Founded in 1970 by Jesse and Flo Briggs, Yellow Strawberry Hair Salon was created with the sole purpose of "hair care" in mind. The Concept was to break away from the "spa" Style Salons, which attempt to make up in selection, what they lack in perfection. With all of the attention centered on hair services, coupled with a high standard of consistent staff training and education, Yellow Strawberry offers flawless personalized service every time.

The modest man who owns and operates the Yellow Strawberry Salon is truly a little know hair care guru to the rich and famous. His life story is the stuff of bestselling books and blockbuster movies. His knowledge of hair styling and wellness in unmatched by any on earth. The salons he has created have been incredibly successful and located in only the best areas around south Florida.
But now Jesse has been generous enough to make his services available to regular folks like me and my honey. I reside right by the Everglades but we travel all the way to the beach for our appointments with Jesse and Flo. From his shop in Lauderdale By The Sea he creates the most awesome and joy inspiring hairstyles in the most beautiful and calming surroundings.
For his skill and abilities the costs of a visit to the Strawberry is truly surprisingly affordable. My cuts are always camera ready and occasional color is always amazing. And I am always entertained. This wonderful family owned and operated business will be your last stop for all of your haircare needs, I promise.

Every art genre has those whose talents puts them in that elite top star level- music blessed us with Talent like Billy Joel; the Beatles; Michael Jackson- painting gave us the genius of Michael Angelo, Picasso, and Leonardo di Vinci and hair styling it's the brilliance of Jesse and Flo Briggs - yes, of the Yellow Strawberry fame! I've been going to Jesse for 44 years now, and he's the best there is!
I've been with him through my teenage "flash dance " phase where he gave me that curly look with perms and sooo many curlers to my current look where he keeps the 'un-pigmented' hairs at bay. Jesse and Flo are always on top of the latest trends and are so expert in hair color that they've taught most of the 'experts' in the seminars that they've given to the top stylists in the field over the years.
If you're lucky enough to book an appointment with one of them, you will walk out of there feeling like a million bucks - and lucky for me, they're make you feel like a million bucks but they're priced very, very competitively. You can tell that they love what they do, and I promise, you will love them!

Jessie's haircut looks good without effort. You know how you go to the stylist, they make haircut, blow-dry it, it looks great until you wash your head, after that it just won't look good whatever you do? This is not the case. Jessie had no problems following my "wants" and did his hairstyling thing. 2 weeks after I dried my hair in a bun overnight and it looks great. That's how you identify tell good hair-stylists.

I walked into this place after looking at reviews online, but not realizing those were for the previous salon that was here. The owners are named Flo and Jessie and are extremely nice, and know exactly what they're doing when it comes to hair. I had used a box hair dye and it turned out to be way too dark for my skin tone and looked horrible. I went into Yellow Strawberry and explained my situation and asked if they could help. Flo immediately had a consultation with me to see what I wanted and how she'd be able to help.
She went to work and after lightening, cutting, and re dying my hair to the right color, it turned out amazing! She really took her time with it and made sure I would like it. My one and only issue was the sticker shock. When she had said that she needed to lighten it, then redye it, she said it would cost around $150 which I had no problem with considering that it was a lot of work to fix my color.
But when she asked if I wanted it cut too, I asked how much it would cost and she said $50 for a trim and blow dry, etc. I'm used to paying $15 for a cut, and she didn't take too much off. So that kind of shocked me, but it looks incredible. If you want your hair done right, I highly recommend this place; just be aware that it's high priced for high quality. They are EXTREMELY nice people and offer coffee and a nice conversation. If you need your hair fixed or anything, please do come here!
