructions on file resulting in color fade within a week which might have been her misunderstanding that I respect. Request and feedback was responded with blatant defense of their service and I was asked to switch salon without trying to understand my concern. I still went on for a neck trim and she explained her reasoning for not following instructions.

I requested a subsequent appointment which was never set despite a reminder suggesting they didn't care about their business or me as a customer. Either way I am sorry to lose my stylist yet the management arrogance and disrespectful conduct with customers is highly unprofessional for any business

I went to this place with a lot of expectations from the reviews and recommendations but was by far the worst experience! The hairstylist Carlie was not willing to fix my hair when I told her that I was not satisfied. I went there to get ash/ milk tea color and even showed her the picture but this was how it turned out. To my surprise the owner even didn't ask me what the issue was but was very rude and talked to me very disrespectfully.

When I told them I had to take the day off because of their delay in service, he told me I should have taken two days off instead for what I wanted. I have never seen a business owner talk to their customers in that manner before. I'm not sure if they provided the poor service because I looked like a young/naive student or because I was from a different race.

The whole place had all white employees and customers. I was in there the entire day 9:30am to 4pm. When I refused to pay, they finally redid my hair. I am still not satisfied but I paid for the service because I almost felt threatening with the way everyone spoke to me. None of them apologized or anything, they were all blaming me instead. This is not close to anything of what I asked for.

There was only one hairstylist (don't know her name) who came and spoke to me politely and in a professional manner and listened to my concern. I could have done with her instead but she didn't have much time. She might have been the reason the place got the stars. I'm very shaken by the whole experience and the way I was treated just because I asked for the service that I paid for! I wish no one go through what I did!

I had my haircut at this place before and I liked it. It was from a different hairstylist. So I recommended my friend for hair color and decided to do my hair color too. We went there for consultation a week before and was very happy with the way she talked to us. karyl was the hairstylist for both of us. I didn't even understand the owner made my friend wait for an hour to fix her hair with the same hairstylist while the other employees were free.

I wanted my hair to be ash grey but it turned out so bad that i wanted my natural color back. The excuse from employee was that I had my natural black color hair. And the owner said the same thing to me. The owner was not even polite to us, he was refusing to give us a service after messing up the hair. When I tried to explain the changes to karyl after she said i was done, she didn't even listen and said I have a guest after. She did the same to my friend. She didn't even care if I was satisfied with the dye. I will never recommend this place for hair color.

I've had my hair done by 3 different stylists here over the past two years and they always do a stellar job.

I recently went to the salon for a cut & color. I'm very particular! Karli did an amazing job! The best color I've ever had. Loved all the Aveda products she used on my hair. I will definitely be going back!

Love this salon! Have been coming here for over a year! Sad when Lauren left but now have Bonnie who is just as great & professional!

I have been going here since before Covid hit, but the protocol during this time has been great. Everyone has to wear masks, have their temperatures taken coming in, and there is hand sanitizer. I see Lauren every 7 weeks for a haircut and I continued that consistently this past year. Lauren is an excellent beautician, and she listens. If I ever want some small change in my cut here or there, or have a question, she handles it all knowledgeably.

She is also easy to talk to and always embodies a ray of sunshine. I love the location in downtown Arlington and the fact that there is plenty of parking right outside the door.

This was my first time at this salon I got a color and cut by Bonnie. Bonnie is so sweet and really took the time to listen to what I wanted done. She was a total professional and her experience and knowledge is easily seen in her work. I am a hard to please customer and very picky and I left the salon happy. She did an amazing job! This salon is the best. I love Lauren, my stylist and coiffeuse! She introduced me to a new hairstyle, new hair products and an experience I'd never had elsewhere. I learned a man can have a salon experience, just like a woman! The entire visit is something I look forward to. We chat, she clips my hair. we go over to the shampoo bar and we chat some more (while she's massaging my scalp/neck/hands. then we head back over to the chair to clean it up with a fresh scissor cut. They offer wine, beer, water or hot tea. The salon is an Aveda salon (duh), so they only offer their product line - but it is fabulous!

I've been getting my hair cut with Kellie for like 20 years at 3 different locations. Honestly happy that I still have hair left to cut! She always does a fantastic job and treats my whole family like it's her family!

If i could give less than one star I would. SCAMERS, be aware! a hair stylist goes by Bonnie, charged me $170 for partial hi-lights, no roots touch up and no blow dry included, didn't even as much as comb my hair when she was done and my hair is shoulder length! I was shocked, the whole deal reeked of SCAM! when I asked what's the $170 for they said it's for the hi-lights and 2 toners! that's like saying "well I had to cut your hair twice on the same appointment "! all that crap for my medium length hair? adding insult to injury, bonnie is a level 1 on the Aveda level system! she's charging me like she's the master of hair styling across the nation! and the end result is horrible, yellow golden streaks where the roots don't even match my old high lights. Worst place ever, horrible customer service.needless to say I'm never going back. unless you love wasting your money while getting treated like a second class citizen cross them off your list of a place of business.

I wanted to get balayage hair for a long time and Taylor sent hair pictures of customers thru IG, then I decided to book with Taylor for balayage. After we discussed about the color I wanted which was ashy brunette and after I agreed with the picture, Taylor proceeded to start working on my hair. My balayage color didn't turn out ashy at all but blonde and Taylor suggested I come back for touch up for toner after 2 months.

I am not satisfied with the result as color was not what I wanted. If I had known that it would need more than 1 treatments, then I didn't have to take risk to drive to Arlington, I would have gone to my regular salon.

I'm only doing two stars because I spoke to the manager and was able to talk things out. Taylor at Maren Karsen did my hair, and I asked for a balayage and to bring it up. Here's my before and after and when it was straight. I was told that "she did bring" my balayage up. She was an affordable price but I was just disappointed.

This salon is top of the line. Bonnie always does an amazing job with men's hair. She always knows how to make my haircut look sharp and professional. I recommend her to friends of mine that are looking for a new hair stylist as often as I can.

Amber is absolutely amazing! She is able to understand my inability to do my own hair. She makes recommendations. I love it! I want someone to tell me how I'll look better. My first highlight in years had her turning me into a dishwater blonde into a strawberry blonde! I love it! I've booked for the year!

I, personally, patronized their salon primarily because we'd just recently moved into our new residence, and I'd requested that my daughter search online for a salon that was decent and fairly close to where we currently reside. My appointment vegan with a short consultation with a young stylist who listened intently as to my concerns, and proceeded to wash my hair in the exact manner in which I had requested; being extremely careful with steps in which she styled my hair, explaining to me why the product would be beneficial to my needs! Overall, upon completion of styling my hair, I received an A-1, High Five, response from my daughter! I, PERSONALLY, enjoyed the hair stylist who proved to me that she definitely had ample years of experience in her field! I plan to return for a trim real soon!

I requested an appointment and the man in the phone was polite and booked me for the next day with Amber. I was worried about getting my long hair cut after so long. I went into the Salon and it smelled great was my first impression. Clean and neat. Receptionist was very professional. She had me wait a moment for my stylist. I did not wait very long as Amber greeted me and we started bit earlier than my appointment.

I definitely wish to compliment the fact that amber dressed and styled her hair impressively! My worry about my own hair being in untrained hands went away. She looked at my hair, asked what I would like or any problems I have. Answered and gave me advice. She was attentive and was happy to take my feedback since my hair parts weirdly. Overall great experience and my hair turned out great! I definitely look forward to coming here once more. Thank you Amber!

I walked in cold, having found the salon here on Yelp. I met Amber and explained my cut and color needs. She totally exceeded my expectations! I have never been happier with a salon experience, ever! She knew exactly what she was doing, from the expert color--highlights, repair previous color problem, etc. -- to the exact cut I wanted. I can't believe my good fortune. When I think of some of my previous bad experiences with salons in other places, this one is a real winner. Thank you, AMBER!

Kay does my hair and she is amazing! She is incredibly professional and always takes the time to discuss everything we are going to do before she starts. Recently, I have been undergoing IVF treatments which have left me feeling run down, and unattractive. After Kay cut and colored my hair, I left the salon feeling "pretty" for the first time in a long time.

The hair cut and color Kay did for me made me feel like myself again, which was a really emotional thing for me after feeling down for so long. Thank you Maren Karsen Salon and especially Kay!

I have been going to Allie at Maren Karsen Salon for a few years now and I'm always happy with the cut and color she does on me. I love that she has great suggestions on what would compliment me perfectly and I love that she's not afraid to give me her honest opinion when I come to her with some hair brained color or cut idea lol. I've referred several friends to her and they love her just as much as I do! Also, the atmosphere at the salon is always positive, upbeat and happy. They offer great Aveda products at a reasonable price as well. I would highly recommend Allie and Maren Karsen Salon!

Allie is awesome! I'm always looking for cuts that are a little young and funky and she does a great job giving me cool cuts -- that I can still wear to work. She does a great job on my hubbie's hair, too. She's also just a great person -- I usually hate having to make small talk with stylists, but Allie is really nice and personable; I genuinely enjoy catching up with her. Highly recommend!

Went to this salon for the first time today. Awesome! I got there a few minutes before my 9am appt. One of the owners, Scott, invited me in. He had a fresh pot of coffee brewing that I am very sure was the best I have ever tasted! Very comfortable & relaxed atmosphere. Kay did a great job on my trim & the products are great. She said to come back to have my bangs trimmed at no charge if I need it before my next cut.

Who does that? Left feeling great. Sure this will be my regular salon. Been looking for a hairdresser I like for a very long time. Only suggestion I could make is that they sell a " to go" cup of Scott's delicious coffee!

The Best Salon. Jessica is so awesome as always does an amazing job on my hair. You will not be disappointed;
